AC Leak. AC Issues

How did you get it behind the grill without removing the bumper? From below or above...or thru?
Through using plastic gutter guard.

Plate removal is straightforward. First obviously are the two philips screws at the top holding the plate to the bracket. After that just three philips screws that hold the bracket to the bumper. I think it is also an option to trim/dremel your bracket so you don’t have to remove it at all for installation of the upper mesh screens.

Below is a photo of the bracket and my plastic gutter mesh behind the grill (no bumper removal needed). Mine has held up well, no stuck leaves and no cracks or damage since install last June. Not perfect but serves its purpose.

I was looking yesterday and really don't want to pull the bumper. How did you get the screen through the grill and now did you manuever it and fasten it. It looks like if cut to right widthe it will pass though but getting it fastened seems tricky. I pulled the akid plate down hoping to access fro below, but thats a no go. Any help appreciated. Want to get this done before a road trip next weekend.

Hey guys did mine today. Bought the steel mesh grill online, electrical tape around and door guard edge around as well. Black zip ties turned facing in. Total cost $26 CAN. Or $21.11 US. 🤓 I will be trimming the electrical tape.

Hi everyone, I just joined this forum, and I also frustrated with the AC in my Telly. Back in May my AC blowing only warm air, took it to the stealer, I was told that they have to perform AC service $250, which includes a dye, and drive the car for few days and see what happens, so the AC worked for 2 weeks, and today blowing warm air again. Obviously there is a leak somewhere, so taking it back tomorrow and see what they can find. definitely there is a quality issue with Telly's AC system.
So took my Telly back to the dealer as requested, and the technician detected a leak in the condenser, but they don’t know what caused it. Seems like a quality issue to me, I think KIA should issue a recall to rectify the problem. I am just happy that they said it is covered by the basic warranty, ooff!!
Off course the part is on back order, so now waiting for it to arrive and go back in for replacement hopefully 🤞
After Fighting with Kia for over 4 weeks, the dealer received the part yesterday, and I went in to replace it this morning, and after they took the whole front facia apart they realized that stupid Kia send them the wrong condenser, so now I am back to square one. I am so frustrating with Kia. So the dealer placed another order for the condenser and who knows how many weeks will take Kia to send the right one. I love the Telly but unfortunately it has quality issues and Kia not helping.

After all the hype, it seems like the Telluride is a piece of junk like the rest of KIA’s products.

Assuming you have enough extra material, covering the next grill slot up would be a good idea as well.
Steve

I ordered the screens from Steve and originally had them installed on the outside. After a bit of fiddling it was pretty easy to slip them between the grill openings and get them installed. Bottom ones fit more or less perfectly. The top around the license plate area isn't a perfect fit, but is enough coverage. Hardly noticeable from a distance.

How did you achieve this? Would love to get a mini guide on this.

Its pretty simple. The lower sections are the easiest. The upper section just requires more fiddling to get it through the grill.
  1. Pre-thread the zip ties through the screen.
  2. Pull the zip tie all the way through, take the take tail and thread it back out. The cable head and tail should be on the same side.
  3. Push the screen through a opening, and straighten them out.
  4. I used a pair of pliers to pull the cable head forward over a grill section. (this makes it easy to zip tie)
  5. Zip it together. Snip the tail. Push the cable head under the grill section.

Beautiful! My question is: Will the wire mesh not affect the function of the range finder located behind the lower grill? It's a sensor to measure the velocity and range of the vehicles in front of the Telly, I think. Please see attached pictures of the sensor. Also I googled it and this is how I found out about this sensor--https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32966363319.html. I have a Telly EX 2021. Thanks.

That photo looks more to me like the wire harness for the horn.

The radar sensor for SCC is behind a plastic rectangle trim right below the front license plate. If installing mesh grills for the openings, should have no impact on function of the radar.

I think the quality issue is with your dealer. I'd be willing to bet they ordered the wrong part and blamed Kia Parts. I've owned multiple higer-end vichles with minor - nit design flaws that allow road debris to penetrate raidiators, intercoolers, and condensors. The key to getting these things resolved is your relationship with service leadership at your delearship and what you're able to negotiate. Also, be mindful, recalls in the US only apply to issues affecting life and saftey.

Enjoy the ride.

"That photo looks more to me like the wire harness for the horn". It could be! But it's labeled (please look closer at the image) as PF3S. I googled what that means and it seems a proprietary brand of laser range finder? I also included an image of an example of PF3S product. Thanks.

Anyone know if repairs would have been covered with Kia platinum wraparound extended warranty?

Ok I have had my Telluride since May 2019. No issues. November 2019, same issue where I went in my garage and noticed smoke coming out from behind my grill. Took it in, Dealer could not find what it was and blamed it on a plastic bag probably burning on exhaust. Now it’s April 2020, and since its getting warm again, I used my AC only to have warm air. Took it in, they said the same thing about a rock damaging a condenser and it’s not covered under warranty. It will cost about $1400 to fix. I am gonna fight this.
How did you fight it. I just got the same answer.
