If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Battery discharge warning

This will be my 2nd time with the telluride battery dying....I could have been stranded somewhere since I don't have a portable battery charger....where do you get one?
The issue is a bad cell on the battery. I had the old battery charged three time . Took my Kia in for service , found out that battery had a bad cell.

I have the same problem. My Telluride is just over a year old and it was fine for the first year. The discharge message started about a month ago , the dealer replaced the battery and the very next day, the message came back. I have to take it back to the dealer. My guess is that there is an electrical issue that will have to be solved by KIA and hopefully that will be soon.

Going to drop it off tonight for them to check to see which one. Last time this happened, the sent someone out to jump it off and just assumed the headlights were left on, but based on a timer these normally cut themselves off, so it's hard to believe it was just that. This time nothing was left on or plugged in.
The problem of "battery discharging due to external electronic devices" was solved by my dealer who had the car for a week. They had to replace a module that controls the radio which was drawing down the battery when the vehicle was turned off. They called it the repair "replacing the LDC unit, part number K95300 S9000. The dealer did mention that KIA was now aware of this situation.

My husband and I just purchased a 2021 telluride a few weeks ago and have had the battery discharge warning come up the last couple of days. It has a little worried. The car seems to start fine though. Should we take it to the dealer anyway?

Did the message specifically say “battery discharging due to external electronic devices”?

Because it normally gives a warning when you sit in your car with accessory mode on while the engine is off. (ie. listening to the radio)

Yes, the message said “battery discharging due to external electronic devices” when we turned the car on this morning. It also happened yesterday when we turned the car on.

Take it to the dealership because while it starts ok now it won’t once the battery wears down. In my previous post the dealer had to replace a module that controls the radio. I believe they called it the LDC module. They kept the car for a week and the fix seems to have worked as it has been a couple of months now and everything is fine.

See my response to jack griffin on 9/15/20. Take it to the dealer because it is only a matter of time before your battery will die!!

Yes I had the same issue , the battery had a bad cell. Dealership replaced it .

Actually the dealer had to replace a module that controls the radio. Replacing the battery in my case did not correct the problem.

I thought that warning only comes when the radio is running after the vehicle is turned off. I'm less than a year in with my telluride and now I'm having battery issues on cold days. I should not have to jump a new vehicle

What did you end up doing? I have a new 2021 with only 670miles and warning came on today. Not sure if its my hardwired dashcam (2 weeks old) being the culprit but so odd cause had literally driven 60 miles the day before.

Newbie here .......Hi !
In reading about this battery discharge problem, it seems to have been a much bigger problem a year or 2 ago. Is that correct? Has Kia addressed the issue and pretty much solved it, do you think? How many people carry a "quick jump" unit w/ them because of this pbm ?
Thanx for your thoughts ..........

I had it one time and haven’t seen it again; 21 S

I had the same exact problem. Kia tried to blame it on my alarm system but I'm now seeing that I'm not the only one having the same exact issue. Bad batteries in the vehicles

Omg I felt so embarrassed everyday that it's cold I have to jump my car. I will be definitely filing a report about this issue with Kia directly

On one of my earlier post dealing with the Battery Discharging Due to External Device, that issue was resolved after they replaced a module that controlled the radio. See my earlier post for the specifics. I also just had to have the starter replaced as the vehicle sporatically would not start. They had the vehicle for two weeks and found the problem once it wouldn't start for them!!

Wow Tom... thanks for the heads up I'm going to follow up to see if it's possibly the same with my Telluride
