Good Dealer Dealings - List Your Good Dealer Experience

i still dont understand how the order in line thing even works - because clearly Kia churns out different models at different rates - so if I have an S level with less demand nationally do I have to wait through all my dealership's SX orders before mine gets filled even if nationally there is more S availability?

Doesn’t appear to be the case. Depends on dealership allocation. They get so many of S FWD, S AWD, EX FWD/AWD, etc. So if your dealer gets 3 S AWD allocations for a month and there’s 3 orders, those will get filled. If your is one of those then it will be filled before the SX if they only get 2 of those allocated for the month, even if the SX were “in line” before you.

I’ve seen several examples of S and EX orders being filled before SX.

Long-time lurker, first time poster. Having zero luck with Phoenix dealers who all wanted $7k over MSRP plus dealer add-ons, based on the positive experiences detailed in this forum, I reached out to Fowler Kia (fka I25 Kia) in Longmont, CO. I used the online order form to build a Telluride, and the next morning I received an email from Dumitru Pop, who walked me through the process of ordering at MSRP plus a $699 dealer fee. He quoted 6-8 months order time for an EX FWD with tow package. My wife and I will fly in and drive it back when it arrives.

Dumitru made it so easy. He's such a laid-back, pleasant guy to deal with. While on the phone with him, I asked if Fowler Kia was also selling the EV6 at MSRP as our 2013 Nissan Leaf is getting a little long in the tooth. Indeed they are, and wouldn't you know that they had the exact combination of EV6 on order that I was looking for? So I put my name on the EV6, which is due to arrive early March. Dumitru made two sales in one day!

If you're anywhere close to Denver, don't look anywhere else than Fowler Kia, and Dumitru is your guy. Here's his contact info (I'm sure it's been posted before):

Gave up couple weeks ago trying to work with Phoenix dealers and been thinking of getting alternate SUV altogether. I’ve been reading up here on CO dealers with refundable deposit. I see positive experiences here with Fowler Kia and Peak Kia North - down to those 2.

Safford Kia Salisbury Md. Taylor good experience. so far. 2022 Telluride

I'm curious how you found out your place in the order line. I asked our Sales Rep out of Fowler and he said he doesn't have that information as they dont necessarily take people in order when they're picked up by Kia. Makes no sense why others can get that info, but some cant lol.
I think they were giving people list info based on trim levels and drivetrain. For example, I knew where I was in line on the SX AWD list, but now that Kia is not picking the cars up in order, they may be more reluctant to give out that information?? I was told I was No. 1 on the SX AWD list in early January, but have had at least a half dozen orders jump me in line over the past couple months. I think it is Kia not picking them up in order, so essentially the list doesn't really matter???

Maybe someone has better info, but that is just what I was told.

Congratulations. Did you already receive your Telluride or when are you expecting it to arrive?
Ordered in early February and was told 4-6 months. No vin or estimated date yet.

Hey do you have anymore details about the experience? I live in the area, are they selling at MSRP? Estimated wait time? Orders ahead?

I had a great buying experience with Halleen Kia of Sandusky, salesperson was Nathaneal Boggs. Highly recommend them!

Great experience with Lev in Framingham. I thought the day might never come but we took delivery today.

Ordered 9/21/21
Arrived at dealer 3/1/22
Delivered 3/4/22

S AWD Dark Moss/Gray interior

Highly recommend Lev. True to their word. MSRP to the dollar. Zero surprises. It was definitely hard to stay optimistic as the months went by with no updates. I reached out about once a month for updates and they had none. Asked about my order getting picked up by KFOS etc. Even when I saw my EXACT build on failcat in Feb. I was told they had no updates so assumed it wasn’t mine. Turns out it was. The first and only update I received was on 3/1/22 that my car had just come off the truck at the dealership and scheduled delivery for 3/4. I was shocked.

Finance manger emailed me the purchase and sale with the out the door numbers broken down. Showed up with a cashiers check for the balance minus the deposit. 5 minute transaction. Couldn’t have been easier.

It was worth the wait. Hang in there everyone.

Wanted to give a shout out to Kia of Muncie. I’ve had an order in with Lucas and couldn’t be more pleased. Definitely recommend him!

Capitol Kia, San Jose, CA.

I had a great experience with brothers Brandon Medina (sales rep turned finance manager) and Jordanny Medina (new sales rep). It helped that I knew exactly what I was looking for when I called around to 20+ dealerships in NorCal.

Capitol Kia were willing to negotiate on the MSRP mark up, in order to match other dealers in the area. They took a $1k refundable deposit from me and kept me posted when the vehicle I wanted would be available. My deposit was placed on a specific vehicle that was incoming and they honored that. I waited approx. 1 month for the vehicle to arrive.

As for closing the deal, yes, they tried to upsell warranty, prepaid maintenance and other items, but they were not pushy. They respected my position and, in turn, I was straightforward with them about my research.

Capitol Kia is a part of the DGDG group and presents themselves as a "volume dealer" so they seem to have more inventory and more room to negotiate.

Feel free to PM me if you want more info.

P.S. I bought an extended warranty (10yr/100k) with Muncie Kia. Capitol Kia were willing to match the price, but I preferred the plan terms offered by Muncie.

What was the markup you were able to get?

i assume you at least did not have to wait on the car?

I have heard Muncie in IN will sell below MSRP by honoring Costco pricing. I have heard Fowler and Arapahoe in CO (although I have not gotten any sales rep referrals) will sell at MSRP. I do not know if they will match Costco pricing.

Does anyone know if closer to me in CA dealerships in Arizona or Nevada or Utah will sell at MSRP/match Costco pricing?

My deposit locked in a vehicle that was incoming and listed on the Kia.com inventory page, so I knew exactly what vehicle I was paying for and had a copy of the window sticker in advance. I waited a couple of weeks for it to arrive.

Not Az dealers, they have crazy mark ups.
