In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Prestige Package - really need it?

🤖 AI Summary

No AI summary has been generated for this thread yet.
I’ve purchased a used Audi A6 in the past. Fully loaded with the prestige and cold weather package. It was for half price of what it would’ve sold for when it was new 3 years earlier.

It basically had all the features and gadgets of the Telluride and a couple more. The build quality and performance was also higher than the Telluride. When I was ready to trade in that car for an SUV, I had to ask myself “do I want another used luxury vehicle with all the bells and whistles, or do I want a brand new car?”

If I had gone with a used luxury vehicle, I would have had to live with compromises (older infotainment, higher premium fuel costs, higher service costs). If I went with a brand new luxury, id only be getting a base model for the price of a loaded SXP. If I went with other mainstream brands, I’d be sacrificing features, paying higher purchase prices, or getting a car that is already so commonly drven and hard to find in the parking lot.

For me, the SXP was the perfect balance of budget friendly luxury that is still unique to drive at this time. Very few compromises compared to going for loaded luxury features.

if you’ve never owned a loaded car in the past, you wouldn’t really know what you’d be missing. But once you do, it’s hard to let go. To answer the specific question about Prestige in the SXP, I have used the made use of the following in the past 2 months of owning:
  • 110V Power Inverter No
  • Automatic Rain Sensing Windshield Wipers Yes, convenient
  • Head-Up Display (HUD) Yes, not necessary but cool. Helpful for SCC.
  • Heated 2nd-Row Seats Not yet
  • Premium Headliner Feels Nice, that’s all
  • Premium Nappa Leather Seat Trim Feels Nice, that’s all
  • Ventilated 2nd-Row Seats Not yet
So do you need any of these features? No. But are they nice to have if you can afford it? Sure.

Yes, very difficult to see the HUD with polarized glasses.
Had HUD on our 2003 Anniversary Corvette. Loved it. Glad to have it again. Would trade in Polaroid glasses any day.

I have it on the Stinger also and love it. I don't wear polarized but the wife does, she just tilts her head when she needs to see it.

You also loose the following options:
- Reverse Tilting Mirrors
- Satin Chrome vs Chrome
- Dual Sunroof
- High Beam Assist
- 10 Speaker Sound System (other models have 6)
- Blind Spot View Monitor
- Park Distance Warning
- Surround View Monitor (360 Camera)
-7" Screen in instrument cluster
- No Home link
- 12 way power vs 10 way power seats ( I think this is the thigh extender)
- Driver seat memory
- Heated and Ventilated 2nd row seats
- Stainless Steel Pedals
You do not lose all of these options as long as you stick with SX trim

I was fortunate enough to be able to test drive both a Model SX w/prestige package and an EX. I went with the EX for a couple reasons. The Telluride is only used by myself and my wife so we had no need for heated ventilated second row seats. We have the heated, ventilated seats in our EX. I can not see the HUD display due to eye condition. I wanted to be able to see it that is one of the reasons I wanted to test drive it. The 360 view is nice, but I saw no need for it. Memory seats are nice, as my wife has them on her vehicle, but I am the only one who drives the Telluride. My wife has driven it once in over a year. Really the only thing that I miss was the upgraded sound system. Would I have bought an SX in place of my EX, I probably would have if there was one on the lot, but I do not miss it. Price/money was not a deciding factor in my decision. I paid off my Telluride the week after purchase, as was the plan. Use the Kia website to compare the SX and SX w/prestige to see what th e actual differences are. Either way, you will not be disappointed in either th SX or the SX with the prestige package.

Some of those things you listed are my FAVORITE part of my Telluride - and I didn’t even know what they were when I first got it! The HUD is amazing and so useful. I love it when I’m using turn for turn directions. The automatic wipers are something I never thought I would even notice, but they are awesome! It’s one less thing I have to think about when driving and they have worked perfectly. I also didn’t think the second row comfort would get used, but my kids have really liked it.
The headliner and Napa seats are fine and nice additions, but the other features make the prestige package worth it. I figured I’m keeping this car for a long time, might as well get exactly what I want.

the auto sensing wipers are garbage!!. i really wish there was a manual override, where i can set the intermittent wipers myself. i have taken my Telly to the dealer a couple times for the wipers, and they tell me the function as designed. but in a light rain, they are too slow to respond, and by the time they work, the entire windshield is covered.
just saying

There is a manual override. Just move the arm down one more notch for intermittent mode to activate the wipers and deactivate auto function. You can adjust with toggle switch on arm. Do you mean you wish there was a manual way to adjust the sensitivity a bit more?

Read your OM. It is super easy to dial in your sensitivity and speed. When you do, I’ll bet you’ll love them.

Yea, mine are just the opposite.. mine are too sensitive and I have it on the least sensitive setting. It's doable though. Their is a TSB on the sensor, some were installed with the incorrect sensor. Read the TSB and see if you have the right sensor.

Those come with the SX trim level, which is different than the Prestige package.

I skipped Prestige because I didn’t value the improvements over the price.
Agreed.

The heads up display alone is worth it to me. I have it on my stinger and love it. I always wear non polarized sunglasses so I have no trouble viewing it.

Crap, so polarized glasses would make the HUD useless? Polarized glasses are to important to reduce glare.

Not useless, just harder to see.

However, polarized sunglasses are not the best.

If you are a member of Sam's Club, for about $80.00 bucks you can get a pair of high quality, non-polarized sunglasses that work excellent with HU Displays

My polarized glasses did make the HUD hard to see. Bought a pair of “expensive” non-polarized glasses on clearance at REI and they work pretty well. Some glare, but surprisingly good - I think it is a fair compromise. I was a HUD hater going into this vehicle and thought I would not use it. Definitely can get by without it, but I do like it, especially for the blind spot notification and to know if the lane keep assist can “see” the lanes or not.

See post 71 above. I linked it below. Happy with Prizm lenses - very comparable to polarized.

Yeah, I don't get why cars need rain sensing wipers. Just another gizmo to breakdown later down the road. If you can't see the rain drops in front of you on the windsheild, then it's time to quit driving. lol

yea, that's why we have them because we can't see rain..good call.
I about spit my beer out reading this. Lmao, I’ll miss not having the automatic windshield wipers (going EX trim myself), but I’ll say, the most annoying part of them was going to a car wash and getting yelled at by the person spraying my car to turn them off. I ALWAYS forgot, lol. I guess it wouldn’t matter anymore since I won’t be taking my Ebony Black Telluride through a car wash at all.

Cars don't need:

- Automatic climate control
- Auto up/down windows
- Heated seats
- Cooled seats
- Sunroofs
- Leather
- Navigation (yeah - I grew up on paper maps)
- Remote Start
- Keyless Ignition
- Heads Up Display
- the list could go on and on...

They are all convenience items that we have grown accustomed to. I for one love automatic rain sensing wipers. My current car has it and I love it. One of the best things to come out of GM back about 30 years ago. Once you have it - you won't want to go back.

Go with what you want OR what you are happy with! Lots of variables here... for me, I have had vehicles with all of that and then other vehicles without.....at this point in life (old) I very much like/want the "all of that" and I was fortunate enough to put the money down on the order in October and got the vehicle in November! The Telluride is a fantastic car.....no matter what level you buy at!
