• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I have a Telluride on order. Ordered 1/25/2022. Was so excited and couldn’t wait for it to get here. After following this forum, I am getting nervous because of the windshield issues and transmission issue (vibration at higher speeds). My question is: do these issues hinder anyone else from loving their Telluride? Are these isolated incidences? Don’t want to make a mistake in my next car as it needs to last me a long time. Thank you for you patience with my nervousness! I want to love my NaniRide when it gets here!

I think the windshield issue is much more widespread than the vibration issues. I've had more than enough issues with mine but when it's not in the shop I'm happy with it. Every vehicle model has problems with some units. A family member bought their Telluride on the same day as me and aside from a replacement windshield, hasn't had any issues.

I'm just riding the wave. It's annoying to have a new car in the shop but I haven't had to pay for any of the fixes so it's just the hassle of dealer trips. It's so nice otherwise. If you're going to keep it a long time you could consider an extended warranty. It is a Kia after all.

The vibration issues seems to be resolved.

I currently have a 2021 Sorento. My sister and her husband have had 4 Sorentos and loved them so I got one. It wasn’t really what I wanted so trading for the Telluride. Looking forward to it and will look into an extended warranty. Thank you.

I think the windshield issue has been resolved too, in the newer models, 2021 and 2022. Haven't heard as many complaints about windshield issue since the vehicle first launched. I have a 2021 and I big rock hit the windshield traveling down the highway. There is a small divot in the windshield, but no crack and it's been almost 6 months.

Think of it like this. You're on a forum where people voice things good and bad about a vehicle, typically if it's going well, people are silent. People are much more likely to voice things when they aren't so good.

If you google minor aches and pains, read enough and you'll think you have cancer. When 99.9%, it's not anything serious at all.

Get the Telluride, enjoy it and don't stress, most likely you won't have any issues.

Thank you for the reassurance. I try to follow that advice on reviews for most things. This is just a major purchase. Again, thank you

I have had our Telluride for almost 5 months and 3300 miles. No problems with any of the issues you mentioned. One likely benefit of a 2022 model (and possibly a 2023 for you) is Kia has worked out bugs with suppliers and made changes for current production units. The only thing I would worry about is getting regular updates from your dealer on your position in line to get an allocation in KFOS. Good luck and be patient. It took a total of 8 months to get our Telluride. Five months on the waiting list for an allocation, two months after allocation to get a VIN, and another month for shipping to the dealer and the dealer shipping it to me.

Yes! The waiting is the hard part. Hoping KFOS picks it up this month.

I'm one of those silent ones mentioned above. Have had my 21 Telly for over a year with only one small issue that was corrected during my first checkup. The windshield wiper auto-sensing system didnt work but was corrected quickly. No other issues. I will say, the first thing i did with my Telly when it came was to get on the highway and get the speed up to over 70 mph...no transmission vibration issues.

Get the Telly and enjoy it! I sure have :)

Hey, the new Consumer Report for April "Best and worst cars" issue STILL has Kia Telluride first in it's class for 3rd year in a row. Also made their "Top 10" Vehicles this year. And it beats the Hyundai Palisade but 10 points! Don't give up on it

I believe they are isolated incidences. There are 28,022 members in this Telluride forum. You can see that member number in the footer of every page below. The vast majority of us (and me included) have had very positive experiences with the Telluride, and none of the issues you mention above has been experienced by almost all of us. Yes, it's true that a small percentage of owners have experienced these issues, and they naturally post on the forum. I'm glad they do, but I would say it's just a couple or three dozen out of the 28,022 members here. And yes, these posts really stand out and are probably widely read because most of us are surprised to hear about them. If my paint is not cracking, if my windshield is okay, if my tranny is fine, etc. I won't be posting about it and the thousands of other owners like me will probably not either.

How long do you intend on owning this vehicle is one of my first questions? I own a 2020 with over 30k on it. Everything with this car is venturing into new territory. A completely new design of a vehicle from a company that has never built anything remotely like this before is the first concern. So much tech included to compete with the luxury makes is also a factor. I am glad the initial finding on the car are positive, of course. I've had the windshield replaced but thats about all the problems I have had so far. Keeping my fingers crossed until I sell or trade it in in a year or two.

My plan is to keep it as long as it will run. Hoping to retire in the next few years and don’t want to replace the vehicle very quickly after I retire.

In my opinion, you can't do much better than the Telluride, and this is coming from someone who for years owned Volvo's exclusively.

We just returned from a nearly two month trip that took us from the Philadelphia area, to the Sierra Madres (northern CO), down to the Sangre de Cristos (Taos, NM) to the Wasatch/Unita ranges(SLC/Ogden, UT) and back. More than 6,000 miles in all. The car performed flawlessly, even in the very cold (below -20F on many days),in heavy snow (38" in 24 hours one day) and often very high winds on the highways. The Telly was a pleasure to drive with its automated controls, and has a sound system that is quite good (not really up to the Volvo Dynaudio system mark though). The car is quiet and comfortable as well; its seats are very close to those of Volvo (generally con sided the best in any car.) More importantly, we always felt safe and in control, even during the harsh weather we often encountered.

I'll also mention that we used the Telly to tow our T@B 320 this past summer, and again can't say enough good things about its performance. Not as many miles as our winter trip, only about 2,000 or so, but more than enough to report that it is a great tow vehicle. Roomy, quiet, comfortable and with enough performance to easily tow a 2,200 lb camper while getting decent mileage.

As far as transmission issues, there were/have been none. With regard to the windshield, we got pelted with road grit and stones on several occasions; one hit was enough to make a barely perceptible mark that when I brought the car in for service upon our return, the dealer it is far too small to even consider repairing, and told us to not worry about it. The only substantial flaw is the lack of protection in the front of the car. The stones and debris that did not damage the windshield did make more than few dents in the condenser. I intend to get add some mesh or expansion metal protection to prevent any further damage.

There's a reason why Car & Driver, Motor Trend, Edmunds and Consumer Reports all rank the Telly the number one mid-size SUV (for three years running.) If you read CR, you's see that the only other car in the Telluride classs that even comes close is its cousin, the Pallisade. CR rates the Telluride reliabilty overall at 5 out of 5 but in case you're still worried, the Kia warranty is 10yrs/100,000 miles. Folks are waiting months and/or paying well over list for the Telluride, and while that's something I wouldn't do, it does make a certain kind of sense considering the quality of the vehicle.

I think I can safely predict that you will love your Telluride.

Second replacement windshield going in today. 2020 ex. First covered by Kia. This one 500 total. We’ll see.

I agree with all the replies to your questions. Like you, we live in Texas (near Houston) and are close to retirement. We wanted to replace our 16 yo Honda Pilot.

The only problem I had was when a local dealership tacked on an extra $5K to the MSRP price. I almost had a heart attack (nearly ended my retirement before it started!). However, after the blood returned from my feet to my head, I realized it was only sticker shock, so, I quickly recovered, got online and found this forum. I had never owned or considered a Kia (my daughter has a Sorento, and I was not impressed). We were/are a Honda family, with no warranty work needed (ever) for 3 Honda vehicles. So, it was a leap of faith to go with Kia.

Thanks to the fine folks on this forum, I ordered one for MSRP from Huffines (Corinth). I have not had a single problem with my ride. Most advanced, comfortable, and safe, vehicle I have ever owned. Thanks everyone!

If you would like to see my ride on our last, long distance excursion:

I have a 2020 which has over 73,000 miles currently. Only issue was a shaky left camera issue which was noted at pickup and replaced by dealer (was a simple harness issue with plug). Other than oil changes and recommended major services, nothing negative to report. I have the SX prestige in nightfall. Going to have brakes checked soon and a set of tires.
Love this car!
