In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Front licence plate mounting options

It will be a while for me. Just found out mine isn't coming in until September. 😔

What did you order? As in color and packages ....and when? I wonder how your dealer "knew" when yours was coming? Surely it isn't being built over 5 months??? I know there are part supply issues for the different packages... from Napa Seats/ second row of the Prestige .... to even the Black rims. If I were told that, I would question how he knew this. From what I have heard... if it is the SX with Prestige... they have shut down a Sorento line to produce the Tellurides. And when you vehicle is to be built...they send the VIN number to you. Right now, you can't order a Telluride. They are focused on playing catch up... You may be surprised. My dealer said 8 to 12 weeks but I think it may be sooner than later...what better way to make your day than to tell you September and then it comes in JULY... Makes your Dealer look good...right?? Mine is one caught up in the parts/package issue. My Dealer had only 2 orders for vehicles like mine...mine and one other... SX/Prestige/AWD/Tow... Black on Black in Black. so far one month has passed.

LOL my problem is that my trade in is LOSING value as I wait... And I know some had hoped for theirs to be delivered before their present lease vehicle was going to expire. There is a lot of different boats that people are in during this time... even some dealers doing dirt by adding price above MSRP...heard some as much as $10K over. Dog eat dog I guess. In the end... there will be more T-Rides built than bought and the prices will have rebates or those jammed by greedy dealers will have bought their last KIA or car from them. Pain will be reversed. So...be patient.... and questioning.

Stopped back by my dealer and was told the tag mount was in with the spare. When they didn't find it, they ordered me one. Should be in this week.

The sly brackets are $80, I think I'll opt for zip ties for the year I'll need my front license plate. Starting 7/1/2020 no longer needed in Ohio.

Is there any place where the plate should not be mounted, to make sure it doesnt interfere with the smart cruise control

Just wondering how those of you who are forced to run with the front plates have them mounted ?

I take delivery on Monday (April 29 ) and was considering telling the dealer to wait until I have a no-drill plate mount ($$$) or figure the best place to drill ( ugh )

Please include pics if you have them and details

Thanks

I had the factory supplied front bracket installed by the dealer.....there are indicated spots on the front bumper facia as to where to drill and mount AND it is critical to do it exactly there so as not to interfere with the various sensors and emitters associated with the tech systems.

Well, directly below the factory indicated mounting location is the square shaped , black radar emitter ....ANY obtusion into that area will cause issues.

I actually just went and used long zip ties and tied is around the slots in the bumper and it works great using the mount that was supplied with the car. Quick and easy and didnt have to drill into the bumper.

I did the Sly brackets which work well but definitely not worth the money if you ask me. It does make it easy detailing though.

It's simpler just to ask your people at the dealership not to drill into your Telly. The Telly's front-end is so amazingly awesome that anything mounted on it just takes away from the perfect lines.

Maybe have a no-drill grill-mounted clamp or some duct tape and/or zip ties in the back storage well just in case law enforcement asks you to display the front plate? ;)

@JerseySXP have any pics of how it turned out? We bought our Telluride in PA but live in MD which requires it. I also wasn't provided any front mount so if I wanted to go the whole screw into car route I would need to purchase that anyways and am looking to avoid it if possible. Looking for other options and this seems like one of the better ones but most expensive. I'm assuming mounting right above where the screwed-in mount works best on the horizontal grille (with it hanging lower almost where the screw in mount would be)?

any one with the slybracket frame AND mesh grill inserts? Just trying to see if there is/was a way to have both? (with installing the mesh inserts on the outside like recommended, not wanting to take bumper off). Thanks

If you require the plate in your state, just go with what the factory has. It belongs, is cheap, and won't interfere with anything else. I've owned my share of used German cars, sometimes from other states and they generally all do it the same way, large coarse screws that go into the plastic bumper. I am sure you can get it from the dealer and do it yourself. If you were buying the car and than shipping it to a state that doesn't need it, a no drill plate would be nice for the next owner.

I didnt think I had the front plate mount either but they had it in the trunk. I screwed them in and it was an easy install. Still waiting for my plates to come in.

Maybe they forgot to throw mine in. I had a small bag of screws in the glove box but I checked the trunk and even where the jack is but no luck
