Also having read through this entire thread... it’s interesting to me that people are driving upwards of 10ish hours each way to save 1500-2k and not factoring in the money spent on gas, tolls, hotel, maybe airfare for one way driving, food, and added mileage on their new (and existing possibly) vehicle. It would probably be nearly a wash in savings.
I think you’re way overestimating the cost to travel to pick up a car. I’ll have to travel from Atlanta to Indiana for mine and there’s no way I’ll spend more than a few hundred to do so. One-way flights can easily be found for less than $125 during the week (heck, even Delta first class is a only $250). Add in maybe two tanks of gas to get home and a couple meals - I won’t exceed $350.
