What did you pay for your KIA Telluride?

I paid $41k for my Telluride S in the Atlanta area. Feeling like I got screwed, but I couldn't find a single dealership with them in stock or without a hefty markup. I paid a $5k markup over MSRP, but they did some work on our trade-in by giving us about $1k over what we probably should have gotten. And we got them to throw in crossbars. Still, feeling a little sour about that after reading people getting them at MSRP, though maybe Atlanta is a different beast.

@cdt930 What dealership in the Atlanta area did you buy your Telluride from?

that was one heck of a flip from deciding not to buy to buying same day!

regardless, that’s fantastic that she/you got what ya wanted both in the car and with the trade. Congratulations!
Where in Ca did you get one for MSRP?

Hilltop Kia in Richmond will sell at MSRP for ordered vehicles (y)
I believe MyKia in Salinas will as well, but they are a low-volume dealership.
To the best of my knowledge, those are your only two options in CA if you want to pay MSRP.

I mentioned to you that I bought from Ed Voyles of Chamblee. I also sent you a PM

If you mean GA*, see above
Sorry, no I meant California. I thought I had seen Ca, obviously it was late and I was tired, or something.
Wishful thinking, probably.

Thank you, Brendon.
I am so sick of hearing how I won't be paying over sticker price. I will get different wheels, tinting, wax, paint and dent warranty...........blah, blah, blah. About 6 K worth of "value added". I actually asked them what they will do with the wheels and tires that were on the car. They said they just let the tire/wheel center keep them. I said, but the car already comes with wheels and tires, how is that a deal to have to buy four more? That should be my choice! I guess it is, because it is my choice not to buy from them.

Wondering about expectations for price off msrp—my dealer is now taking orders but will only do it for msrp. Any ideas about negotiating price or expected rebates/incentives? Are other Kia models discounted much?
I found that a lot of dealer's are charging what they call an (Addendum) I paid almost $5,000 extra so it was $53,000 for mine because they are hard to find on the lot.I did make a mistake letting them talk me into extra warranty on the wheel's and tire's they said wheel's and tires are $1,000 my wife like's to ride on the curb with the rim. That said go to tirerack.com you can get a nice set 4wheels and 4tires mounted for less than $2000 and you can see them on your car if your internet savy. May want got in the way of my need! Good Luck! Don't think much haggling Going on. Tellurides have an average time for one on the lot is less than 7 day's.I got mine the same day it got the dealership with another one,the other lasted about 5 day's. You can try, just don't get dooped with warranty's give them some thought, compare co-pay worth! Get a copy of warranty before signing but read fast.Car's go fast!

I have actually talked to several southern CA dealership who were adamant that I did not have an SX on order at MSRP from a dealership in CA. So much so that I had to end one conversation with a 'GFY'

Oh boy. They love telling us how everyone is paying 10 K over sticker, especially in SoCal. I realize some people are paying over sticker. I surely hope not that much. If they are, they are just enabling these dealers to do that. Elk Grove told me they have people coming from SoCal to get them. They seem to have a pretty good inventory on their website, but I have a feeling it is because they are marking up too high. I was told if I get a LX, I could get a price closer to MSRP, but I want an Everlasting Silver EX AWD.

Elk Grove is one who does markup 10k, at least in May when I spoke to them. They tried to justify it with their 200k mile powertrain warranty 😂

Probably why they have so many right now. That is so ridiculous! I'll try to order from Richmond if possible.
I was wondering about Redding. It looks like they do the 20 year warranty as well, but I have a feeling there won't be any dealing there. Can all dealers order for us, or do they only get a certain amount allowed?

Is the Redding dealership named like Giakawa or something like that? I've called all over Northern California and would only recommend going with Hilltop Kia (Richmond). We can safely assume Redding is low volume - check Failcat to confirm - and Hilltop recently had their allocations increased. All dealerships are allowed to order for customers, however some may choose not to (for various reasons). Hilltop has been great and I highly highly recommend asking for Maria if you go with them. She told me on Thursday that she's OOO from the 1st to the 6th, but she will definitely place your order and take care of you

Thank you, I will definitely get a hold of her. I think it is just Redding Kia, and I am sure you are right about low volume. Do you mean she is off and won't be working until the 7th?

Yes, you're right. I was thinking Geweke Kia in Yuba City. Yep, she's just taking out of town and will be back working on the 7th

Probably a small dealer in Yuba City? I will definitely call Maria. It would be nice to order it with what I want on it. How long is it taking yours to arrive?

The overall time is in my signature, but it'll be 5 months from first order (May) to delivery assuming my current 10/16 ETA holds. She set original expectations for 6-8 months so it's awesome to beat that initial forecast. I will caution that several options I ordered were ultimately not included in my vehicle. Other members have posted similar experiences with their non-Hilltop dealers. It could be my order was swapped out for an incoming Telluride that had mostly the same specs I ordered, but the missing options for not necessary for me (illuminated scuff plates, interior light kit, folding cargo tray)

That is very exciting. So, I wonder if sometimes you get things you didn't ask for as well? I think the EX has more than enough for me. Thank you again for your help. It is much appreciated. :-)

I mean no disrespect, so please take no offense. You are going about this all wrong. Your perspective is backward, Economics 101:

The price on anything is an offer to sell at that price. You must then decide if you will meet that offer or not. Don’t expect the dealer to cut their own legs out form under themselves by giving you another offer before you’ve given your counter offer. You may chose to pay more or less. Most want to pay less, so we will go that route, YOU decide what you are willing to pay. Make your counter-offer.

You know what the dealer paid. It is known as invoice. Start there by making that your counter-offer.

Rebates and incentives are from Kia. They are not part of the price. Once you and the dealer agree in writing on the price you will pay, rebates come off that price.

Here is the bottom line. You work hard for your dollar and the dealer wants it. The value of the dollar is well known: it is a dollar, no more and no less.

The value of the vehicle is not known. It’s value is different to each of us. When you decide what you will pay, you’ve decided on its value to you. Stick to it and pay not a penny more. Walk away from the deal if you must, but do not waiver.

The salesperson will act like they want to keep the vehicle on the lot until someone meets their offer price. That is pure bull. Every day that vehicle remains unsold it cost them money PLUS the vehicle declines in Value
: depreciation, They want to sell it!!

DO NOT GIVE THE DEALER CONTROL. You are in control. You have what they want. The dollar. Make them earn it.

I’ve purchased over 100 autos in my day and I’ve taught buying classes for years.

Best to each of you. Now, go hunting and bring home your bounty!!!!
So do you negotiate for MSRP or invoice? I want to purchase or lease (haven't decided yet) an SX Prestige Nightfall edition. We went to a dealer yesterday and he said that would be about $60K! I was like you are crazy@ I'm still in a lease til June but lknow we want the Telluride. He asked how much I want my payments to be and I was trying to stay in mid $500-$600s. I hate having to buy a car it takes all day and I never know how much to put down or if I'm getting a good deal. I wish I knew what a good price would be for this package.
