• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... 2023 Kia Telluride Discussion

A dealership i didn’t order from yet told me 3-6 months for a 2023 once orders open. The one i had ordered from told me 9-12 months in august. I did order then so i don’t know where my place is but will confirm before i place the older elsewhere. My august order was deleted
I passed on my 22MY order (Ordered in Feb) for 23 model. I am kind of ok to wait but its just kind of funny to think about, by the time you get your order, there is another model coming out..

Failcat still keeps getting new 2022s. I dont think Kia will ever stop building 2022.
I spoke to my dealer today about my April order. I was told he is working on March orders now. So most likely my order will be picked by Kia next month. I asked if I will get MY23. He said it is possible but no guarantee since they are still getting allocation of MY22 biweekly. Until Kia officially tells them about order transition, he still expects that I am getting MY22.

What is up with the information given to customers? Kia should have their dealers all giving same information. I was told that all 22 orders that hadn’t been fulfilled were wiped out. My place was still in place and they’d contact me for 2023 order.

Is this not accurate? Why are other dealerships saying Kia is still accepting 22 orders?

Until they announce the pricing, 22s are still on. Pricing would be the first step.

Keep in mind that when Kia releases info to the dealerships, it's to all. If dealerships are giving you info prior to that, they are doing so based off of assumptions and speculation. They are constantly bombarded by customers asking for info and are probably giving out speculative info to satisfy the questions and keep customers from canceling.

They’ll build as many 22’s and they can from the parts bins until 23’s are ready for full blown production. With a year long backlog I don’t know why anyone is surprised by 22’s still hitting lots.

That's not how it works. Every model year changeover is planned months/years in advance due to capacity constraints with a cutover date that is known by Kia and all of their sub-suppliers. This avoids over receiving parts from the '22 model that can't build into a car and become obsolete.

Every OEM publishes model year calendars for the sub-suppliers, so we know when job 1 starts at the manufacturing plant. Stellantis (Chrysler) has their blue book. GM has their M-schedule.

Probably monitoring public commentary to help set prices and make last minute adaptations to what is offered.

Most product launches (across all product types) are a mess like this. Most people don’t follow along as closely as the members here, so you are noticing it. Chances are half the stuff you own had a rocky public intro.

Seems like every model year change over is the same with concerns, worries, anticipations, and speculations about current model and the upcoming new model. For many of us with previous models, we have seen or gone through this transition. See postings below for 2021/2022.

I think the big difference here is that there are new trims, colors and no more nightfall. So the transition wouldn’t be as smooth and it’s also been months since kfos closed (wasn’t the last one June?).
However the lack of information to the dealers seems to be the same

What a shitshow this launch has become, kia should be ashamed of themselves
From this communities perspective it is a shit show because we have expectations that are veiled in nothing but speculation and rumor.

Looking at it from Kia's perspective, they released the 2023 at the New York Auto show and provided some teasers on their site. Now during the award show marketing run they released a bunch more specific details with the production ramp up coming soon.

What good is it for Kia to report the MY changeover date to the public? Why release pricing early when they may need to adjust to market conditions? Pricing of competition, inflation increases, etc.

I love the enthusiasm for Tellys of this site, but there is also a ton of negativity towards Kia over our expectations. Kia has done nothing wrong with their MY changeover in my opinion, but it's frustrating not having info, wanting to buy it as a fanatical buyer like myself.

Does this indicate they may have done something structural to improve on the marginal rating from the harsher side impact testing? I haven't seen that mentioned anywhere in 2023 updates.
My company actually manufacturers the parts highlighted in this picture for other OEMs. It appears there is a bubble on the B-pillar, which is the vertical part that sits between the front door and rear door. There are a couple of things they may have done with this part. They could have moved from a dual phased steel to a press hardened stamping or gen 3 steel. This would improve the the integrity of the roll cage and improve the roll over and side impact strength. We do not produce parts for Kia, so I do not know which technology they use to solve for cabin strength.

Since they included the entire lower cross member, B-pillars and roof header with the red lines, my guess is that they may have either changed the material types on all of those or added closing plates to increase the strength of them.

My salesman just called to confirm that my order will be a 2023 and asked if I still wanted to continue. He said KIA wanted them to call all customers that have outstanding 22 year models to make sure they still want to continue with the order. I also told him if possible to change color and he will let me know next week or two as soon as KIA gets back to the dealer. told me delivery date will be between mid November to no later then end of December. Original order was placed March 9th 2022.

Saturday is October! What are your guesses on the builder being released? I know no one knows, so this is just for fun.

I’ll estimate 10/11.

I noticed on Saturday that the web page for the Telluride no longer loads.
