2020 Telluride AWD rear end jerking thumping and vibrating

Thanks . I like the vehicle the fact that it seats 8 and is AWD is a plus .Those are the reasons I buy it . I love road trips in the Summer I go to Georgia every year but since this plandemic I have not gone anywhere. The other day we take it for a two hour drive to look at a place. This was one of the worsts two hours I ever driven I couldn't go above 100 km that's 60 miles on hour in the States. That to me sucks the fact that it's a new vehicle. The dealership I bought it from the guy want sell me another one trade this one back in but I don't want to start any payment all over. Forget that. The plan was to buy this drive it for ten years . So pay it off in five and drive it for five no payments . But that doesn't seems like it gonna happen just about now. 😆 You ever hear the saying man a plan the devil a wipe out.lol this feels like that.

Your vibration problem seems more severe than mine. FWIW, at its best my car's sound and vibration are not hardly noticeable. But at its worst, it's a noticeable vibration and sound, and very specific to between 65-75mph (completely smooth slower or faster than this range). The sound is similar to the resonant frequency that you might hear sometimes when a window is open at high speed. The vibration is a felt through the gas pedal and the steering wheel, and while it's minor it's still very noticeable and annoying. The inconsistency and mild nature of it (combined with other people's dealer experience) are making me hesitate to ask the dealer to address it.

The way you describe your problem, I think you should ask them to provide you with a financing solution that fits your payment requirements. Seems to me they should be able to make this work out for you so that you're not paying more than you currently are and the payments stop at the same time. Earlier in this thread I believe there are some tips for to request arbitration, etc.

If you really want, Lease it.
because if you hit the vibration jackpot, you would be stuck with for years.

also test drive the vehicle before taking the delivery.

Well another update. The dealership has now had my Telluride for 96 days. The latest repair was replacing the transfer case. Nothing changed, issue still persists. Corporate is moving my complaint to another department to provide options on a buy back but she said I won’t here from them for a couple weeks. This company is a complete sack of garbage. They do not care about their customers at all. Just made my 4th car payment since they’ve had my vehicle, paying insurance on a vehicle I don’t have possession of, and absolutely no solution in sight. It’s unbelievable.

Sorry to hear. Hope they find a solution soon. At least they have replaced the shaft and transfer case.
Mine wouldn’t go beyond wheel balancing.
All I got from them is that they are looking into it as more customers are complaining of vibration.
I read on the other telluride forum some EX models also reporting this issue.

Sorry to hear I have been having vibration issue from the first year . They changed a few things and still. So I am trading it back in hopefully I get a better one this time around. They changed the drive shaft and rear differential so far. I changed out the front brakes and still feeling vibration. So am getting rid of it . Let the dealership worry about it now. I buy a new car to get away from problems . Now if this new one gives me problem kia will lose me as a costumer . This will be my fourth kia . I like the smooth drive of the minivan but I don't need a van any more.

What year and model, options did you have? Was it AWD for FWD? I feel like its all the AWD Tellurides.

They sent me an offer letter. They will buy it back for purchase price minus mileage and rebate. I paid $47,255. Mileage reduction is mileage/100,000 multiplied by purchase price. Mileage is 27,626. That comes out to $31,570.06. For reference Carvana offered me $46,499. So three options:

Option 1 - Replace it with comparable Telluride but no details provided on what that means. Is it a 2021 or 2022? Same package and options? Color? I would be responsible to pay half of the mileage deduction which is roughly $6,500 out of pocket. Cashiers check only, due to delivering dealer. My loan stays the same since this is just a substitution of collateral. I owe roughly $22,100 with 36 payments left. If you do quick math, Im losing about 5k vs being able to sell to Carvana and buy a new comparable 2021 per Kia's website and my knowledge of taxes, title, license, etc.
Option 2 - Buy Back at $31,570.06
Option 3 - Pay me $2000 as a sort of rebate on the payments Ive made (made 4 so its not doesn't even cover them). They call it good faith. I would continue to let them replace crap until it works again. If I accepted I can't file another claim if its not fixed. Im just screwed at that point. Remember that my case has been open since February and they have physically had my vehicle since March 12th and have not gained any traction on fixing it since then. Replaced about everything except the transmission and rear differential at this point.
Option 4 - Reach out to BBB Auto Line and go through the courts to get a better offer for buy back, etc.

Im open to thoughts from anyone that wants to share what they would do in my shoes. I have to give them an answer before July 1st even though they get 60 days to process whatever option I choose.

Are you still covered by lemon law? If so, pursue something in that direction. Get a lawyer to help. They can get you better terms and get their fees covered.

Otherwise, take the Carvana offer to make yourself whole, and move on to something different.

With the used market being pretty strong, especially for Tellurides, option 1 and option 2 don't seem great. The Carvana deal seems pretty good. Even better, could you take the $2,000 in option 3 knowing that it probably won't get fixed the way you want, then a short time later take the car from them and then sell it to Carvana (or try Carmax)? That you have a clean slate to buy what you want. And if you could find a dealer who would sell you a new Telluride at or near MSRP you wouldn't be out too much money and maybe none at all. Or you could just buy a different car and you wouldn't have a big (or any) loss in that situation too.

I've been following this thread because when I test drove an SX AWD in October it shook at highway speeds. I picked up the car a couple of weeks ago and it has ~500 miles on it. No noticeable vibrations yet so fingers crossed, but I'm still a little nervous. And hopefully I didn't just jinx it. I figure if it happens I can always sell the car and not take a big hit. But can't wait 7 months for another one.

My states Lemon Law is 2 years or 24k miles. Im over on miles but my complaint was not over 2 years at the time of submission but it is now.

$46,499.00 + $2,000 = $48,499.00 Original cost = $47,255. $48,499 - $47,255 = $1,244.00 more than paid.

As Telluride Tom suggested, this appears to be the most financially advantageous (and may evaporate if the market changes)

Considering tax, title and license fees is it really a 5K loss (maybe license/registration can be transferred...)?

Maybe they would agree if you tell them you would take the buyoff money at $3K; that's the best deal for them, since they will no longer have an obligation to fix the vehicle.

Additionally how inspired do you think they will be to continue replacing parts once you accept the money and cant make another claim?

If you sell it to another dealer, they probably just sell it some one else without fixing the vibration. And pretend to not know anything about it if the new owner happens to complain.

yes, it's a kia. Relax, you have already stepped on a rake and there is nothing you can do about it. The main foreclosure process has started.

I love our Kia , had a camera issue that has been addressed and fixed. Kia customer service has been helpful. The service person I was using was horrible and they finally fired him after that the issue was fixed. Let the car there while on vacation and help from the Kia Tech Line they found a loose connection in the kick panel. I would like to know the story since there is 3 or them. Yours,Theirs, and the truth.

@iLikeTacos ,
do not take compensation as part. when you agree to compensation, you will be forced to sign a release stating that you, your representatives, your followers, etc. remove all responsibility from the kia and can no longer demand a solution to this situation. do you understand what this threatens you? If you sell a car, the next owner will feel the vibration - turn to Kia, and he will be sent to the ass new owner. And then what? rightly he will come to you.
Not any partial monetary compensation.

Ask away, or better yet use your keyboard and go read the start of the problem in this thread. I've been more than accommodating to them. No one is disagreeing with what I have shared here, its all 100% factual. The issue is around how Kia proposes to fix it. They plan to f*ck me over with a way below market buy back option, or CHARGE me an outrageous amount to give them the ability to replace the vehicle that they have yet to be able to fix, still under warranty, etc. Forget the miles, its under 100% warranty. A customer shouldn't have to pay to use the warranty.

You have to add in the fact that I have to pay sales tax on selling the vehicle to a third party which in my state is 5%, so about -$2300ish. Then pay whatever the markup is on a new vehicle.

I get you on the tax and markup situation. Are you saying the problem was initially documented with Kia after 2,400 miles?

Perhaps lemon law is all that is left if the issue was initially identified early enough.
