• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... 2020 Telluride AWD rear end jerking thumping and vibrating

Lol... because of the vibration issues and current ridiculous pricing, I'm looking to buy a used Audi Q7

Great! Then why are you still posting here? ;) From the time you joined until now you could have ordered (below MSRP with Kia incentives) and taken delivery. Let us know how the Q7 works out... it's a fine vehicle. I have no vibration issues in SX-P with an August 5 build date. Vibration could possibly be transportation related.

It very well could be transportation related, I just got mine beginning of October and don't have the vibration issue either...hopibng to not get it later either as some have said theirs didn't show up for some time. If that is indeed the case, I wouldn't think it would be transportation related.

I am now paranoid about this - thinking that every vibration I feel in the car (engine, road condition, engine growl from trucks and muscle cars around me) is coming from the driveshaft. For my peace of mind, would someone please explain: what does the driveshaft vibration feels like? Is it really noticeable? How do you tell if vibration is coming from the driveshaft and not from other sources?

Thanks.

Would like to know this answer as well. If someone could describe the vibration that they feel. Where they can feel it, etc?

It's earlier in the thread... lots of discussion on this. I wouldn't be too paranoid - Kia has built and sold now about 50,000 Tellurides - half of which are AWD (maybe even more than half). Even 100 problems with AWD system wouldn't be all that bad - not desirable of course and no consolation to owners who rightfully deserve compensation. Kia does appear to be resolving it in some vehicles where possible... they did resolve it in Albert's.

G: I believe there are many Telluride AWDs with the vibration problem. Most people are oblivious to the issue and likely assume it's a characteristic rather than a defect.

Even Kia and Hyundai (Pallisade) dealers are selling them without repair after being told by their techs the vehicles on their lots have the vibration.

Speaking from personal experience, my dealer had at least four defective AWDs on their lot - mine and three others.

The owner and service manager were playing dumb. They admitted mine had a bad rear driveshaft and transfer case. They took another out of service when trying to find me a good one. Another, the vibration was twice as bad. The fourth started with a hum and then the vibration came along, worse than my original truck.

So, a combination of oblivious owners (no offense, not everyone is mechanically inclined) and greedy dealers = the illusion this problem isn't widespread.
Oh wow..so many stupid and oblivious AWD owners...zero issues/vibration on mine, but then all I really know about cars is how to find the gas filler cap.....I get that your are pissed about your need to "swap" but maybe tamp down the Kia/Hyundai conspiracy talk until there is a flood of comments/issues here and elsewhere rather than a handful of owners with a problem. Is that not the point of a warranty in any case?

Never said stupid, you did. As a founding member and follower of this thread, you cannot honestly say the dealers are truly interested in resolving this issue.

I've owned the following 4x4s/AWDs: 72 Chevy Blazer (lifted w/ 36" tires), 76 International Scout II (was 2WD, I converted it to 4WD. also lifted, etc.), 92 Ford Bronco, 2006 Subaru Impreza, Infiniti G35x, three different Ram 1500s, and a 2009 Toyota Highlander. Not a single one had a drivetrain issue like the Kia, ever.

It's 2019. Automobiles have been mass-produced since 1907 and the Ford Model T. For any modern vehicle to have issues such as the Telluvibe is pathetic.

I disagree! Look at Ford's recent issues with the Explorer and Aviator rollout? Those are described as far more serious and safety related. Many new vehicles will have issues - particularly as buyers want more electronics, more automated safety equipment becomes standard etc. Many of those cars you mentioned had true 4x4 systems which are very different from AWD systems which are FWD most of the time. We don't even have a diagnosis for why this happened - maybe they were secured incorrectly on a transport truck due to lack of tow hooks (as @Bear famously pointed out). Who knows... there's a lot more to be determined here before claiming every AWD that Kia has built is flawed! Your dealer worked tirelessly with you and ultimately got you into an FWD to keep you happy! That dealer didn't have to do that! Your solution was resolved - why do you feel that dealers don't want to resolve this issue? Makes no sense!

You got me on the posting here but..ha

JW, the dealer did not work tirelessly. They lied about trucks being fine that were not. Yes, it worked out in the end for me and for that, I'm grateful.

I'm aware of the difference between part-time 4WD and full-time AWD.

Yes, all car companies have issues. Again, it should not be, given how long automobiles have been manufactured. Vehicles are rushed to production, not properly tested and then you get an exploding Pinto! Lol!

Speaking of Ford, they had an issue with sudden acceleration in the early 2000s. I investigated a death that was caused by one. During my investigation, I learned the problem was happening with multiple Explorers, Crown Vics, Mustangs and Rangers of that vintage. Ford dismissed the claims as operator error. Look it up on NHTSA...

My findings were contrary to Ford's. No manufacturer wants to be responsible for death and injury caused by a defect, let alone the cost for replacing whatever the part is on tens or hundreds of thousands of vehicles.

So, gang. My point is, it's a shame when one goes out and spends their money on a vehicle only to have problems out of the box and then, face resistance and deception when all you want is a properly sorted new whip!

As I've started a while ago, to all AWD Telluride owners without the drivetrain issue, I wish you years or trouble-free enjoyment! To those who have a TelluVibe, I hope you find a satisfactory fix or resolution.

So you are saying ALL mass produced cars nowaday should not have issues? Ok, name me a brand that does not have ANY issues.
