Hear hear for the HUD

Never had a HUD before. Greatest thing about my 22sx. It is so much a safety issue I am surprised I do not hear more about it. Everything is there in your field of view, no need to look down or over taking eyes off the road. And it works well, is colorful, big enough and I just love the heck out of it. For safety reasons make it standard. I also noticed that the prestige also has fatter tires to help from curbing. My wife curbs a lot. Oh and DO NOT swat a mosquito on the swede header! The blood spot is there forever.

Does the HUD navigation work with AA or Carplay?

I do not know. I used AA on my Explorer for a couple years, mainly for the NAV accuracy of voice commands and google maps. But after a few days with KIA NAV I found it was just as good on both those issues. Same goes for phone and music. The only downside is with FORD I could get the music apps up into the screen, KIA all I get up there is volume, fwd, rev and pause. Have to go to my phone to do things. Oh and just canceled Spotify and went to Amazon Music, FREE and it sounds better, all in HD.

I have everything turned on in the settings (including the Radio/Media Info option). So, if I have my radio turned on while driving, shouldn't I see the radio info on the HUD? I tried this today and it was not visible.

Radio info only show the current station you changed to for a few seconds, then disappears. It also tells you when you switch between SD and HD radio signals.

It would be nice to see artist and song title on the HUD or even cluster area though.

Thank you. I did not know that. Drove around for a bit yesterday and I did finally see the radio info pop-up in the HUD a few times, so it all makes sense now.

if you have a hud, when your windshield cracks (and it will) don't you need to replace your windshield with another junk kia oem glass windshield or they won't guarantee that it will work going forward?

It's recommended you use the OEM glass not just for the HUD, but for the camera

we have aftermarket on our '22 already...don't have hud...didn't notice any issue with the camera

After any windshield replacement, you should have it calibrated for HUD and driver assistance/safety (lane monitoring, adaptive cruise control, etc). In fact, it is recommended to recalibrate after the following events:

When these occur, you will want to have the calibration take place as soon as possible (in some cases, such as a windshield replacement, this occurs immediately following the procedure).

• After a windshield replacement
• Following wheel realignment
• Change of the car’s suspension
• If the camera has become disconnected or reconnected
• When your dashboard alerts you with an error message

I'm waiting for my SX-P. I paid $3K more just to get HUD.
I believe, you want the most critical, dynamic, info in HUD, such as speed, LKA and other driver assist features. I would not clutter it with info about music, artist, title, etc. - that is not critical.
HUD is there to drive safely. Do not turn it into a distracting entertainment center.

From a tire dealer:
ADAS cameras and sensors receive feedback from different vehicle parts to function, such as input from the steering angle sensor. The steering angle sensor transmits the steering wheel’s angle, turn rate, and other data to your vehicle’s internal computer. Certain ADAS features like lane keep assist may be activated based on the input received.

Vehicles equipped with ADAS need their system to be in sync with how the vehicle is traveling down the road. ADAS calibration after a wheel alignment may be required, as steering wheel sensors are often adjusted during the alignment process. Without recalibration, your ADAS may think your steering wheel is turned a certain way even when it is not. This can cause your ADAS features to perform incorrectly, putting you and your passengers in danger.

Let’s use lane keep assist as an example. If your vehicle pulls to the left or the right, lane keep assist will work to correct your vehicle’s trajectory back toward the center. But what if your vehicle is driving straight down the road and your ADAS camera or steering angle sensor is miscalibrated? Your vehicle may try to self-correct itself, even when correction is not required. This could lead to collision or injury due to incorrect road feedback.

They ordered one for me with no problems. Installed and calibrated, and has been working as normal as it did before replacing. Only thing I notice is the adhesive compound smell from the install. Especially on a hot sunny day.

I think it was in reference to the ADAS? HUD doesn’t really need any calibration. It’s pretty much light reflecting off the windshield from the curved screen on the dash.

we just had ours done by safelite as well...i specifically asked for aftermarket glass due to all the cracking issues but we don't have HUD so it doesn't matter...no issues

Noticed autostop eliminator. I love that thing. No need for foot on the brake and stops idle engine for a while. Why defeat it? Oh and after a year with it I noticed if you have the climate fan all the way up, get an orange A rather than a green one, so the engine does not stop.

i hate it...take an extra second to get the car moving for minimal fuel savings...i wouldn't have put it in if the button remembered the setting it was last left on...wear and tear on starter...i hear cars that have this feature and they start sounding worse as time goes on each time they start
