  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hey All,

Just joined this evening after reading this forum for the past three plus months. I appreciate all of the posts and information that this forum provides - it's been a great resource so far and one that keeps on giving.

I currently drive a 2011 Hyundai Sonata that I've owned for 7.5 years and it's been great. However, my wife and I are expecting our 2nd child literally any day now (due date of 4/29), so I'm looking to upgrade to something bigger. My Hyundai has treated me well over the years (minus the small engine recall and ultimate replacement of the engine when the bearings seized up on I-40 while my then-14 month old was in the backseat), alas, it's time for an upgrade. I had previously looked at the Palisade and thought that was the one I wanted. But then after the Telluride kept winning award after award and I test drove one, I was hooked. Was not a fan of the local markups here in Raleigh, NC, but after reading about some of the markups nationwide on the forum, a measly $1,295 at my local dealership didn't seem so bad. And then Covid happened.

Long story longer, I've been in contact with a few dealerships recently and one stated that they had never heard of the $1k rebate that many new owners are talking about. I was close to pulling the trigger on one back in March, but wanted to wait to see what the April incentives were. I read on another thread that the April incentives were the same as March, which included the $1k rebate. I went through both the Kia and Kia Credit websites and cannot find information on there about it, so just wanted to make sure that was a nationwide incentive. Or, is this dealer pulling my chain by saying they have never heard of it (they even said it could be a ploy from one of the dealers posting on this site to get customers to come in and look at the vehicle). Granted, this was the internet sales representative, so maybe she did not have all of the information, but she pretty much said this was something she had never heard of.

Seems like more and more dealers in NC are offering at MSRP, but still trying to get a little wiggle room out of them. Unfortunately, I am married to a woman that bought a 2004 Lexus RX for $10k three years ago, so anything over $20k for her causes serious heartburn. But I'm slowly wearing her down. This would also be a first for me at buying a new car as I've always felt used provides better value, but the Telluride has me hooked.

Thanks again for all that you guys are doing!

@Rance Longstrong as you may find in a few other threads/posts, the 1 of 2 best offers you may choose from (providing you qualify (i.e. credit rating) & your chosen terms line up (i.e max 48mos.)) is either:
0.9% APR
1.75% APR + $1k discount
i was aiming for the former, but looked at the numbers with Finance at dealer & the latter made more sense for us.
hope this helps.

The Cary KIA Dealership Hendricks is the best option in Raleigh. They receive the most allocations in this area and will work with you on financing. Ask for Alvin Elrod.

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. I'm glad you found us! :)

Just going to hit you all at once -

@jazzyone Thanks for that - I was on Edmund's earlier yesterday and only looked at the Financing offers, so happy you pointed that out under the Cash Offers

@ottoSXP That does help. Yeah, I'm in a similar boat. Not too worried about the terms though as I plan to pay off the loan within 3 to 6 months, so just depends on what the final numbers look like. Unless the loan origination fee is exorbitant, the $1k off is probably the better deal.

@JP# I've looked at Hendrick and they currently only have 1 on their website and it's the S. I'm hoping to get the EX Premium for the captain's chairs and auto lift gate. But I'll keep an eye out on them.

@Telluride Forum it's awesome, thanks again for all your support!

Rance, Hendricks has a list of folks waiting to be called when there is one available. It's best to call and get on the list for what you want and then wait wait and wait. Or just place a order for the exact trim you want and start the 6-8 month wait after the mfg plant goes back online.

Hendrick has two large stores in N.C. one in Concord and one in Cary. This seems to enable them to get quite a few more allocations. Jim Kildow was a big help to me. If you are worried about markups, the Raleigh market is great because there are about 5 Kia dealers in the Triangle are keeping each other honest since they all want your money.

Getting on the list at each Kia in the area is the best way. Fred Anderson and Westgate, along with Hendrick, all offered to put me on the list for the trim and specs I wanted. They had a few EX premiums come in and let me know to see if I'd change, but I was insistent on NOT premium for our needs. Good luck.

That's pretty much how it worked for me. I got $1400 discount and 1.75%.

Rance, the Kia of new Bern has 3 exp's on the lot. Black, silver, and sangria. They have been there for several days now.
I bought my s from there back in December. If you call, ask for Josiah nash. He took good care of us.
New Bern is only an hour and a half down 70 from you. And the drive thrus are open.😁
