Headlight Led Upgrade

I so far have not seen a upgrade that has not produce excessive glare. You guys should not do the upgrade if you are just going to blind people on the road.
Mine don’t glare. They’re actually not quite bright enough for night driving. I have to find a way to adjust them

I am installing a set of the zdat led headlights. You guys aren't having any issues with them overheating? the telluride has a sealed cover for the light assembly that encloses the led heatsink/fan as well as the little circuit box on the wire that also gets very hot. This effectively turns the inside of the headlight assembly into a little oven? I'm really surprised no one has had them cutout (or just burn out for that matter) due to overheating? or are people leaving that cover off so fresh air can get to them which I don't think is a good idea since the cover has a oring to seal out moisture as well as a desiccant pack in the cap? They obviously don't want moisture in there.

I had some LED's with the fans that got pretty warm on the Sorento with the caps on and never had an overheat problem. Halogen bulbs let off a lot of heat also, so I don't really see it as a problem.

I purchased a set through my local custom place today that will be installed Wednesday. They’re a little pricier than the amazon options but carry a three year warranty. They also don’t have a fan so need to worry about tucking anything into the housing. I’ll post the product details and results Wednesday night after they’re installed.

Yeah but halogen bulbs have no associated electronics like the LEDs, heat and moisture are electronics worst enemy. Ide be curious to see kias led headlight assembly. Is it a different assembly entirely or do they just replace the halogen bulbs with and LED bulb similar to what we are using.

I would say it is a different housing. They have no bulbs listed to replace if one goes out. They have to replace the whole headlight assembly.

Installed some RS Terminator series LED headlights yesterday and am extremely happy with how they turned out. Need to tweak the alignment of both bulbs a little bit ran out of time last night. They’re bright though and I haven’t noticed any dead spots yet. Will take some more pics tonight for those that are interested. These are fan-less, which was nice from an ease of installation standpoint, and weren’t terribly expensive. They also come with a three year warranty.

My EX doesn't have an cover behind the bulb. I can twist the connector counter clockwise till it stops but it won't pull out. Any suggestions? OH by the way. I checked with the KIA dealer and got all the part numbers to replace the bulbs with the same bulbs as the SX has. Each bulb trough KIA is $625.00 dollars each. The fog lights are $980.00 each and the associated hardware is $724.00 plus the cost of the turn signal with the fog light switch $176.00 for a grand total of $4018.00 plus tax. I can't believe KIA would have the nerve to charge that. Please post the part number of the LED you used and how it works for you. If anyone has tried a fog light installation please post what you used and part numbers. I am sure there will be an after market fog light kit some time in the future as the Sorento has them for around $300.00

Installed mine tonight, looks great! Matches the DRLs perfectly and look nice and bright. (DRLs are on, just didn’t come out in the pics) Will report back on driving impressions soon.

I just installed RS Terminator Series LED. I also purchased a CANBUS all solutions decoder to eliminate any possible issues with the system. The issue is the wires will not all fit in the housing and I cannot in turn get the back on the headlight housing with the wires out. What long term problems do you think not having the screw cap on the headlight housing may present? Is the CANBUS decoder necessary? Thanks for you time and responses.

I have these installed without a CANBUS decoder and haven’t had any issues. Leaving the cover off can result in dust and water accumulation, which you don’t want inside the housing. I would suggest trying without the decoder

I just uninstalled and will see what happens. Thank you for the response. I really do appreciate it. Did you have to adjust yours at all after installing the headlights?

I did have to adjust them a little but it was more related to the centering. The right bulb seemed to be drifting further right than it should have been. Otherwise, I haven’t gotten and flashes or anything indicating they were blinding people.
