Battery discharge warning

For the second time in a month our SX prestige model would not crank giving a battery discharge warning on the center screen. of course if you can jump it off it isn't the battery dying if something else draining the battery. Anyone else had this issue?

Key-Off Power Drain ... how long ???

Every new vehicle with extra 'stuff' running ...has key-off power drain ( also called parasitic drain ). I am wondering if any members have left their vehicle for an extended period of time ?? And seen the impact. My wife's Lexus LS is good for 3 weeks ... then dead battery. I have learned...

I just installed the Full optioned remote start over the weekend on my wife's 2020 Telluride and it works great! I placed both the long range antenna and the cellular module in glovebox and have excellent range. It was very easy to install. I also installed a remote start long range kit form Accessorides for my 2020 Sorento and it was a breeze also and works great. I would definitely recommend!

As long as you don’t mess something up during install. It should be easily removable with no trace of installing if needed before service.

If Kia warranty tries to blame the remote starter for an unrelated issue that warranty should cover, you are protected by the Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act.

Curious if anyone that has installed these has noticed a loss of the ISG (Idle Stop & Go) functionality possibly due to parasitic drain? I installed the simple remote 3x lock option in Dec 2020 and ISG hasn't worked in some time. My wife typically drives the Telluride so I'm not sure when it stopped working. It did work this summer when I charged the battery after it had sat for some time and then ISG stopped working a day or two later. I thought maybe it was a battery issue since the battery was over 3 years old but I recently replaced the battery and still no ISG. I much prefer the remote starter over ISG any day but was wondering if anyone else experienced something similar. Thanks!

Been 2 yrs+/- with the aftermarket remote start - I found that ISG is very fussy about battery level, HVAC functions, outside temp, etc. But, battery level seems to be the biggest. Find ISG works best during long drives and in summer or after having battery on a tender when doing mostly short drives and in winter (i.e. battery well charged).

Yes, I also cannot get ISG to work reliably. I have the Takeover with Smartphone model, so I am sure the cellular antenna is always drawing power to connect to cell towers.

I bought the car in 2020 early in the pandemic so I we only drove the Telluride for about 1-2 hours a week. So I can’t be sure if it ISG ever really worked consistently.

If it truly was parasitic drain I would imagine my voltage reading would start dipping into the 11 volt range when parked unused at home for several days. But I always see it level off around 12.1 to 12.5 volts. When I used a battery charger it lasts at 13.1 volts only for an hour or two with the car off, then always dips back down.

One way to confirm if it is the starter hindering ISG would be to try unplugging the remote starter for a week or two with regular driving habits.

Thanks for the feedback. It has been colder since I had the battery replaced, but it's been driven enough daily (I would think) to keep the battery charged. I'll have to wait until it warms up again and see if it has just been temperature related.

Good suggestion, but it's not the time of year to be without the remote start! If it doesn't work once the weather gets warmer + the new battery, I'll give this a try in the spring.
