Good Dealer Dealings - List Your Good Dealer Experience

Picked up my Telluride yesterday from Ricart Kia in Columbus, OH. Was a great experience! Paid MSRP, was in and out in about an hour.

I called on March 2nd to see if they had any incoming units available, they had one I wanted so they put my name on it. The ETA was 3/18, but it arrived 3/14. They do not deliver so I had to fly, but it was well worth the trip to get my vehicle in 2 weeks!

What were their fees?

Great experience with Lev in Framingham. I thought the day might never come but we took delivery today.

Ordered 9/21/21
Arrived at dealer 3/1/22
Delivered 3/4/22

S AWD Dark Moss/Gray interior

Highly recommend Lev. True to their word. MSRP to the dollar. Zero surprises. It was definitely hard to stay optimistic as the months went by with no updates. I reached out about once a month for updates and they had none. Asked about my order getting picked up by KFOS etc. Even when I saw my EXACT build on failcat in Feb. I was told they had no updates so assumed it wasn’t mine. Turns out it was. The first and only update I received was on 3/1/22 that my car had just come off the truck at the dealership and scheduled delivery for 3/4. I was shocked.

Finance manger emailed me the purchase and sale with the out the door numbers broken down. Showed up with a cashiers check for the balance minus the deposit. 5 minute transaction. Couldn’t have been easier.

It was worth the wait. Hang in there everyone.

Posted this on the "Current Waitlisters of Classic Kia (Waukegan, IL)" but had to post here as well. John Plewka at Classic Kia is the absolute best.

Picked up my Telly yesterday (April 2) and could not begin to tell you what an awesome car buying experience it was with John Plewka from start to finish. I cannot speak highly enough about John and Classic. He was transparent from the beginning and always kept in communication with me. Trust me, there was a time when my order was cancelled and I was tempted to place a new order with one of the larger dealers, but after meeting John in person my gut just told me to stick with him and I'm so glad I did. Was in and out in less than 90 minutes and I'm just in awe of my Telluride. I highly recommend John Plewka, just a nice, honest straight forward guy.

I found John's name from this forum so THANK YOU to everyone that recommended him and thank you to those running this forum. This forum and all the information in it has helped me tremendously. And of course, thank you @StephenCantrelle for always tracking our VINs.

Good to know. I’ve been communicating with Courtesy Kia about ordering. They charge over MSRP if you live more than 80 miles away. I also talked to Rock River and they are def. not charging MSRP anymore.

Abeloff in PA was fantastic to deal with. Picked mine up yesterday. Ordered in Aug. MSRP. They are no longer accepting orders on 2022s as they won’t be able to fulfill anymore orders.

The problem with that dealership and that family of dealerships was never MSRP.. it was them lowballing 10K in trade-ins.

Are you local to them?

It’s not so great here on the East Coast either. There are only 2-3 dealers here in all of NJ selling at MSRP and I can’t recall anyone stating they were able to find a dealer selling at MSRP in NYC or on Long Island. Some dealers that were formerly selling at MSRP have recently instituted mark-ups.

And yes, people are paying over MSRP. Check out the Facebook groups. Not the way I would roll (I would’ve been fine in a Palisade or keeping my 2013 Accord another year or two if I didn’t get my Telluride for MSRP), but to each his or her own.

Hi I appreciate very much your post.
I am in NJ. Could you please let me know the NJ dealers that sell at MSRP.
Where and how do you find this information short of calling 100 dealers?

Thank you very much

You have to follow the forum here and the Facebook groups (in that order). I’ve been here almost since the beginning (member 108, LOL), and I check this forum daily for info and tips.

There is only one dealer in NJ selling at MSRP, and that’s Nutley Kia. However, they only sell to Essex, Hudson, Union, Bergen, Passaic, Morris, Somerset, and Middlesex Counties. If you’re outside of that area, you can check with Abeloff Kia in PA. Either way prepare for a wait of several months. Good Luck…

I discovered this thread just today. I have read pages 60 to 90 but I am afraid I may have missed some NJ dealers info. I am grateful for this forum but I did not find a tool to search this forum by state, so it's like trying to find 'needle in haystack'.

Thanks much again.
Now I will keep an eye.

I placed an order with Nutley a month ago. They require a 10% refundable deposit. I was quoted 6-8 month delivery.

Hey Monish
Thank you very much for sharing valuable information about Nutley. That is great! I'll order mine from them too. I have a few questions if you can please help.
Was the order at MSRP?
In 6-8 mos, it will be 2023 model year. Did they say anything about that, change in MSRP/price?
Any particular sales person?

I'm going for a test drive today in Denville.
Thanks Again.

Just wanted to share a great experience buying my new Telluride.

Purchased at Arapahoe Kia in Centennial Colorado. Worked with the sales manager Joel, and he is top-notch. 100% business, honest, and to the point.

I ordered with a 500$ deposit mid-March, and Joel told me the ETA was late May... and this was for an LX that they already had on the way, so I got lucky there that I was not looking for a top-of-the-line model. It did make me a little nervous that the deposit was non-refundable, but in the end it was fine.

Got a call this Monday that the car was in, and ready to pick-up--so quite a few weeks earlier than expected! Even earlier than @StephenCantrelle quoted! Joel got my financing approved even though it was very late in the day, and I picked it up yesterday.

I was in and out of the dealer in about 90 minutes, after the requisite test-drive, 300 signatures, and declining the extended warranties. All in all it was a great experience! Paid MSRP, no games. Additionally, the first oil change is free.

I would highly recommend Arapahoe Kia, and Joel in specific--they are professionals who move product and take care of people.

If it helps, my salesman was Chris Martino.

Denville is definitely over MSRP, but I’m not sure how much right now. You should have some fun with them, and after the test drive tell them to sell at MSRP or it’s off to Nutley (which it will be anyway)…

I went to Denville because it is close to my house and had to try out fit in my garage. Its tight but OK. Denville will not take order and charges 4K over MSRP of whatever they have in stock loaded with options. The salesman was great, knowledgeable and courteous. Would love to give him the business but the Mgr will not budge on no order and +4K .

Will go to Nutley and contact Chris Martino. Thanks for all information you provided.
I'm still curious about how the Order at current MSRP works if what they deliver in 6 mos is 2023 model. I would rather get 2023.

You will have to pay the increased MSRP. Kia’s kept each price increase to a few hundred so far (but two per model year), although this one may be a bit more due to the refresh.

Thanks. I can live with that.

You have been great answering my questions but I do not want to keep bugging you if I can search for it. OK, I found how to search the threads.

I was wondering if its ordering ordering 1) mud guards 2) floor mats 3) cargo net etc 4) anything else from dealer vs aftermarket.

I had a very good experience with Ladd-Hanford Kia in Lebanon PA, which is my local dealership. I was able to get the car at MSRP for a Telluride that they had coming in that wasn't yet claimed, so I had only a 1 month wait for Dark Moss SX-P. The car did have some extras that I didn't need (cargo cover etc), but I don't take issue with it given that's how the car was ordered and I had little waiting time. I believe that the dealership is now charging a 2k markup on these generally, but that's lower than most. I believe that they are also low volume for Tellurides. They offer an extended, comprehensive warranty through Zurich (not Fidelity) but the pricing is aligned with Muncie's price for Fidelity's platinum coverage (1599 for 10 year/ 100k comprehensive with 0 deductible). I did elect to purchase it given the reasonable price and the fact that they didn't charge me a markup on the car, but they were not pushy about it. My salesman was Marc Roman.
