Good Dealer Dealings - List Your Good Dealer Experience

Finding this thread a bit late but had a great experience at Friendly Kia in New Port Richey, Florida. Their online site is user friendly, up to date, and I like that you can see window stickers. They also did not do any sort of surcharge and I got my 2021 SX at MSRP. I found the car online, showed up, and drive away in it a few hours later.
If I recallFriendly has a large Dealer Fee or have they stopped that?

Thanks,
Bob

Hello!
Just received my 2021 Telly SXP Nightfall in Moss Green/Black Napa Leather last night from Hilltop Kia in Richmond CA. Moe (510-230-9198) sells them at MSRP. Can't take outdoor photos in the sun as wildfires have blanketed northern CA, and air quality is horrible. Took about 2 hours for the transaction. Only down side was the finance officer's offer of the maintenance package - which was high compared to what I have seen listed here. When I declined, I was asked if I saw the value in what I was turning down and that she was puzzled why other Telly buyers had also turned it down. Felt she was implying why weren't we (as a group) smart enough to jump on the offer. I felt like saying that if we could get a Telly below MSRP - more would pay a couple thousand for service. As we are paying MSRP (first car I have ever had to pay MSRP -- and I have owned Msport Bimmers, a Shelby Mustang, etc.) I did not want to pay anything more. Maybe short sighted on my part, but when paying over $50K out the door, every penny counts. Just my humble opinion.

On the sale side - Moe was great and I highly recommend him. When I noticed a listing for Dealer Accessories (Maint and Warranty package) tacked onto my offer, we discussed it and it was promptly taken off - without any judgement. He's a good person to deal with and willing to work with you to get you the Telly of your dreams! I had contacted other Telly dealers in Northern CA, and they were all tacking on $5-7K over MSRP. One questioned whether my un-named dealer was really selling at MSRP - and that I should watch out for tacked on fees. I did my homework and calculated tax/license fees - so that I knew approx. how much the Telly would cost. If you do the prep work - you can find MSRP offers out there.

One annoying thing (for me) about the Telly is the abundance of stickers you have to remove. There are little round orange stickers on each wheel that are a pain to remove, a windshield decal warning about the wipers, and several on the driver's window (some were removed before I took the photo (Sirius XM decal, UVO decal, etc.). Static cling would have been better.
What were the dealer doc/prep fees and the warranty price? Kia Muncie has extended warranty policies very reasonable if interested

Placed my order with Ashley at i25 Kia. Now I wait for 4-6 months. She was great to work with and the shipping price is very reasonable.
I also placed an order with her last week! She's great. Still debating whether to have it shipped or take a one way flight from LA and roadtrip it back. She's been great on email and text after our initial phone call. I ordered a 2021 SX-P Nightfall in Gravity Gray w/ gray interior.

I am working with Amanda over there at i25, she has said they can pick you up at the airport, just FYI. That's what I plan on doing. Flying in (flights are stupid cheap right now), driving back to Texas. Saves about $900.

Hi

I was quoted $6K for extended warranty and maintenance service combined. Later, finance officer wanted over $2K for just maintenance - both way overpriced. The other issue with the maintenance offer was that it was through Ford (the KIA and Ford dealers were under same owner) - requiring me to get service only at the specific dealership, which is not close to my house. Tax, license and doc fees were around $5K.

6k holy crap I wouldn’t have been able to stop laughing. Dealerships, man...🤦‍♂️

No offense to the good dealerships and sales people on this forum, but it’s 2020 and we should be able to buy any vehicle directly from the factory at this point.

we should be able to buy any vehicle directly from the factory at this point.

This podcast is worth a listen to understand why we can’t

Basically - the business model is complex, and there are a lot of politics and entrenched interests involved.

I finally picked up my SXP Telluride yesterday (after a 7 month wait) at Finnin in Dubuque, IA. My salesperson was Tony, and he was great to deal with. He honored the MSRP price we agreed to back in February. I was pleased there were no surprises. They had us out of there in about 80 minutes total (including chat time,) which was great since we had a 3.5 hour drive home. Tony even came in on his day off since he knew that was our availability. He really knew his stuff when explaining the features, too.
Stephen in finance made it painless- didn’t push anything extra. Gap coverage was offered at $650, but declined. After negotiation, we got the 10 year full warranty at $1750- not quite Muncie’s price, but worth it for me. Overall, I was very happy with our experience (other than the wait, which wasn’t the dealership’s fault.)
Let me know if you have any questions!

Hi, I am interested in EX Premium (Sangria/Grey). Any recommendation on dealers in Illinois or near by states?

Hey ya. Just curious, why did you go to I25 kia versus hilltop? We ordered from Hilltop at the end of August.

Just because i25 quoted 4-6 months and Hilltop quoted 6-8 months. But I think I found one out in the wild to the same exact specs that I ordered (with a refundable deposit, of course). Fingers crossed it works out and I’ll share an update.

Aww. Gotcha. That's good that it's an option and that it works for you.

We're just wanting the SUV by April/May-ish, so this works for us. We're using this time put money into savings so we won't have to finance it, or very little of it. ;) But sometimes it literally pays to finance it for the incentives and just pay it off after a month. We also tend to keep cars for 8 to 12 years.

On a separate note, got a callback from Santa Rosa Kia a couple days ago. They have an SX in stock and he said he would do MSRP. But it wasn't in the right color/options for us.

And Dealers in CT w/o Markup that will allow me to order? Looked on Failcat and not seeing any w/ specs i want coming to CT.

All Star Kia East in Baton Rouge. The sales manager is named Gary. When I ordered my the car, they sat down with me and went through every step of the process. I ordered a moss SX to my exact specifications. They emailed me vin numbers and ETA's and quickly responded to any questions I ever had. Agreed-upon MSRP and they print me out a order sheet with all the prices in taxes outlined the day I ordered it. When the vehicle came in they hid it in the back so no consumers would ask to see it. I just got it a few days ago and they even gave me a $1,500 rebate which is no longer available

It seems that Gary no longer works there (?) -- got an (automated) email and text from a man named John Dillon. Just learned they won't honor the MSRP and want 2K over ... a bit disappointed.

I've had a great experience with Huffines Corinth (in the north DFW burbs) and Jeremy Rosado. We were out kicking the tires of Tellurides last fall and I got in contact with him as they had one close to what we were looking for. At the time, they were selling at MSRP and I deferred "knowing" supply would catch demand soon enough and prices would drop. Well nearly a year later, I reached out again to him and he confirmed they were still selling at MSRP. Tired of waiting, we had a quick zoom call and placed our order on 8/31. Jeremy was excited that we were ordering the nightfall as they appeared to be "raining" down from the factory and he thought we could have a Telly in 6-8 weeks. I told him we wouldn't get our hopes up and would expect to hear from him around the holidays. And then, low and behold, failcat displays our vehicle today. Confirmed by Stephen and later Jeremy, we anticipate delivery 10/1. I get that we got incredibly lucky on timing for our order but this review is for Huffines and Jeremy. I applaud Huffines for not taking the opportunity to charge a premium and Jeremy has been open/honest/clear/concise from our first comms last year. Well done!!

I should have listed this ages ago, but we had a great experience buying from Andrew Lipp at Peak Kia North in Colorado. Stand up guy and easy transaction. We bought a SX in Everlasting Silver in December and have been loving it ever since.
Another great experience with Andrew and his dealership. Ordered at MSRP. He was very transparent and responsive. I had to cancel my ES nightfall SX-P however Andrew helped me out the entire process I and highly recommend him and their dealership.

I had a good experience with Lou Fusz in St Louis. Ordered my AWD EXP on 8/21 and took it home 9/15! 2+ months earlier than I expected. Paid MSRP. Was satisfied with what they gave me for my trade-in.

I have always had great service from Performance Kia in S Everett WA. We ordered our Telluride early before they started the Price mark up's. and they honored it upon delivery.

Executive in Wallingford took my SX non-prestige order in July with no markup. I believe that is their approach for orders, as it wasn't anything I'd negotiated and saw reference to an earlier forum user who'd said the same. I also was offered to put in an order without markup at Premier Kia in Branford, but that was using a referral. Having already been dealing with Executive at that point, I finished up with them and expecting delivery in next couple months.
