Latest info on ordering through KFOS

Correct. I placed order in Nov and they put in kdealer but not in KFOS. There was a a list 10 folks ahead of me waiting on Telluride. I made deposit based on what I thought the price would be taxes and fees included. Agree on incentives they told the incentives may or may not be available when the telluride is delivered.
Oh as soon as I came in they placed the order (well it was a Saturday so they did it Monday)

PHP: Yes, the price increased for me but I also changed some options. Net difference was only $800 so I figured this wasn't the hill I wanted to die on.

Cool: Ed Voyles agreed to sell at MSRP. I also refused the dealer add-on package and they seemed fine with that. Still a lot that can happen between now & delivery but so far I'm pretty happy with Voyles.

P.S. My original order date was 12/14/19

cool I put my order in with Jim Ellis 1/27. I am assuming the order will go into KFOS now at the same time as you guys.

Don't assume... ask manager. Also Jim Ellis had some pretty steep addendums. May be worth ordering through Ed Voyles. KFOS entries can only be made mid-month based on allocations. It may not go into KFOS now if you just ordered a couple of weeks ago. There are two systems.

My understanding is that Jim Ellis adds on a rather steep dealer package that they won't let you refuse.

FYI for the Atlanta gang - I ordered a White AWD SX from Ed Voyles Kia in Chamblee GA on 11/16/19 with a refundable $2k deposit at MSRP. Got the VIN on 1/10/2020 and was given an ETA of 1/26/2020, vehicle arrived 1/29/2020 and I took delivery 1/30/2020. No mention of a price increase and the original order price MSRP is what I paid less $1000 cash back incentive and 2.9% APR.

Sounds like your order went thru KFOS prior to the price increase. Good to hear that they didn't try any last minute shenanigans, gives me hope.

I just confirmed with Kia of Muncie that my order placed on Nov 25 has NOT be placed in KFOS yet! Can someone help me understand how it works please? And Lucas said he has no idea when it's going to be entered into the system.

I placed an order with Lucas in January (not in a huge rush, just more down payment I can save, but I would still prefer sooner than later). Lucas told me that there are a couple different ways that they place orders and KFOS is only one of those. He did say that mine and all of his orders are placed that way, and that the quickest orders he has seen come in are placed through the "older" system.

It's a bit confusing. Start at top of thread - posts by @StephenCantrelle described the process. There is other information about allocations in the "Muncie - order to delivery" time thread.

Bottom line, the initial order input system called KDealer is a repository for orders. Like a database essentially. Kia was pulling orders from there too. But now, KFOS is the only system in town, and what happens is that each month a dealer finds out their forward allocations around the middle of the month. Then, they are supposed to fill those allocations with vehicles that they have in their KDealer repository - i.e. past orders. The number of allocations they receive in KFOS is a function of their overall vehicle sales (not just Tellurides) and other metrics (I don't know specifics).

So, the next time Muncie has an SXP KFOS allocation, they'd put the next in line SXP order in there. If they didn't get enough SXP allocations this month, then maybe next month... and so on. If you are 3rd in line and they get 3 allocations, your lucky day. If they only get 1 per month, then it's 3 months.

Muncie is also saying (based on post above) that Kia is still pulling orders from KDealer too for their dealership, so that could help with the KFOS issue.

Okay here we go!

Dealers were placing orders through 2 different systems.

1.) Dealer Request through Kdealer

Problem is stores were putting in fake orders.
Tellurides were being sold to people whose names weren’t on the custom sold order request.

Kia tells dealers stop or you will get penalized.(happen months ago while I was away from Kia for 6 months—summer of 2019)

2.) Kia introduces KFOS(Kia Forward Ordering System)

KFOS is Kia saying you earned “X” amount of LX, S, EX, SX and SXP And separates FWD from AWD

Kia says match your dealer request to your KFOS earnings

Kia says place custom orders into both methods.
*KFOS is only available to put orders in once a month from 15-17th..

Dealer Request could be done any time.

next problem.. Kia sees that you requested in Kdealer 7 SX AWD. But when KFOS opens up and you are allowed 5 SX AWD you are not matching them with your Kdealer Dealer Request.

translation you are putting in fake orders in Kdealer or you are not following directions in placing your orders in both systems.

solution: Kia says if you have 7 dealer request on Kdealer for a SX AWD and we allow you 5 and you don’t fill 5 KFOS allocation with matching Kdealer request then we will penalize you.

they will do so by cancelling all SX AWD orders that you currently have.

Same thing occurs for each trim example LX FWD or EX AWD. You must match up orders with your Kdealer request.

Now let’s say you match orders up Kia will not touch your other order units. Next month when KFOS opens back up you will get new allocation and you will fill that according.. placing your KFOS request by who has been waiting the longest for the specific Trim that becomes allocated.

What this means... dealers better be organized and be Jonny on the spot..

What this also means it will be close to impossible to get SXP now without ordering them. As dealers who don’t play by the rules will get none and the ones that are playing by the rules will be filling request units that are from people who ordered. You will gets your SXP by the order you put your order in. So please please ask the dealers how many orders are infront of you before you order. Ask them how many they are receiving each month on average of the Trim you want.

Also yes a smaller dealer is only allocated a smaller amount. I have been preaching on here forever that it doesn’t matter if you have 50 orders in the system if you only earn 5 a month you only earn 5 a month. Use the spreadsheet posted here to find higher volume dealers.

In addition.. order from someone who knows what KFOS and Kdealer request are... someone who will verify this. If you do not you are gambling that you are placing a order with someone whose store does not know or follow the rules and can be wasting your time waiting on nothing.

Hope this helps
Hi Stephen. We ordered a Kia Telluride AWD SX with the Espresso brown interior and a tow hitch. Next Wednesday, it will have been 7 months since we ordered it. We thought it would be faster getting a Telluride that wasn't a prestige build, but I wonder if we had picked a more popular configuration, like SX P with the napa grey interior, would we have our telluride order filled faster? At this point it feels like it's never going to be built and I wonder if we might receive a telluride sooner just placing an order for the other configuration. Did we order a unicorn? What questions should I ask my contact at KIA who ordered the vehicle to get a sense of what timeframe we're actually looking at now? Eg.. 1) How many SX Tellurides are you allocated? 2) How many special orders are in front of me...3) Would it be quicker if our configuration was more popular? --- Any suggestions of what I need to know to understand even a slight approximation of wait time at this point?

So I get that I either want to stick with the custom order I put in, or cancel that order and put in a new order. I was just wondering if Kia is bulk filling specific configurations, then moving on to other configurations. So, since my configuration is less popular, will my configuration ever be made? If they are rotating through all the most popular configurations then moving on to other popular configurations (and these orders are constantly being put in) will I always be put behind all the other orders? Is it possible that my configuration will never get made?

Which dealer did you order from?

you should ask how many SX AWD and SX AWD Prestige are in front of you.. Since KFOS doesn’t separate them your place in line is on the SX AWD category which includes Prestige and non Prestige.

Color combo no longer matters.
The dealership gets “x” amount of SX AWD Tellurides and we tell Kia exactly how we want them and they turn around and match it exactly with KFOS.

@StephenCantrelle

Hi Stephen,
It appears that there is a spreadsheet somewhere in this forum to help determine who are higher volume sellers.
Where might I find it?
Thank you,
Joan

Depends what level you got.. depends if you are referring to just putting your order into Kdealer and providing you the dealer request ID or they put your order into KFOS and your Telluride is officially assigned to the dealership

It looks like it was just put into kdealer.
I will follow-up with them and ask when and if it was entered into KFOS.
Thank You!
