I'm not sure I understand what part makes absolutely no sense, so I'll try to address what you may be referencing. If it's in regards to some dealerships having stock of MY22s right now, there are a few reason they may have them on the lots.That makes absolutely no sense. Then there would be no MY22s on the lots now because there are still so many people that are waiting for their 22 order.
1. Someone who ordered backed out and now the dealership has the vehicle to sell and applies a healthy market adjustment on the vehicle which keeps it in stock.
2. I don't have proof of this with Kia, but there have been reports of some dealers creating fake orders for customers to get allocation from the OEMs. That way they have inventory to sell.
3. Kia allocated unsold vehicles to dealers that have high moving inventory. I'm not sure specifically if Kia has been doing this, but I know other OEMs have done this during chip shortages where they send allocated vehicles that are unsold to dealers, while custom orders are still on the books.
