• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... 14.10 update (November 2020) now available

Is this associated with the update? My understanding is that it did this before the update and is intended to be this way.
This? You didn’t quote who or what you are referring to in your question. Are you referring to the backwards seek/skip/fast forward...?

Sorry learning to use the mobile version of the site. Was referring to the backwards seek button. Check two posts up.
That’s what I figured but with 9 pages of post sometimes hard to tell.

What used to be an immediate boot up now takes 30 seconds or so. The home screen layout is a waste of space. Wish there were color options other than Prince purple.

Woah the drive mode animation is cool. Do you know if this applies to all models ? I dont think the Telluride or seltos had this before with the old software. I know the stinger did.
The drive mode thing is not new, it’s been there from the beginning. Only thing that is different is the graphics to match the new software.

I turned it off not long after I got my vehicle because it was annoying.

That’s when you’re in the actual map though right? I’m referring to the Home Screen that has the clock on the left and a purple gradient that shows the map on the right side. In the actual map I’m pretty sure the view is one of the 2D options.
According to the video aperry shared, there is an option to choose in the user setup screen when making profiles in the UVO infotainment screen.
  1. 2D Heading Up
  2. 2D North Up
  3. 3D Bird View

I’ve never seen it. Where do you turn on/off that animation? Is it only on AWD cars?

Let me see if I can get back there and try it. Cool thanks for sharing!
I mentioned that unfortunately doesn’t do anything for the home screen back in post 144. All that preference does is pick how your regular map is initially set up.

Setup > Vehicle > Drive mode change alert > detailed/simple/off.

It shouldn’t be for AWD only. My wife’s Palisade has it and hers is FWD.

That's exactly my thinking. Keep it simple, safe and usable for the driver. The nav looks decent, but I don't really use it. I think I'll hold off on this update.

Also, I want more widget options. Or the option to have a split two-widget screen as the home screen rather than three widgets. Those might tempt me on a future update.
It seems like the rest of the “updates”for computers, the people making it “better”are not the end user. They forget the environment the unit is used in and act like it’s for a laptop on a desk. My 66 year old rant about system upgrades in general. 🤪

I wish I had left the original on it with the presets I could move around. and a home screen with usable info 🤦‍♂️ 🤦‍♂️ 🤦‍♂️ 🤦‍♂️ 🤦‍♂️
So being a new owner I have to ask, is the owners manual wrong in suggesting that you can have your 10 favorite presets listed first and then the rest get listed in numerical order? I tried twice when setting up and everything just goes back to numerical.

It depends on what version of UVO your car shipped with or if you or your dealer already performed the update for you. The manual was likely written for v13 of UVO. Any version starting from v14 only allow presets in numerical order (all 3 of the last iterations of v14). Basically any software version released after April 2020.

The non-navigation head units (LX and S trims) likely still retains the option for desired preset ordering. Since the UVO updates have only been available for the navigation (10.25”) head units.

Thank you. I thought I was missing a step or something else. Makes it a chore to find the channels you want. I guess I'll just preset 10 and search for any others I might want when the mood hits me. Not a very well thought out system.

Does anyone know if that's something that can be done with the previous UVO version, or is this something new to the Purple Rain update? Because the auto rotation of the navigation map is super annoying to me and I'd love to be able to lock orientation so North=Up in both 2D & 3D.

The options are the same in maps for all versions to date. Just hit the compass at the top of the map to cycle through the different modes.

Was going to install the update and when I started it gave me the following options that were not explained in the instructions. Which should I choose? What is the difference?
  • Quick Update
  • General Update
  • Scheduled Update
Thanks

Quick. Always do quick. Anything else will be a colossal waste of your time.
