Bad Dealer Dealings - List Your Bad Dealer Experience

thats crazy with all the mark up you are finding in the states. In Canada I havent seen any dealers who have marked up the telly except for one (Kamloops) and the sales manager blatantly told me they don't do discounts and mark up the telly over MSRP. They are not getting my business thats for sure.

'Murica

Just walked out of Napoli Kia in Milford, CT after having a $1,000 deposit with them since May. They initially marked up the money factor on a lease by 100%. When I informed them of the base MF rate, they came back with the base rate and increased the MSRP. Disgusting behavior, they pulled every stereotypical move in the book. I feel like a need a shower after that experience.

According to client manager Destinie Smith Southwest Kia North Austin marking up 10k over MSRP SX Prestige Tellurides explaining that is the market price for the vehicle lol

lol 10k, that's a spicy meatball. I didn't even bother with them (I'm in San Antonio).

Just received an online price for a 2021 Telluride S, FWD, from a dealer in NC; they are asking $42,000.00. when I asked why the price was so high, all I got was...............
I'll wait until the 2021's hit the street in October, or just purchase the new 2021 Sorento.
Just curious, what dealer in NC?

Watch out for Paramount KIA of Hickory, NC. They are charging an absurd $10K over MSRP. If you live in NC their are multiple dealers who sell at MSRP, please do not give Paramount your business.
Wow, what trim level were they marking up 10k on? I admit, I purchased my EX-P from them for a 3K markup. They’ve definitely gotten more ballsy!! I gotta say though, every time I drive by their dealership (I currently live right around the corner from them), whatever Tellys they have on the lot, are gone within a week at the most, so people are buying them with that insane markup. I absolutely hate that I paid a 3K markup for mine, but had been waiting for a while and they finally got one in that was the exact one I was looking for, but for 10k, I’d have told them to keep it for sure.

In Southern California. Went to Kia Downtown Los Angeles for an LX FWD on the condition they would sell it at MSRP. Agreed verbally and setup a meet with the salesman, salesman wrote down the numbers and agreed to it too. Was ready to talk financing 1 hour in when they pulled the deal and demanded $2,000 more because the deal was not profitable to them.

For anyone pursuing an LX FWD in Southern California, the going rate (as of mid September 2020) appears to be $2,000 above MSRP before negotiation.

Like some others who have experienced Kia DTLA, this is an unethical dealer and I do recommend staying away. Generally, my Kia dealership experiences in Southern California have been disappointing, and I am leaning towards not buying a Kia given the state of the dealers. I think they might be used to a type of customer I am not, and sleazy sales tactics and trying to prove I don't know what I am talking about does not work for me.

These guys suck. I had a call last week with a sales person by the name of Sunny who fed me a bunch of salesman BS. I told him I had an SX on order at MSRP at Hilltop and he went on a diatribe on how that's not possible. I literally ended the call with a "GFY"

My search is over, and I want to give feedback on dealers I found that are gouging at ~10k over.

Gainesville, FL - Jenkins Kia
Ocala, FL - Jenkins Kia
Orlando, FL - City Kia (Greenway wasn't much better)

I'll list the dealer I found in the Good Experience forum.

Wish everyone the best in their search!

You can add Jim marsh Kia in Las Vegas to list with a markup of 5k over MSRP
I got mine from Findlay Kia in Las Vegas,no mark up. Tried to add $1000 in dealer be but I said nope and got it without.

My apologies if this is the wrong thread to post this in, and maybe its "old news". Thankfully I was able to test drive an SX yesterday from a different dealer - Parsons Kia in Winchester VA - and they are selling at MSRP!

The dealer below - Hagerstown Kia - has the usual over-the-top markups and won't even let you test drive the vehicle!

"PLEASE NOTE THAT DUE TO THE POPULARITY AND SCARCITY OF THE TELLURIDES WE WILL NOT BE OFFERING TEST DRIVES IN ORDER TO ENSURE THAT THE NEW OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE RECEIVE A FRESH SUV WITH AS FEW MILES AS POSSIBLE."

Copied from a listing on Hagerstown Kia website. Hagerstown MD. The audacity! Believe me when I say, this is small town USA. I guess because they're a few hours from DC/NOVA they have overblown egos.

Admittedly, from a buyers standpoint I can understand limiting the mileage. But still, it rankles.

I test drove a Sedona there several days ago, but I will NOT be back after reading this today.

Did you get an SX Prestige and if so did you order or find one they already had in their inventory? They told me they could order at MSRP but gave me a 1 month to 9 month window on delivery and that won't work for me

I ordered an Ebony Black SX prestige in Sept 2019 and received it Feb 14 2020. When I ordered I was told it could take up to 6 months to receive order.

Ok that makes sense as they offered me MSRP with order but unfortunately I don't have the luxury as of now to wait for up to 6 months as my lease ends in December

My "Bad Dealer Experience" -

Koons Kia of Woodbridge (Woodbridge, VA).......do not even consider them. TRUST ME. My July 2020 interactions were with Christian Punlay (Product Specialist), & Jay Madrigal (Sales Manager). It was bad. Resulted in me sending complaints to Kia Motors corporate, Better Business Bureau, & a Google review. Disgusting dealership.

Ourisman Chantilly Kia (Chantilly, VA) Chris Bell, General Sales Manager, quoted me approx $8,800 over MSRP to order a Telluride. What a jackass. Sick. Twisted. Greed.

Kia dealerships in Northern Virginia & surrounding areas of Maryland & Delaware, have addendums to their window stickers indicating “Market Adjustment” of $5,000+ for Tellurides on their lots. Sick. Twisted. Greed.

MANY dealerships out there have lost their minds. Slow & steady wins the race, right? Price fairly & keep churning out the sales vs a need for immediate gratification & blatant GREED that may have long term negative impact on the dealership. Guess it all depends on what the consumer remembers from the experience.

Dealers in the DMV are not good, I’ve called everyone around here, found one in PA at MSRP, very nice people and honest. Check my post in the good dealers thread. Good luck!
