• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... 14.10 update (November 2020) now available

I just updated mine last night after my son was particularly upset over how poorly utilized the Android auto screen was. As a side note, he's a software engineer so he just grabbed the reigns an updated it for me to find out that the android screen is somewhat better but still not sharing its screen but everything else is just plain weird. There really wasn't anything wrong with the previous version. I just bought my car which was a 2020 that had the original firmware which was about 5 version old so a update was in order. I still would of updated just to be current since the old one was never done so I'm not sure what the ones in between had achieved.

This was a feature added from the very first v14 update. You need to have your phone unplugged from the USB port. Go to phone projection settings in UVO > Android Auto and enable split screen.

I mentioned that unfortunately doesn’t do anything for the home screen back in post 144. All that preference does is pick how your regular map is initially set up.

Setup > Vehicle > Drive mode change alert > detailed/simple/off.

It shouldn’t be for AWD only. My wife’s Palisade has it and hers is FWD.
Yea I realized that. I setup another profile and selected another view and it still went to the 3D screen. Oh well.

Regarding the drive change mode, I don’t think I have that option either.

Nope not on mine. I only have Climate, Seat, and Lights in that menu. I have a 2020 SX FWD.

Was going to install the update and when I started it gave me the following options that were not explained in the instructions. Which should I choose? What is the difference?
  • Quick Update
  • General Update
  • Scheduled Update
Thanks
I just finished the general update. It took about 3hra. I'd do the quick update if you haven't. Also it makes everything purple and threw all my presets into the Guest profile

If you read through this thread, you'll see all the good, bad and ugly of this update.

Another victim to the full update. RIP time.

Quick question....since I'm new to the "do it yourself" update process: Once I have the update on my USB drive, how long does it take to install the update into the vehicle?? Thanks......

I didn't hang around when it updated but it seemed like 30-60 min.

Step one: are you *sure* you want to update? A lot of (most?) people who have posted in this thread dislike the new version.

Good point....I'm not exactly sure, but I'm not concerned if I lose presets, etc...... can reenter those. If there are really good benefits to the update, then I would probably do it.

Despite what was said, It wasn't a huge deal to me after using it for a week. I think developers try to meet so many desires with changes and upgrades that they can't please 100% of the users at any time. Despite some of the interfaces being different and perhaps not what other want, I felt the added purpose to work out programming bugs and other issues outweighed the bad. Of course I went from original firmware to latest. There was some features added that weren't even an option with original firmware, (Nature sounds, etc.) Those that only recently upgraded, I'm not sure what they are gaining and can understand the reluctance.

Read through this thread. I'm not sure people have found benefits, and there's a lot of disappointment with the Purple Rain look, cheesy radio graphic and loss of widgets on the main screen.

about 30 minutes if you do the quick update and about 3 hours if you want to do the full install, which accomplishes the same thing but takes 6x longer. But only with the full update will you be filled with regret and feel the need to come back to this thread to warn others for the 100th time that they should be doing the quick update.

Overwhelmingly negative reviews of the update. If you don’t use 3 widgets on the home screen or use the preset buttons on the touchscreen for Radio, you probably would be perfectly fine with the update though.

What I don't understand:

1) why can't map data be updated separately from software update?

2) why can't software 'updates' add the 'improved' features as options, leaving previous functionality if the new features are not selected?

I agree with those that say I bought the vehicle with a set of features - I should have the choice to only change the pieces I want. i.e. I prefer the 3 widget home screen, but would like the split screen Android Auto - to get AA, have to lose 3 widget home screen...

I'll stay with the old... don't use the nav anyway, so map updates are not important.

Full disclosure - I still use Windows 7 😁

But the increased risk of malware for unsupported version of Windows. 😱

Thank you for the advice! Given all that I have read, I do not see a NEED to update and nor do I see much benefit. I also am "used" to the 3 widget home screen........so, I think I will pass on this update.
