In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Auto-Off

I don’t have a manual because my vehicle is still on order. But I like to still know if I can keep it disable every time!

Only if you disable it every time. It’ll go something like this: get in, start the car, seat belt on, disable auto start, put it in gear. The auto start will be off for the remainder of the trip.

Here are the reasons why the auto start may be temporarily overridden.

The ISG system is disabled when:
§ A seat belt is unfastened
§ The hood or a door is opened
§ Battery condition is poor
§ The front or rear defroster is turned on
§ Engine coolant temperature is low
§ The outside ambient temperature is too
low/high
§ Emission control devices activate
§ The vehicle is on a steep slope

Thank you! I never owner a car with this feature. A friend has it in his Audi and I find it to be a pain in the A.

You can find the manual online or I can send it to you. I usually read manuals of cars before I buy so that I understand what I am getting.

I use my auto start stop and the majority of the time it blinks green as it should, but there are some instances where it will blink red. There isn’t anything about it blinking red in the manual. Anybody had this happen?

I can’t believe how many people complain about this. I think about idling engines every time I’m in the pharmacy drive-thru or waiting for a train to pass. Even at long stop lights. I’ve driven several cars with start/stop and none of them are problematic. There was one that had a pretty bad delay, but i figured out a light let-up on the brake a couple seconds ahead of time alleviated that. Is it different? Of course! Frankly, I think it would be awesome to sit at a stoplight with windows down and there’s no noise or exhaust from the cars around me. And it helps your MPG. Is it different? Of course! just like being forced to wear seatbelts back in the 80s was different. Just give it a chance and help those of us around you. That’s pretty cool.

I think I'm getting used to the auto off feature, however, my pet peeve is auto-off shutting down engine as I'm badging in to my work, which cranks on almost immediately as I let off the gas to accelerate. Is there any way to delay the auto-off? I want auto-off to engage after 2-3 seconds of making a complete stop.

It will not engage if you only lightly press the break pedal. For the engine to turn off, you have to completely push it, like resting your foot on it.

I wish I could do a drive by badging, but unfortunately I have to make a complete stop. Kia giving us control over engine auto-off delay time would be ideal.

You can still do a complete stop by lightly applying pressure to the pedal.... Don't push it all the way down.

So I have my foot on brake pedal and I'm leaning out the window for badge scanner. My fine motor control of how deep I'm pressing the brake pedal is overruled by my instinct in making sure I'm completely stopped. ;)

:D

I guess your best solution is then to either disable auto-off just before reaching the badging area or stop (without too much pressure on the pedal) and put the car on park.

Does auto stop feature work if you have the auto hold function on?

Yes it does. And then it gets weird as the engine will restart when you push the accelerator instead of restarting when you release the brake.

I like auto stop, but not when auto hold is active.

I also have to reach out and scan my access card to get into work. I tried this about half an hour ago and can confirm my engine was still on when I stopped.

unclicking your seat belt (driver) would turn it off as well.

Sounds like you have better control then I. Perhaps soon I will also get the hang of it. hehe

I just got my Telluride and like everything about it so far BUT the auto engine shut off when stopped. I do consider it a major safety issue that KIA drop the ball on.
Why major safety issue? I was parking the Tellirude which we all need to do but I didn't pull in far enough. I looked to gauge how far i need to pull forward and when I let of the brake very so lightly touch the gas and the engine started and lurked forward. Scared the "well you know what out of me" I was able to quickly get back on the break before slamming the wall in front of me. I was just in the local parking garage. What a major safety issue. KIA needs to do a safety recall on this ASAP. Their auto engine stop feature is going to kill someone.

This is a common feature on most modern and luxury vehicles. You just have to get use to not getting on the accelerator immediately.... Or disable it using the option explained somewhere on this thread.

Turn it off. It is part of my routine when starting the car. I hit the start button then immediately hit the A button then the auto hold button.

What is the point of this feature? seems like a lot of technology involved for something that is completely unnecessary. I understand there may be a mild improvement in MPG. I could also see the idling issue. I'm not technology-savvy in the least bit but it would seem like the engine constantly starting and shutting off would decrease the life expectancy of a starter
