Anyone recently got Kia to replace windshield

I have a 2024 Kia telluride that is a week old. Started raining and all of a sudden a crack developed across my windshield. Its a Gray Wolf EX X Line

I've had 2 in the last 2 months. Never have I ever in my 24 years of driving ever gotten a cracked windshield on a vehicle. Yet now that I've had this 2024 for the last 3 months, it's happened twice? Yea there's something wrong with these windshields.

I have a 4day old 2024 telluride, while driving on an off ramp car in front shot up rock and chipped and then cracked my windshield. I called dealership and they first said not under warranty. But talking to manager I told them about the class action lawsuit and Kia letter that states they would fix the windshield out of goodwill gesture. They said they need to talk to Kia headquarters so I’ll c what they say Tomorrow.
I was just wondering if anyone got their newer tellurides fixed by Kia through this letter.
Thanks
Just here to note that I haven't had this issue myself. I know many have but even after having rocks hit the windshield on the highway, no problem.

Sorry to hear alko, Kia gave me the crap about how it’s not their problem that it cracked because of a rock. But I did make a claim so Kia knows that 2024 are having glass cracking. I’m going through insurance to fix it. Kia dealership gave me loaner til my car gets fixed.
I just had a small rock chip that developed in the course of a couple days into an 8” long crack. I’ve never had a windshield do this ever with a rock chip. I’ve had chips repaired months after the fact and gone on, but this crack looked like it was going to grow across the windscreen given a few more days. $500 deductible and a bill to my insurance for another $1800 and it’s fixed. Something is wrong with the glass in these cars.

I have a 2024 SX AWD that also had a tiny rock chip about 1" from driver side pillar about 6" above the dash and extended 4" from the pillar horizontally when I first noticed it. Never heard or saw anything hit the window. Within an hour it extended 12" and by the next day 18" then the next day 30". I agree something is wrong with the glass or mounting stressing so a tiny chip runs this fast and far.

It's been an issue with the Tellurides since the beginning that Kia is absolutely refusing to address. It's one of the big weak links to Telluride ownership. Owning a Telluride means owning a car with a Fragile windshield for however long the duration of ownership will be.

My experience is exactly the same as MLSandy, a tiny chip occurred mysteriously without any noticeable hit by a rock or anything. Then the crack extended like crazily long just within 2 days. It just happened to me this Tuesday afternoon, Houston,Texas.

I have a 2 week old telluride and was just in a store and came
Outside to find a huge circular glass crack that appears to be from the inside.

Yes... I have a 2024 and windshield has major crack at 3,500 mile. Thanks for sharing

I have 2024 EX and had a crack develop recently (had vehicle since July 2023). Dealer told me it is not covered. Fortunately I have full glass and it was covered by insurance.

I have the same problem, and the dealership refuses to fix it.

No problems with my Telluride windshield so far. On our Lexus I picked up a small rock chip Sunday morning on the way home from the airport and about a mile from home. I was planning to take it in for a rock chip repair on Monday. When I came out to the car a couple of hours later I had a 14" crack going out both sides from the rock chip. Like others have mentioned, I've never had them spread this fast. I wonder if it's the type of glass that they have to use with all of the electronics/sensors built into the windshield? It adds over $300 to the price of the windshield replacement to do all of the alignment recalibrations associated with all of these safety systems and even more if you have a heads up display or heating coils for the windshield wipers. First thing I did after getting the new windshield and allowing time for it to cure was to take it our on the freeway and test to ensure all of the safety features functioned as expected.

First of all, glass is a crystalline material and once an impact,it will.propagate like crystal structures do.If there's an ongoing problem with the glass, there is probably an impurity in the glass.Kia's glass vendor should be working on it.It is also acoustic glass - that is why you can barely hear the motor inside the car.Its possible there is another layer inside the glass that gives it its a acoustic properties.I would NOT get the oem glass as it appears there is still.a problem, unless the dealer will.comp the windshield.I don't know if the aftermarket windshield has the same acoustic properties as the oem glass. If someone used aftermarket (non oem) glass I would like to know if it also was acoustic glass and if they had any recurrence

I checked a little further on the acoustic glassin the Telluride windshield. There is a pvb clear layer that gives it the acoustic. Properties. The aftermarket should also have an acoustic windshield.Besides sound deadening, the windshield is tempered glass and will not shatter,is 99% uv resistant and is a good feature to have.

I've been leasing a Sorento for just over a month now, I have complimentary maint check tomorrow, and yesterday with car sitting in driveway it just cracked! I'm guessing from sun beating down and heat? I don't know what to do about it but I'm going to talk with them tomorrow. Good luck with your case. My experience with most auto makers is that they will deny, deny, deny though.

My Honda Odyssey went through three windshields in two years. That was when it was being driven on the highway a lot where rock chips are more frequent.

Can you post a copy of the Kia letter? My 2024 Tellutide just mysteriously developed a crack and Im just getting a Kia runaround.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I called Kia Customer Support and the lady started to give me an attitude. She opened a claim and told me to take it to the dealership to have them look at it, to tell me if it was a manufacturer defect or if it was a rock chip. I told her straight up that it was a rock and that my concern is that there's an open class action law suit regarding the windshield glass. When I called the dealer the service advisor was like "well what do they want us to do?" I told her that at this point I want a paper trail. I'm not hopeful Kia will do anything. Funny, I just found a chip in my side rear window. I don't think it's all the way through so maybe Safelite will be able to fix it.
Do you have a link for this site, in particular windshields? I'd like to see it for any trends, etc.
I have a 2024 that experienced a cracked windshield without any apparent cause. Kia giving me runaround pleading ignorance of the evident problem. The class action lawsuit covers only 2021 -23 in certain states, and kia 's earlier offer letter to repair only covers 2020-21. I may bring a suit for the 2024s
