Makes sense to me, as if it only happens during cold weather it means its somehow related to either thermal contraction or changes in material behaviour when frozen. By warming the engine, the block heater would address both those scenarios to some (but not all) extents.Plugging in the block heater cord at night helps...i think..it didnt make the noise this morning..
Mine was bad this morning. I hope that’s just air whistling because it sounds horrible.I have this same problem. Kia told me the intake is frozen and eventually opens as normal.
That fixed it for good? For me it was the idler pulley. They replaced the alternator and water pump too, but it ended up being the idler pulley.
It fixed it for a couple days, but I just started it this morning and the noise was still there, not as loud though. I wonder if KIA's idler pulley part if just bad. The noise was non existent after the idler pulley was replaced, but like I said a couple days later it is making the noise, just quieter. That fixed it for good?
