• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... We had a 2010 Kia Soul, (sold it after 8 trouble-free years) and now we have a 2018 Hyundai Kona turbo and a 2015 Santa Fe Sport turbo.
The older car we are considering to trade for a Telluride because moving to Arkansas from California I'd prefer someting bigger with all-wheel drive. We'll definitely keep the Kona, I love that one.
I'm a 72 year-old man, former Honda tech with 22 years in the trenches.
I really like Korean cars, as a former tech it seems to me they are trying very hard to do better while the Japanese are satisfied sitting on their former glory pot.
I would also consider the Palisade but I don't like the exterior much and really hate the shifter knob.
In Arkansas I plan to get a small boat, plus the snow there, so we really could use a bigger vehicle.
Gas mileage doesn't matter, the Kona is a lot of fun for running out and around with 30 mpg.
Currently we live in Paradise, CA, "that place on fire". Our home survived the flames, but we want to move before the next one.

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. I agree with you 100%. I feel the brands like Honda, Toyota and Nissan are resting on their laurels and not bringing anything really special to the table lately. I think the Supra is a major let down, and outside of the nicely done new Camry, there's really just nothing going on. Even with Lexus, especially Infiniti - and Acura. The South Korean brands are doing exactly what the Japanese did to Cadillac when they rested on THEIR laurels...

Thanks, Sal. I could not agree with you more.
There is more. If you even superficially check into the Korean-Japanese history, the Koreans have many reasons going way beyond market share and profit
to challenge / surpass the Japanese.
And we, the car buying public, will benefit from this intense competition.
The Kia Stinger, and the upcoming "N" segment from Hyundai are already eating into the Japanese profits in a big way, and now they are going after the Germans.
We live in interesting times indeed, if you are a car guy.

Yes, absolutely... And did you know that the Chinese are officially come later this year or next? Zotye... I'm sure you know how much of a bone the Chinese have to pick with Japan. I'm highly confident Chinese automobiles will be a very compelling option as far as price and quality is concerned. China has a HUGE population - and everyone wants to be rich. It's easy to see all the bad, low quality items that come out of China with everyone and their grandmother selling something. But, like any other non third-world country, there are also high quality products being made...

The Koreans are already major participants in cars, TVs and cell phones. I think the Chinese will join in the next ten years. We'll see.
It's going to be hard on Ford and General Motors.

Zotye is set to be selling vehicles in 2020...
