After going back and forth with Kia I sent the following letter to Kia and my dealer. My dealer (over 2 hours away) called me this morning and they want to completely wipe the computers involved (they told me that there is more than one) and reload everything from scratch. I told them they could do it when I come in for my next service. Besides, it's hunting season where I live (it snowed last night) and I've wasted enough of my time on this issue for now.

Thank your for your reply. As
Android Auto is built into the Pixel3’s operating system it cannot be deleted. There is an option to disable
Android Auto, but that did not fix the problem. Since I am able to reply to texts with the Pixel3 connected by Bluetooth to other automobiles I question that the phone is at fault. To replace the operating system on the Pixel3 with a pre-
Android Auto version would be extremely time consuming . I am extremely busy this time of year and it will be weeks before I have the free time to do this. Also I spent almost $50,000 on the Telluride and do not feel that it is my responsibility to find the cause of this problem as I am using a mainstream cell phone.
I am also sending a copy of this email to my salesperson at Charlie’s Kia in Augusta Maine.
Below is a synopsis of the issue.
Texting issues with 2021 Kia Telluride SX with the Prestige package
The problem is that after receiving a text message using Bluetooth and pressing the reply button which brings up a list of quick replies and selecting a reply and pressing the send button a message comes up the says “Message Not Sent.”
The phone is a Google Pixel 3 running Android 11 which has
Android Auto built into the Operating System.
Android Auto works fine between the Pixel3 and the Telluride. It does not have the ability to use pre-installed replies.
Using a 2019 Toyota Rav4 or a 2014 Toyota 4Runner which have a similar interface for replying to text messages the replies were sent while using the Pixel 3. Neither of these vehicles supported
Android Auto.
Using a Samsung S8+ connected to the Telluride replies to text messages were also sent. The S8+ does not support
Android Auto.
The Pixel3 does have the option to disable
Android Auto. After doing this, replies to texts still were not sent.
I have updated the software to the lastest version. (living in rural areas is fun. It took over 5 hours to download.)
