I took notes during my first 3 months with a 2022 SX Prestige Nightfall with Tow.

Overall this car is super duper superb. 98/100. Extremely pleased. These were the quirks I noticed.
  1. Cannot silence the beep when exiting running car
  2. Bumper proximity beeps lack a “you are super close! stop now!” tone. It’s the same tone from ~24” to 0”
  3. Driver profiles don’t save LED colors, HUD preferences, and more
  4. Unbuckled seat belt chime
  5. Driver seat can’t tilt forward or backward. This one is actually annoying. The seat only goes up and down, there’s no tilt axis. I’m 6’1” so basically I can’t tilt the seat bottom backward enough to get leg support, ever, period.
  6. Mood LEDs not bright enough
  7. Can’t silence blinkers
  8. Can’t have active assist on without beeps
  9. Head/fog lights don’t illuminate sides at all, as in left/right at a stop sign
  10. Gas tank capacity. 350 mile range is rather annoying, and we don’t even commute
  11. Busy HUD. When auto-steer and auto cruise control and HDA is on, the HUD is insane. It’s like 13 icons.
  12. Can’t lock car while running
  13. Remote start shuts off too easily
  14. Remote start requires pressing lock first
  15. Door and window child lock isn’t separate. So if you lock windows from rolling down, door child lock is on. Weird.
  16. Mirrors don’t tilt down when in Reverse
  17. (ADDED) When lane-keeping is active, and it decides the turn is too sharp to handle itself, it just… gives up and stops steering, with no beep or indication afaict.
  18. Running car must be in Park to open liftgate

Only #5 and #10 are more than a nitpick.

Let me know if I’m wrong about any!

#14: This is common behavior for pretty much every vehicle with factory remote start. It's a safety feature to prevent theft (doors must be locked to remote start the vehicle).

#16: Try moving the mirror selector switch to one side (L or R). Whichever side the switch is moved to should dictate which side mirror tilts down in reverse.

Answered previously; but the mirrors do tilt down, if you put the window adjustment switch to left or right instead of center.

I also don't mind pressing "lock" before remote start, to avoid accidentally starting if my money clip presses on the start button while I'm in the house...

Edit: I see @sprengBoard beat me to it >:O

There is a remedy to almost half of your list. Busy now but will take time tomorrow to give solutions to a little over half your issues/concerns

Cannot silence the beep when exiting running car
Just leave the door cracked, it won’t beep at you.
Bumper proximity beeps lack a “you are super close! stop now!” tone. It’s the same tone from ~24” to 0”

HUD preferences,
HUD settings are saved with the driver seat memory button. Those settings are not linked to infotainment profiles, alas.
Busy HUD. When auto-steer and auto cruise control and HDA is on, the HUD is insane. It’s like 13 icons.
You can choose items that you want to display on the HUD. If you think there are things you don’t care about, then turn them off.
Mirrors don’t tilt down when in Reverse
They do. Just make sure your mirror control toggle is not centered. If it’s centered, they won’t move. If it is off to the left or right, both mirrors will tilt in reverse.

#14 My other cars allowed it, because you can’t shift into gear or tap brake (required to shift into gear) unless key is in car.

#16 Thanks!

Great list thanks!

Usually I’m leaving the dog in the car with AC running (Texas!). Otherwise I do your solution! Still wish there was a setting.

> HUD settings are saved with the driver seat memory button.

What the heck?! Well, great to know! Thanks!

Even the HDA, cruise, and steer?! Sweet, I’ll double check.

I dislike that both mirrors tilt no matter what. It should be: switch to the right, passenger only side tilts; switch to the left, both tilt.

I fully agree with your point five… I’m. 6’3 and the seat bottom cannot lift enough in the front to fully support my legs even extending the small cushion forward does not help. This could be made better by allowing the seat cushion to “rock” so the front edge can be raised enough to lift enough to support your legs. Fully agree with this nit pick - on a test drive
it was almost enough to make me reconsider buying another brand.

Yep. I got the fancy seats that can extend further to support long legs… too bad they can never touch my legs thanks to the limit in tilt.

heh? I get over 400 miles per tank

In Comfort mode I was getting 350-360. In Smart I seem to get 370-380. Both are too little! I looked seriously into larger tank options, nothing good out there.

4. Unbuckled seat belt chime
Some have disabled by unplugging the harness plugged into the buckle, or buying a spare seatbelt tongue to fit into the buckle. Of course you are sacrificing your own safety to do this.

5. Driver seat can’t tilt forward or backward. This one is actually annoying. The seat only goes up and down, there’s no tilt axis. I’m 6’1” so basically I can’t tilt the seat bottom backward enough to get leg support, ever, period.
It is possible to tile the seat bottom. The front part of the switch tilts the seat bottom up/down while the back part of the horizontal switch adjusts the seat height up/down.

7. Can’t silence blinkers
What car can do this? Maybe a luxury brand I would imagine, but not standard for non-luxury such as Kia.

8. Can’t have active assist on without beeps
Go into your instrument cluster settings. Press the Mode button on your steering wheel > User Settings > Driver Assist > Warning Volume Off.

12. Can’t lock car while running
I also don’t like this restriction, but seems to be the norm for most modern push to start cars. There are roundabout ways to do it if you really need to lock. Using the mechanical key, using UVO link to remote lock, remote start the car while locked, keep the window rolled down until you close the door from outside, then reach in and lock and roll up the window. The last option still requires one of the first two options to then unlock the car.

13. Remote start shuts off too easily
True. Ways to bypass would be to open a front door first, or open the drivers door and step on the brake pedal real quick to takeover.

15. Door and window child lock isn’t separate. So if you lock windows from rolling down, door child lock is on. Weird.
This is the same for Audis. Probably to do away with those manual lock switches on the rear door jambs.

17. (ADDED) When lane-keeping is active, and it decides the turn is too sharp to handle itself, it just… gives up and stops steering, with no beep or indication afaict.
I agree there should be some audible warning that LFA will/has turned off. Sometimes the LFA steering wheel icon will blink when it has a hard time detecting lane markers, but not always.

#14 My other cars allowed it, because you can’t shift into gear or tap brake (required to shift into gear) unless key is in car.
Are you saying you want to be able to remote start without the car door locked so you can get into the car and shift into gear and drive off without the key at all? Doesn’t that make it easier for thieves?

The infotainment system sucks. Android auto randomly disconnects, wife's iPhone won't connect to Bluetooth.

The dealer didn't return my call.

I’d do that. Do we know it doesn’t affect airbags?

It is possible to tile the seat bottom.
True, but the issue is that it basically can’t go past flat. Which when your legs are long means no support.

Go into your instrument cluster settings. Press the Mode button on your steering wheel > User Settings > Driver Assist > Warning Volume Off.
Based on the settings hierarchy it feels like this turns off EVERY beep?

Thanks for confirming about locking the car while running and remote start shutting off to easily.

Ya those suck too. Just need two separate buttons.

This legitimately shocks me. I can’t believe people haven’t died. It seriously just silently fails while maintaining speed straight ahead (you’re on a turn!).

Are you saying you want to be able to remote start without the car door locked so you can get into the car and shift into gear and drive off without the key at all? Doesn’t that make it easier for thieves?
No the way it should work is: you remote start by holding down the button for 3 seconds, which itself prevents most accidents since you must hold it down. The car can be locked or unlocked, doors open or closed, anything as long as it’s in Park. Then you can do anything else… unlock, lock, open trunk, doors, whatever, and the car will keep running. But, if you try to shift out of Park, or if you tap the Brake (the first step of shifting out of Park)… the engine will shut off UNLESS the key is inside the car.

Thereby allowing you complete freedom on remote starting, with no risk of theft.

Well, it’s not a hands off system, so anyone using it should always have their hands on the wheel. Anything that would happen as a result of someone not having their hands on the wheel would be their own fault.

I’m curious what kind of factory remote start system you’ve used that works anything like this. Every remote start system I’ve personally used (GM, Chrysler/FCA/Stellantis, and Hyundai/Kia) has either required pressing the lock button as the first step, or double pressing the remote start button, which locks the doors if they weren’t already locked.

Yeah the Telluride isn’t self driving so I dunno what people expect.

I’ve had the same experience with every remote start I’ve owned. Gotta press the lock button twice then remote start that way there’s no way your could accidentally trigger it in your pocket.

Technically you can do all the things you mentioned above while the car is remote started (open close doors/trunk). The problem is that Kia made the takeover timer really short once the car doors are opened and the range of detection of the fob is not wide enough. You only have like 30 seconds for the car to sense the fob is nearby for auto takeover, or it will shut off. It is possible for the car to sense the fob when you load kids/items in the back seat, but it is very hit or miss.

In terms for the LFA deactivating, if it could give the same kind of warning it does when it wants you to put your hands on the wheel before SCC shuts off, or even the same warning as LKA, in my opinion would be better than no warning at all.
