If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hello All,
While I was waiting a few months for my Telluride to arrive, I learned a tremendous amount from this community. I’ve seen a few posts asking for pick-up checklists, what feature adjustments people have made, and what accessories they’ve ordered. I thought I’d put a summary all of the items I found helpful to investigate in one post. If you’re currently waiting for yours to arrive, maybe this list could be a starting point to get you thinking or research further.

Basic adjustments at pickup
Wipe down high touch areas with disinfectant upon pickup
Adjust mirrors
Adjust seat – set seat memory
Set Sirius/XM favorites
Set ambient lighting
Set NAV “home” & a few other favorites
(I have not activated UVO yet. Still undecided on that.)

Accessories and Extras

Floor mats
I went with Smartliner and am quite happy with them
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08259QR42/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

2nd row captains chairs covers. For the times I have my two grandkids with me.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LBRDARU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

3rd row seat dog protector. Just wanted something quick and easy when my daughter’s dog is with us. This works great
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FNFXFZD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Trailer hitch parts
Hitch mount and ball (I only tow a utility trailer)
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001EOV492/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

License plate frames
I bought a pair of these – waiting for my license plate to arrive before installing.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CV5PLFM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Added cup holder cell mount

Replaced console organizer
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07W3RWF63/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Cargo mat
I’m on the waiting list with Turner Kia for a Premium 60/40 split mat. Hopefully soon!

PPF & Ceramic
I did a full-front PPF (I went with XPEL Ultimate Plus after a lot of reading). I was really careful in finding an installer.
Note: They need to remove the TELLURIDE letters on the hood to install the film. I had pre-ordered a replacement set from kiapartsnow.com and gave them to the installer when dropping off the vehicle:

Also did XPEL Fusion Plus Ceramic coating. Since handwashing is difficult or impossible in the winter where I live, I made a list of touchless car washes near me.

Extended warranty
I normally don’t buy them, but this time I opted to take the offer from Muncie Kia. I called the underwriting company (Fidelity) and spoke with them about the claims process, and they verified that my local dealer was on their list.

Google review of dealership
I had a really good sales experience with my dealer, so I made sure to leave them a good google review.

Adjustments made to the default safety features after driving awhile
This is NOT meant as a general set of recommendations, just what I prefer after driving my vehicle for about 10 days. These are only the items I changed from the way they were set at the factory. If you're a new owner, I would read about these in the Owner's Manual, test them (and others) individually, and see what suits your driving style.

Adjusted Heads Up Display height & brightness to suit my driving position

Set Rear Occupant Alert - Off

Set SCC Reaction - Normal

Set Leading Vehicle Departure Alert – Off

Set Lane Departure Warning – Off

Set Lane Following Assist – Off
Set Lane Keeping Assist – Off
Note: MANY people like LFA and/or LKA so it’s really important to try them for yourself and form your own opinions. While I love SCC, I find the lane assistance features somewhat annoying.

Set Highway Driving Assist – Off

Set Forward Safety – Active Assist

Set Blind Spot Safety – Warning Only

I’m looking at doing Xpel too. Since I have a SX would I need to find the satin finish telluride lettering or is it all the same?

I think Muncie Kia is so good that I'd consider all the warranties with them. Glad things worked out with the local dealer on Fidelity.

Also, I think it's worth noting a Yelp review would go a long way with the dealership, maybe even further than a Google one. Facebook a little less so, but certainly another area for review praise.

Accessories and Extras

Forgot to ask - did you find any links for side step bars and/or lighting kits? They're popular enough (not to mention useful enough) to consider adding to the list.

yes, I bought the same one for our soon to own Telly

How were you able to determine that it'd work for the Telly? Sounds pretty cool.

I can't speak on the behalf of those who purchased it, but there is a review on the console organizer page that mentions that it fits the 2021 Telluride.

This is the part I ordered from kiapartsnow.com: 86310S9010. Worked perfectly. I would check with your Xpel installer to make sure they're going to be removing the letters as part of the process first.

I didn't, no. I didn't want the side step look, and I ordered the factory lighting kit on mine. But certainly those might be useful for some as well.

From looking at the car it appears the "Telluride" is a glossy chrome. I ordered a new set from the Kia dealer near me as it was only 5 dollars more once shipping was included with Kiapartsnow. The installer strongly recommended I get new letters as he doesn't use precut Xpel and says the fit and finish is way better if he removes the letters and then reapplies them.

And as a side note, we get absolutely crushed price wise here in LA when it comes to Xpel and ceramic coating. Holy cow! I negotiated a bit but still got taken to the woodshed. Damn! I've never done either before so I'm hoping it's worth it!

Sorry to hear about the price of Xpel. From my research, I do think it's the best product. When installed correctly, you can't tell it's there. If it's any consolation, your ceramic will probably last a lot longer in LA than mine will in Minnesota (assuming you wash it correctly). Winters are going to be tough on it. :)

Question about ordering. I want to get my car in March/April timeframe. Ordering an SX prestige. Was wondering if you all would have suggestions on price negotiations (dealer says they are going to work a good price..hummm...)? They said something about 5k off since there is no "delivery fee" when I order direct. Can you share your experience ordering factory direct and what it was like, and what I should/should not do? Thank you!

I haven't seen any honest dealers discounting $5k off of MSRP so that dealer maybe trying to get you in the door. General norm is MSRP for Telluride these days minus whatever is the flavor of the month from Kia incentives. Obviously lower than MSRP is always good, but do not pay penny over MSRP. Kia destination charge(delivery fee) is included in window sticker. Any dealer added delivery charge, whether they take it off or not, is BS. Go to Kia.com, build it to your spec. It will give you actual MSRP+Destination. The only legit charges after that will be tax, title(registration), and doc fee. <---Research this for your state before you head in. Optional Extended Warranty should be less than $1500 for 10y/100k/$0 if interested. Everything else above that is dealer fluff and avoid it at all cost.

Thank you! I will certainly do my diligence and look up things before going. Any suggestions on how long it takes to get one from factory order? I know it varies, but what wondering what others have experienced.

There's been a lot of discussion about waiting times for SX factory orders. Use the Search function and look for a thread called Non Nightfall SX Prestige Waiting Room. Many people have listed their timing from ordering through delivery.

As for price, there's a fairly big regional difference. I haven't heard of anyone making an order getting substantially lower than MSRP (minus any financing incentives). In some places, markup over MSRP is common. If that's the case where you live, you can consider ordering remotely and having it shipped to you - others on here can help with that. Regardless of what route you go, before you place a deposit, 1) make sure it's refundable, and 2) get a written (or emailed) out-the-door price with details (price + destination/shipping + tax + registration + doc fee). Don't wait to confirm that until after your car finally arrives.

Excellent advice. Greatly appreciate it. I will check out the other forum.

I bought this and it fits perfectly in my 2021 Telluride!
