In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. VIN Lookup Site

@jw_tx21 makes an excellent point, I had jumped on our office VPN for some work, and it stopped working. Hopped off, and they're working again - Nice observation! thanks @jw_tx21

@krypted it's possible they have a rate limit in effect for any request not coming from an approved domain or something similar, try again tomorrow morning and it'll probably work - was working for me earlier, but I'm not seeing the same thing on any of the new entries listed now out there. As an example, this gives me access denied currently, but there's not much anyone can do since we dont' work in Kia's IT 😀 https://www.kia.com/us/services/en/windowsticker/load/5XYP5DHC6MG096416

Works for me!

They are mixed in if you are viewing the default by serial # sorting. They start about ~2000 serial numbers back from today. I'm working on adding a filter for the model year.
If you type in "MG" in the search box, only 2021 VINs show up ...

You can also use the filter to sort out any 2021 models as well. Probably better to do it this way as the "MG" in the VIN may change.

Unless your electronics crap out after 36,000 miles. Why buy house insurance? Car insurance? Life insurance? This is the first time I've purchased an extended warranty. It just made sense to me for this vehicle. New model, lots of electronics, crappy 36,000 mile electronic warranty.
I did buy the extended warranty. Was offered at $2,000.00 we settled at $1,400.00. I usually do not buy an extended warranty. I caved as Kia's first year model with expensive electronics could still be a bomb. The electronics are limited to 36,000 miles? Please correct me if wrong. UVO is an example. Windows 95 is better.

Im working with an IPAD and can’t seem to make the search functions work. Is there any written instructions somewhere?

if I click on Mobil I see a list of vehicles and can see some state info but that’s all I seem to be able to do

Correct. Use a PC.

Am I understanding the VIN lookup site correctly that they are currently making 2020 models AND 2021 models on the same day?? I thought this was not possible, that once they changed the factory over to the 2021 model year that there would be no more 2020s manufactured. I am still watching for my OCTOBER order to be manufactured, so watching and waiting IMpatiently.

I don’t own one.

I didn't mean to be cavalier, but it just doesn't display correctly on Apple devices using Safari. So, a PC or Mac computer is your best option, followed by an Android device.

If that site gives you issues, try:

TellyStats

I believe it is now connected again to the same data source - you should be able to filter there on your iPad or other iOS device.

Thanks for the comeback. Yes, TellyStats works better.

In looking at the weekly info it’s hard to understand how they go from 0-400 cars a day with no days having near the same production. How can they make about 400 one day and less than 200 another day? Is the line making other KIA vehicles? Just doesn’t make sense to me.

Keep in mind that the dates don't necessarily reflect production dates, but rather the dates the VINs are scraped and added to the database. For example, the code was recently modified to look for 2021 model years - and a bunch of those were scraped and added on 6/22. But, many were likely produced prior to this date. Plus, they are just getting back to 3 shifts.

Over the next week, a better estimate of US production should emerge, and it should be more consistent.

Also, the sites only scrape US VINs. So, if they make vehicles for export, the daily number may look lower when they actually produced more vehicles, but we don't have VIN info to catalog them.

And yes, they produce Sorentos, Optimas and Tellurides all on the same line.

Exactly this. My first post says this but... shrug.

Yup. Exactly this as well.

I'd like to point out that the way the site is written right now scrapes for either 'L' or 'M' models. I'm doing a lot of juggling right now getting both. Working on fixing that but I'm putting a lot of effort into this. So be nice everyone.

Thanks again for your efforts! Your posts are clear... if only people read from beginning. Maybe some people think this is some kind of official site...

Thanks for doing this. I use the site daily waiting to see if mine is coming.

Doing a good deed like you're doing is often a thankless task, so let me come right out and say it: Thanks.

Also, are direct messages disabled on here? Tried to send you a message @DruKe with my contact info. Hit me up at ron-telluride@opayq.co and maybe I can help. I've got a significant amount of experience doing things like what you're doing with failcat and I'm happy to chip in however I can.

You need to have so many posts before messaging is enabled.

The factory change over is required when there are material changes between model years - like for the all new Sorento and Optima/K5. The difference between the 2020 and 2021 Telluride are minimal. I assume they will manufacture the 2020 until their parts inventory for those (where the parts are different) is depleted.

Not seeing new VINs the last few days. Is that expected?
