Order to delivery time

Yeah I’m going to wait, no one will offer me what I got from Muncie. At best I may skate through with only MSRP but it’s unlikely. It makes no sense for a cars to sit on the lot with hopes of someone paying more for it than it’s worth. Everyday that goes by the Dealership is paying for that car. In the end it will still be sold for less than there asking price.

You won't get a better deal than what Muncie provided - as the low price leader, they caught too many orders to meet customer expectations of delivery within a 4-6 month timeframe. They got 6 SX AWDs in February. 1 SX AWD so far in March - so hopefully you'll get your vehicle in another 3-4 months. Remember that folks with September orders are still waiting... and you're a couple of months behind them. Like you said, just wait it out... keep calm and carry on.

These dealerships are franchises, who are expected to manage their business and customer expectations accordingly. Any failures of a dealership to deliver on a promised timeframe is the fault of the dealership, since they know the allocation system that Kia uses. I think some dealerships (particularly smaller ones) figured that Kia might start filling orders from kdealer (and perhaps they did initially) but that didn't work with their allocation system (KFOS) which assigns allocations based on total KIA sales volume (other models included). There were just too many orders hitting kdealer to fill from two systems. Kia has to do it this way - else, a dealership like Muncie could underprice the vehicle to attract a ton of orders and other franchised dealerships would suffer as they wouldn't be getting Tellurides to sell. Right now, the Telluride sells itself.

In the end, if a smaller dealership wants to get more Telluride allocations, then they need to order and move more Kia vehicles - Sportages, Sorentos, Optimas, etc. Kia's allocation system is designed to benefit Kia - hence why it rewards those dealers with the largest sales volumes with more Tellurides. It is frustrating for the consumer and likely the smaller franchised dealerships as well.

Ultimately, Kia likely has too many franchised dealerships - but that strategy worked fine when they were selling Rios to credit challenged customers. Now, they want to sell a premium product to a more discerning customer, it means they need to work on their dealership network. Other manufacturers have taken dramatic steps to reduce the number of franchised dealerships in the past. It's telling that some dealerships aren't even getting Prestige vehicles to sell (the smallest dealerships) - some haven't even seen many Tellurides at all. It definitely shows that there is substantial heterogeneity.

I talked to Lucas today from Muncie who has my order and I feel a lot better about it. 15th on the list. The guys do a great job at what they do, I’m going to hold out and see where the rabbit whole goes and just relax. Might end up with a 2021 with even more in it lol..
You probably end up getting a better remote start. Kinda jealous.! I just didn’t have a choice I needed a vehicle. Wish I had something to drive so I could have waited it out!

Hi,
Ordered SX-P Gravity Gray on Feb 28th promised March 10. It arrived at the dealer the very next day on Feb 29 and I picked it up yesterday, Mar 2. The VIN dropped Feb 20 based on the lookup tool. I got the car in Clarksville IN.
The Telly was already built when you “ordered” it. More like you put a deposit on an incoming vehicle.

I have my 2008 Nissan Rouge that’s still going. I have two payments left on it so I’m not stressed about getting the actual Telly. My issue is I received financing from my credit union in February with a 90 timeframe. I just don’t want another hard credit pull for another 2 years if this car comes in after the 90 days. I jump the gun figuring since I waited since November it should be happening soon, but I was to presumptuous in getting my approval.

why don’t u use Kia finance?? A lot of people talk about using their credit union are their rates better? I got 1.9 for 60 months. I didn’t think I could get it any less than that.

That depends on the credit union rates your using. My credit union is through my employer and they take it out of my pay check before taxes bi-weekly. I like the accelerated program so I won’t have my car note for the whole 60 months. I’m getting a low rate with them as well, it’s not 1.9% but low enough for me 3.75%. Also if something happens to me through medical or death where I can’t pay, my car is paid off by my credit union in full no balance owed. A slightly higher rate but there are some advantages.

You can read her story by reviewing her post history - just click on her username. It was Edwards Kia... such a sad story.
New member of the forum but have been reading for weeks. I couldn't find her story but fear my fate is similar - ordered a Gravity Grey SXP Sept 25 from Hendrick Kia of Cary (NC). Was told 8 - 12 weeks - but thinking 12 weeks most likely. Been stalking the VINs and finally got my VIN on 2/13 (which I confirmed with dealer). It still hasn't been put on a truck??? My neighbor ordered from same dealer a Moss Green SXP end of November and picked his up last night. It has been 23 weeks - I am so angry, frustrated, and plain beat down.

A 2/13 VIN should be arriving any day. Can take 2-4 weeks. Keep on pestering dealer - they will have an ETA in the computer which they should share with you. It may show up before or after that ETA depending on delivery. But, your dealer has all pertinent info.

Thanks. I was originally told 2/26 then the 2/29, then crickets. I pester daily and as of the last conversation a few minutes ago am now being told 3/9.

BTW - my order was allocated in early December which back then was a "good sign."

Ask for a screenshot - they should be able to provide that at least. It's possible it keeps getting updated... there can be issues with transportation.

Ohhhhh ok makes sense! I wondered why everyone didn’t want to take the Kia credit. I couldn’t find any cheaper. I have never worked with a credit union before.

I'm positively shocked and thrilled. I placed an order for a Moss/Dune SXP on 1/10 and my VIN just popped up today. According to my dealer I was third in line but now I'm thinking this might have been a mistake as only 1 other SXP has been allocated ahead of me. Given everyone else's wait times and my dealer only getting on average 1 SXP every other month I wasn't hopeful I'd see the car until June at the earliest.

I think everyone ahead of me at Muncie (25+ of you) should cancel and walk away! I think you can find your ideal car, albeit MSRP or above, somewhere else. Just keep looking at the VIN list! And be sure to let Lucas know to move me up when you drop off!!

Patience, Grasshopper...

Recap of my order: placed order 10/22/19. Received order number 1/9/20 with a “guesstimate” of 6 more months. Bugged him yesterday and he said it’s scheduled for March 19 delivery. I don’t believe anything they tell me but it is promising. Still looking at Explorer ST’s waiting for a crazy deal as a backup plan (or diversion, perhaps). If I was waiting since July of ‘19....well I wouldn’t have. That’s next-level patience.

Update: You guys won't believe this BS but the dealer texted me that my car is coming in <2 weeks BUT the interior is black rather than dune brown like I ordered. I called and said HTF does this happen?? No answer. Who F-ed up? I'll find out. Sure it's mine? Your name is on the order. What can you do about it? I'll see if another local dealer has one with dune and see if they'll trade (yeah, right. That'll happen) He gave me some BS that they aren't currently making dune interiors due to material and I told them that they're being made every day according to the VIN Lookup.....

I'm gutted. Don't know what to do. Five months for the wrong car. He's likely not going to budge on price (MSRP because I ordered and waited) because he could probably sell this over retail in a heartbeat (White/Black SX-P no tow).

Actually going to a Ford dealer tomorrow to see if something falls in my lap. If I'm going to sit in a black interior, I want 400hp.

So sorry to hear about your situation. Sounds like the dealership screwed you.

As to the Ford. Pay close attention to that interior. It is horrible. And remember - while the 400 HP is intoxicating...you won't be driving it like a hot rod every day with kids and groceries. Plus the premium fuel and more expensive tires on the ST. Plus - Ford has even admitted they botched the launch. With so many problems and recalls...I wouldn't want a 2020 Explorer unless it was given to me...

Now a Raptor might work!

maybe he is wrong I noticed they list most interiors as black then in a separate area it will state the right color .
