What did you pay for your KIA Telluride?

I don’t think new ‘73 Pintos were discounted that much (adjusting for inflation) after they found out about the exploding engines.
It was actually exploding gas tanks. If you got rear ended the differential would pierce the gas tank causing the explosion. They had a recall and installed a shield between the two pieces.

Yup, my goof. I meant to write gas tanks.

Just food for thought, I work at a Kia dealer in Virginia. It will be difficult to compare pricing from around the states since everyone's taxes and fees are different. Also, dealers charge different processing fees. Incentives and rebates are also "regional specific". Also, some states charge tax on leases monthly instead of upfront, so the payment will be seemingly inflated. What someone in NY is paying will be substantially higher than someone in Texas because of the tax rate alone.
Additionally, the rebates on the Sorento's are aggressive because Kia knew they were coming out with this model. So the "perceived 6K off sticker" is the dealers are selling them for under invoice and Kia offering up to 4K in rebates to move them.
The Telluride's aren't going to get there any time soon. You may be able to get better pricing on the 2020's once the 2021's come out.

Lol, let me explain. I actually drove 3 hours to look at FWD SX that they swore they had and they said they would hold it until I got there. By the time I got there they were writing up the sale on the FWD, they said they just sold it 15 minutes before I got there but they had another AWD available. I thought "bait and switch" and demanded to talk to the General manager and proceeded to rip him a new one. I mean I gave him a piece of my mind, ass, and then some. After I got done ranting he offered the AWD at $500 over invoice to make it right. After all was said and done turns out they actually had the FWD and actually sold it just before I get there.

Well either way, awesome score! I'm guessing Moss Green, what color interior?

I paid 32k, for a S. First payment free for founders club.

Congrats on your new ride! Any chance you can break that $32K down? S with FWD? Options? Any MFG incentives ($1,000 conquest, $1,500 financing)? Looking to place a factory order very soon and expecting multiple responses from my "offer to dealers" this week.

I’m in Temecula, CA (north of San Diego), and the local dealer is selling at MSRP at this time. I said no thanks. Overall, I’m impressed with the SX Prestige features as I compare it to my 2018 BMW X3 M40i. I know, not a fair comparison, but for what’s its worth. There are more safety features in the Telluride, it’s as quiet, seats are more comfortable, more room, and power is adequate. Steering felt positive, and not numb. No noticeable oversteer or understeer, and turning radius was amazing for the size of this vehicle. Shifting was a bit sluggish and slow in comfort mode, but faster and more positive in sport. Visibility all around very good, fit and finish good, and I like the “truck like” styling. I may sell my BMW and buy one when dealers are ready to deal.
It’s the same out here I’m Palm Springs. Can’t see myself paying MSRP. It’s a nice vehicle, but it has competition still for my dollar.

I saw people are having trouble finding SXs in any color other than Moss Green. Here is a Silver SX in the Atlanta metro area if anyone is interested (Buford to be exact). And they are at least starting at regular MSRP lol.

Yup. I emailed all the Kia dealers in OC and Riverside Counties and received various “responses”:

They’re hot commodity
We’re selling above MSRP
No discounts
No dealer can special order a Telluride

I suppose I’m spoiled by dealing with more professional brands (BMW, AUDI, TESLA) in the past. Been awhile since I’ve dealt with dealers like this. I’ll just wait till the demand “cools” down

I’m all about the patience. I have no problem haggling, email blitzing, talking about holdbacks, and waiting for prices to lower. I refuse to get ripped off, and I know prices and discounts on everything. I’m not above lowballing or walking away if I don’t like a deal.

But there is NO WAY a NEW, CURRENT MODEL YEAR Telluride SX Prestige retailing for 49K is going to be sold for $36,750 now, in the future, in any country, or on any planet (adjusting for international/interplanetary currency rates, of course).

I think 42 is possible. 40-41 if the car turns out to be a colossal dud (which it’s not going to be). 36? I don’t think new ‘73 Pintos were discounted that much (adjusting for inflation) after they found out about the exploding engines.
I agree. If you look at the kbb.com invoice prices an invoice for an SX with prestige and no other options plus freight is about 44,200. If you assume the dealer holdback from Kia is between 2-4% and at 4%, then that puts it at about 42,400. So the dealer would need to be getting some other kickbacks from Kia to sell for 36,750 and still make a profit.

Dealer holdback is 3% of invoice.

Yes we all know the invoice number and hold back. But you can never know what a dealer has in a car at any given time. There are so many variables that we can't really know what they will sell for. A dealer may very well take a loss on a vehicle if the timing is right even on a hot selling car. You just have to be patient and flexible.

This is so true. Even beyond the hold-back, there is often other cash-to-dealer that we don’t know about. They can use it to help with trades, offset holding/floor-plan costs, overhead, or profit, etc... I always try to get me some of that too. Patience, planning, and persistence!

I live about 30 mins from that dealership. They don’t actually have that vehicle in stock. If you call they get all vague and say “it appears to be in stock.” Nobody has actually seen it. 😂 It’s hilarious and so see-through
