• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... How can I turn off the incessant "battery discharge warning message" when car engine is off and I'm listening to music on system? is it even possible to turn it off?

Thanks,
- H

I've spoken to KIA since posting this and there's no way to turn it off. Their service department has had a few people ask. Maybe in the next system update...

The only way I can get it to shut off entirely is to have all the windows closed and everything off. Even if you have everything off, radio, etc. the warning is still on if the windows are open. So don't plan to wait in the car for someone with the windows open!

Start the car the "battery discharge warning message" will go away....

If you are plugged into a battery maintainer, the warning does not appear. Not practical to use in scenarios where you are waiting to pick somebody up though.

Maybe a hack could be using a portable jump start battery?

The question is, will sitting in the car for 30 or 60 minutes with the radio on really drain my battery and prevent the car from starting? If not, please don’t ping me ever 2 minutes with a pointless reminder. I don’t need to waste gas to listen to the radio while my kid’s at practice, or whatever.

I checked out the battery in my SXP and it is a 800 CCA AGM which is a very powerful battery for a 6 cylinder vehicle. You could try leaving the Telluride’s radio on while your home and have access to either a jump start on battery charger. Leave the radio on for an hour or more and see how it starts. I’d bet there won’t be an issue.

I think they are overly cautious due to the the isg system.

My battery discharge warning keeps going off if the windows are open! Nothing on; no radio. Apparently Kia doesn't think I should be sitting in a parked car with the windows open. Super annoying.

Do you roll the windows down and open and close the driver door?

Already debunked this theory in your other thread.

My son took my car to a drive-in movie and had just the radio on for about two hours. No problems starting.

Was there a "Battery Discharge" warning message every 2 minutes? if not, how did he get around that? I can't seem to get rid of it in my 2021 Nightfall Edition.

I think there probably was. But he was with his girlfriend....so yah know.....not really invested in the little warning messages. :sneaky: But the car started lickety split!

The only way I have found to listen to the radio in accessory mode without the annoying beep is, on the center screen go to Settings, Sound,Volume,System Sound,Beep, then move the beep slider to zero. The warning will still come on screen but no beep. I have found radio will stay on for nearly an hour before it powers down. If you need longer just hit accessory again for another hour. No issues with battery drain even after two hours of radio use.

Actually, nothing was debunked. If I shut the car off with the windows open and don't touch anything (didn't touch the Start button to turn on Accessory Mode or touch the brake), the warning keeps flashing.
