  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Dealer Markup

Went to see the sx prestige yesterday in Cerritos California... 14 grand markup. Cause they are “rare” he says

I saw online that Kia of Cerritos had a White on Black SXP like I ordered from somewhere else in stock, so I contacted their internet sales manager via text. After dodging my questions about what their best price is, he said that he could "work a great deal" for me but that I had to physically come in. LOL so much for being an internet sales manager! I told him that if he could beat MSRP less $1000, then I'd come in. He said that Kia of Cerritos is at "12000 plus" and that they just sold two. LOL I will definitely never be doing any sort of business with Kia of Cerritos!

When you physically come in is when the price goes up by $4G's! Love that it was from the internet Manager! I'd ask if he has any of those AOL cd's lying around?!

Hi guys, I was looking on google for the dealer mark up on the Tellurides and I found this forum, I work at a Kia dealership and we just got some allocations for next month, we even have one for this month. We are also giving our customers the opportunity to build their Tellurides by placing the order with us, that can take from 45 to 90 days. In neither of those cases we are charging over the sticker price. If you want more information feel free to contact me through DM and I'll give you more information. I'm not putting my contact and the dealer info because I want to know if the forum administrators are ok with this first.

Hope to hear from any of you guys soon.

I have no idea, I just wrote to one of the founding members to see if there's nothing against the forum policies. I'll let you know as soon as I get an answer from them.

I just saw your thread in the Dealer Inventory section with your contact info. Easy to put in signature too when you reply. Thanks for joining - hopefully you'll acquire some business!

All the dealers in the SF Bay Area and LA Area are charging anywhere between $2k - $6k mark up above the MSRP. I called a dealer in Houston, TX and they are not doing that. CA is the only state that it is charging extra for this car. I guess is the law of supply and demand.
No living in Texas, dealer that I test drove Telluride is doing it. They said its not negotiable and also saud I cant build to order a Telluride at this time.

Lowly state of Georgia $10K market adjustment. NH and TN $5k to $10K market adjustments. Feel that there are more dealers OVERCHARGING than not.

Dealer in southeast PA had the following markup above MSRP:
Protection package $2,000
Market adjustment $1,600
Window etching $400
Roadside safety kit $600

I asked if these items could be declined and the answer was a hard no, specifically on the Telluride. An interesting note, the explanation for the market adjustment was steel tariffs. The salesman said they have it on all their vehicles. I would want to verify that claim. They have a total of 8 Tellurides between their lot and their sister dealership. Low inventory, high demand.

We did a test drive but not quite ready to purchase yet. With some discussion on price it sounded like they might be willing to go lower, but how far I’m not sure yet.

When we are ready to buy going to try Costco auto and see if that cuts out the dealer extras. Out of principal I’m not satisfied being forced to pay for them.
