AC Leak. AC Issues

We were just told a rock put a hole in the AC line and it is not covered on the warranty so it will be a $2,000 fix. It's been driven on the Highway, granted there rocks on the highway. So frustrated!
Told us the same thing. I’m not buying their answer. BS. A new car at that. Our 3rd Kia. No more.

I have a 2021 S Telluride. There is a visible drip under the dash on the passenger side. See pic. When I drive with the AC the drip starts, water collects and the floor carpet gets moderately wet. Thanks that I gave trek floor mats . It helps but this is obviously irregular. Anybody have this issue? Any idea what’s happening?

I want to start off by saying my wife and I really like this SUV. We waited and did our research before we bought the Telluride S model. Well, we have 400 miles on it and the AC started blowing hot air and gray smoke came out from under the engine and it smelled like Freon. Well its been at the KIA dealership all day and they got back to me saying there is a leak in the AC and have to wait for the KIA engineers to get back to them. It's new and we understood there might be some issues but this sucks. We only had it for 7 days. My question to you is: Have any of you had issues with the AC? Thank you in advance I will keep you up to date.
We bought a new Kia k5 2022. One month into driving it. Same issue. They say rocks pass through grill and punctured the condenser. They want $1400 to replace

We just bought a 2022 k5. Exact same issue one month after purchase. Same response from dealer. I have contacted the BBB auto line and Kia corporate customer service. Sounds like a design flaw or poorly manufactured part. Will let u know if we make progress in getting Kia to pay for the repair/replacement. Everyone i have spoken to says they should !

Hi Everyone,

I'm sorry I'm a little late to this party, but just a little information that may help in a few ways with this. The Telluride and K5 both have issues with grills that don't protect the AC condenser well enough. As do the Palisade, Sonata, and other new Hyundais and Kias, along with many others from different manufacturers. This a a combination of factors that involve material and design consideration. (Aerodynamic, weight reduction, ride height, and aesthetic design all play a part in this.) Condenser punctures and cost of repairs has been a running issue for a number of years. And no, it is not a warranty issue. Some manufacturers are more helpful than others when a customer complains. All except Chevy handle it on an individual basis. Kia generally will not help at all.

I make screens for the grills of many cars to keep rocks and debris from getting through the grill, thereby protecting against this problem. These are installed in front of or behind the grill, depending on the model. Installation is generally easy. The TellurudeScreens and K5Screens are among out best sellers. I'm happy to help and answer questions if anyone has them. The website for these is VoltShelf.weebly.com for pictures and more information.

Hey Steve,

I finally got my Kia Telluride (2023) and I think I'm finally going to purchase the guards. Do you have any pictures of a 23 with the guards on? All 4 piece?

Hey Steve,

Here are a few, Freakrule. Not sure I have one of all 4, but this assortment should give you the picture. Note that the upper piece is installed behind the grill, so you won't really see it unless you zoom in pretty good on a couple of shots. (Not every one has the upper piece in it.) The lower pieces are shown in front of the grill in some and behind in others, so you can compare them for what is best for you. Note that all of the pieces can be installed from in front of the grill in the 2023. You don't need to take anything apart. You can if you want to, but it is not necessary. And yes, I do think it is worth it to put them behind the grill if you can.

HTH!!

Steve

Had issues with the heat already. We love our Kia but I’m selling it when my lawyer says I can. I have info about a heating issue they have been hiding and am starting a class action lawsuit with my lawyer

The upper one behind the grill can also be installed without removing anything?

Yes. The slots in the grill are large enough to let you slip the piece in from the front and maneuver it up into place. You will want to hold the screen up to the front of the grill and locate where you want the plastic ties to go to hold it to the grill, then thread the through the mesh in advance. Once you insert the screen through the grill, you work it into position from the front, then fasten the plastic ties.

Here are a few demo pics to juice your thinking.

So how much for all the pieces for 2023 Kia Telluride? 4 pieces I think? And what options do you have? (Differences on style)

The 4 piece sets are $160-$180. That includes shipping within the Continental US. There are 3 different mesh choices, Black expanded metal mesh ($160) , black welded stainless steel mesh ($180), and black woven stainless steel mesh ($180.) These are pictured below in the same order. As noted earlier, The lower 3 pieces can be installed in front of or behind the grill. The upper piece is designed to be installed behind the grill. All of the pieces can be installed behind the grill from the front of the car without taking anything apart. Installation of the 3 lower pieces in front of the grill is very easy. Installation behind the grill takes a little fiddling with your fingers to position the pieces, but it is a nice stealthy look.

Here is a link to the website for the whole story. Kia Telluride

Hello Steve,

Long time no talk. Quick update:
The grill guards work great! Thank you again. I feel better knowing something is blocking those big holes! Lol. I have pictures but the site says they're too big. If I ever figure that out, I will post pictures.
