Hey All,
Just joined this evening after reading this forum for the past three plus months. I appreciate all of the posts and information that this forum provides - it's been a great resource so far and one that keeps on giving.
I currently drive a 2011 Hyundai Sonata that I've owned for 7.5 years and it's been great. However, my wife and I are expecting our 2nd child literally any day now (due date of 4/29), so I'm looking to upgrade to something bigger. My Hyundai has treated me well over the years (minus the small engine recall and ultimate replacement of the engine when the bearings seized up on I-40 while my then-14 month old was in the backseat), alas, it's time for an upgrade. I had previously looked at the Palisade and thought that was the one I wanted. But then after the Telluride kept winning award after award and I test drove one, I was hooked. Was not a fan of the local markups here in Raleigh, NC, but after reading about some of the markups nationwide on the forum, a measly $1,295 at my local dealership didn't seem so bad. And then Covid happened.
Long story longer, I've been in contact with a few dealerships recently and one stated that they had never heard of the $1k rebate that many new owners are talking about. I was close to pulling the trigger on one back in March, but wanted to wait to see what the April incentives were. I read on another thread that the April incentives were the same as March, which included the $1k rebate. I went through both the Kia and Kia Credit websites and cannot find information on there about it, so just wanted to make sure that was a nationwide incentive. Or, is this dealer pulling my chain by saying they have never heard of it (they even said it could be a ploy from one of the dealers posting on this site to get customers to come in and look at the vehicle). Granted, this was the internet sales representative, so maybe she did not have all of the information, but she pretty much said this was something she had never heard of.
Seems like more and more dealers in NC are offering at MSRP, but still trying to get a little wiggle room out of them. Unfortunately, I am married to a woman that bought a 2004 Lexus RX for $10k three years ago, so anything over $20k for her causes serious heartburn. But I'm slowly wearing her down. This would also be a first for me at buying a new car as I've always felt used provides better value, but the Telluride has me hooked.
Thanks again for all that you guys are doing!
