Good Dealer Dealings - List Your Good Dealer Experience

Just wanted to throw it out there - I was informed by my local dealership Findlay Kia in Vegas that they are no longer able to place orders since Kia has fallen behind on getting them built and shipped out in a timely fashion. They're now looking at a 8-12 month timeframe with 40+ outstanding orders that have NOT been filled yet by Kia. Be wary when you are searching for a dealer to order one for you. It's likely that they will tell you something similar, since I'm sure Findlay isn't the only one waiting on orders to be filled.

It is astonishing to me that people are paying 10k above MSRP. That being said, the price paid is still cheaper than an X7 or GMC Yukon Denali. I’m ok with “custom” ordering the Telly at MSRP and waiting since Ken Russian at Lev Kia (Framingham, MA) was up front about the wait time and wants to earn customers business by selling at MSRP. About 8 months to go!
Hi E91fan,

I am thinking of ordering an SX from Ken, but not sure if I can wait 8-9 months. I saw your previous comment where you had mentioned that you ordered yours in June. Just curious if your order had been picked up in KFOS. I am hoping things will pick up.🤞

Morning everyone,

I am trying to find a good dealer in Virginia or DMV ( DC, Maryland, VA ) area. who did you deal with that I should look for if I go to that dealership. Thanks everyone!

I purchased from Timbrook KIA in Cumberland, MD. I worked with Michael Marvin. Very smooth transaction.

Hi bptimer. Have not heard back from Ken after a couple of attempts. I asked if VIN was created and then asked for a status update via text and haven’t heard anything from him. That was two weeks ago. So I ordered one in transit from Quirk in Braintree.

Two reasons why I can not wait. 1) Current vehicle will need maintenance items and 2) want to make sure money is out of savings in time to qualify for financial aid for school. April arrival will be way past time for that.

Other than these two recent times of not getting back to me, Ken has been pretty responsive. If the Telly in transit deal goes through, I will be able to get my refund from Ken. If not, I will have to think about whether or not I want to wait till April. Likely not!

An SX Gravity Gray Nightfall just hit Failcat today for that dealer. MSRP $47,480. Could it be yours?

That’s not mine. Ordered wolf gray. Originally orderedgravity and then changed it so it may be the one🤷🏻‍♂️ The one that I made a deal on in transit is more equipped. Also has prestige, RES, towing. I’m glad I’ve had an eternity to second guess my order and options and to finally figure out that I want my last gas vehicle to be fully loaded🤣

That's too bad. I was hoping you would have heard something from Ken by now. Last I checked Quirk was charging a markup. Is it still the case? I have also reached out to Herb Chambers, and while they sell at MSRP, the wait is about the same 6-8 months.

Yes there is a mark up but I’m willing to pay half of the 4k mark up or even all of it if it will net me financial aid for my sons school. It’s all about (for me) manipulating the numbers. If I wait for the car I ordered at MSRP, I lose the financial aid. I’m not sure if it’s the right way to manipulate my money to work for me, but it’s the best thought I have for the moment!

If you're in the Clearwater, FL area the most responsive KIA Dealership is Lokey KIA. My family has gotten 6 KIAs from them.
Included the 2021 KIA Telluride SX Prestige and the 2021 Sorento SX. GM Danny and Sales Mike Murray make the buying
experience easy and a pleasure. No pressure sales.
Just called Lokey Kia and was quoted $15k over sticker FOR AN ORDER. Ouch, they better throw in some grease with that.
FYI Florida is crazy but average is $6-10k for in-stock units. I have found dealers as low as $1895 for in-stock and am still searching.
If anyone knows of any Florida or southern GA dealers at MSRP please post.

Just picked up my beautiful Telly from Ricart Kia in Groveport, OH (Columbus) and they were AMAZINGLY wonderful to work with. I worked with Adam Hyer (Internet Sales manager) and Robert Pardon (sales). I put my name on an incoming order that was what I was looking for (floor mats, mudflaps and cargo liner added but I was fine with all of those), no deposit required, waited just under 2 months. He kept me 100% informed of when the VIN appeared, when ETAs changed and what my total would be. Any email or text I sent was answered instantly. It came in early. He told me I had to be there within 24 hours once it arrived - but I had already agreed to this and since they were being kind to sell to someone out of state (which I get some dealerships don't love to do cause they want to build relationships/customers). MSRP, only tried to sell me Weathertech mats (at a good price too). Added free lifetime powertrain warranty. Everyone I interacted with there was kind and honestly excited for me. I did not need financing so can't speak to that. Just wanted to recommend the dealership and the salespeople I worked with, they were all great.

Great to hear! I'm also working with Adam on one incoming later this month and was hoping others had had good experiences there. I'm in-state but a good distance away with childcare arrangements potentially needing to be made depending on the day it comes in. Did you get notice of its pending arrival a day or two in advance or was your first notice of the arrival date his call to say it had arrived?

Well the date changed 4 times and then it came in 5 days early. So actually yes, I literally got a call that it had arrived (I had just spoken to them the day before, so they did not know it was coming early). I was able to pick it up 2 days later but I was very clear about my travel plans and exactly when I would arrive. They do not get weekend deliveries if that makes any difference to you (even if your ETA date is a weekend date). I had known this might happen and I was willing to make last minute arrangements, so all I can say is maybe have contingency plans in place? Or bring your kids! I was in and out relatively quickly!

Heads up. I just ordered my Kia Telluride from Waikem Kia in Canton, Ohio. LX trims are at MSRP and S trim was only $2k over MSRP. They have 20 or so coming in. I went with the SX Prestige Nightfall black w nappa grey nigthfall and it was $5k over msrp.

Good to know that they don't get weekend deliveries, though a Friday afternoon phone call will have us scrambling to get down there on a Saturday with a 7-month-old.

Do you mind me asking what they are selling the Weathertech mats for? I was planning on ordering some different ones in advance but would consider theirs at the right price.

$209 for front and 2nd row with delivery (don't know for 3rd/cargo - mine came with the cargo liner).

I've also been in the dark from Ken since I ordered 2 months ago. I've sent him 2 texts just to see if there's any update and since I saw my exact build pop up on failcat, I thought maybe I got lucky and it was picked up. Ken was great when taking my order, I was just hoping for a little more transparency even if it's, "hey, still no update."

Thanks for the update. When I initially inquired about an SX, Ken said 8-11 months. A few days later he narrowed it down to 9-10. Not sure if he's just throwing numbers around, but I am thinking of putting a deposit down anyway just to reserve a place in line in case of cancelations or if production picks up. However given @E91fan's experience, I'm not holding my breath. I am also thinking about putting another deposit at Herb Chambers to see if their turn around is quicker. Please keep us posted about any updates you receive. Thanks!

@bptimer and @ShucknTelly my guess is twofold. 1)he is inundated with orders since they are selling at MSRP and 2)he has caught on to the fact that some folks can not or may not be able to wait that amount of time and he knows he will have zero issues selling to someone else.

There should be an available Telluride by April at Lev (042 on failcat ) Wolf Gray, NF, if everything goes through with the other deal for me.

It’s a tough time to be bringing multiple deals to the table and using them as a bargaining chip and I’m sure dealers all across the country know that.

Hello,
Is there any dealer with a lead time of 2-4 months ? I ordered from kia hilltop in march and back then it was 6-8 months and in november they said its again 8 more months. So i am deciding to switch dealerships.

Any recommendations ?
