Good Dealer Dealings - List Your Good Dealer Experience

@Kao , there is a multi-quote option that allows you to quote multiple (hence the name) postings and respond to all in one message. Since I'm watching this thread, my inbox is getting blown up! Slow down, brother.

The wheel and tire package is a protection plan / warranty. Reach out to @Jason Fox for specifics
Duuude, while I appreciate your reply to my question, I'm not aware there is a limit to posting on this forum. If I choose to spend my hour lunch break from work, reading and replying to posts, it's none of your concern. If you don't want notification that ”BLOW UP" your email, turn off your notifications. Don't even begin to think about censoring people on here. And what makes you assume I am a "brother?" Tolerance Brother...

You’re reply is cute.
I was just suggesting that you could use the multi-quote option.
Brother, sister, who cares... We’re all here on the forum for the same thing.

In January, I placed an order for a Sangria/Gray, EX-FWD-P with a somewhat small dealer here in the St. Louis area. In April, the salesman called and said that my order had been cancelled; I asked when I could replace the order, and he said that he didn't know, but he would let me know later. Some folks on these forums suggested I contact a different dealer, which I did. Jim Butler Kia in Chesterfield took my order on April 13, and estimated a late August - early September delivery date. Well, the VIN showed up on failcat last Friday (July 31), and the salesman gave me an ETA of August 18, which was good news compared with "late August" date. Amazingly, he called me yesterday morning (August 7) with the surprising news that my T-ride was on their lot, and would be available for pickup in the afternoon. I went out at 2:30pm, did some negotiating and drove out around 5:15pm with my new vehicle. They quoted straight MSRP with no add-ons or other BS, and gave me a fair trade-in allowance for my 2013 Sorento.
While I've only had it somewhat less than 24 hours, I love driving this beautiful vehicle and learning about all the bells and whistles.
I have to say that I would very much recommend Jim Butler KIA to anyone looking for a Telluride in the St. Louis area.

@cvlwrnut , this is outstanding to hear! Glad you had a great experience. 4 month wait isn’t too bad.

Anyone have a good experience anywhere near the Jackson, MS area? Looking for a dealer around the MS area that'll sell at MSRP. I'm currently dealing with Wilson KIA and not having a good experience. I've called around to a few in central and southern MS, and also a few in AL. Running into a lot of b.s. when asking about the ordering process from the ones I called. If it's not a flat markup, it's some kind of unwanted dealer add on that's mentioned.

Today I ordered an SXP through Lev Kia of Framingham, MA. It was easy; called Ken Russian and put down $500 on my card. The whole thing took under five minutes since I knew exactly what I wanted on the car. Ken is a straight shooter, very businesslike and unlike many car salespeople, applies zero pressure. He also happens to be from my hometown. The price is straight MSRP minus any available incentives or rebates from Kia at the time of delivery. The only not so great part is the 22 week delivery window, but on the other hand that gives me six months to comfortably plan for the purchase. I guess I’ll be back in January!
Ah so it's up to 22 weeks now. I ordered the first week in July and it was 20 weeks. I got a courtesy call from them a couple weeks ago and i got excited, but it was to let me know a similar car would be coming in earlier but it was NE with towing, neither of which I wanted. Hopefully I'm on track for December still and not pushing out into 2021.

What trim did you order?

Thanks to this forum, we had a great car buying experience and took delivery on Saturday (SX AWD w/ Nightfall & Tow, Dark Moss/Butterscotch for those keeping score).

We worked Halleen Kia of Sandusky, sales person was Zach.

Someone on the forum mentioned finding Halleen of North Olmstead as a non-markup dealer, so when I found a Nightfall with Tow coming into another dealership called Halleen, I guessed (correctly) they also would not markup and reached out to them.

Failcat helped me find the vehicle spec'd the way I wanted heading to a dealer that wasn't marking up. This was right when the 21s started showing up on Failcat and we figured out the Nightfalls were unallocated.

Zach was great to work with and the experience was really smooth. We flew into Cleveland and were picked up by our sales guy who drove us back to the dealership.

The sales process took longer than I wanted, we were at the dealership for 3 hours, but there were no hiccups or bait and switches. The only upsell happened with the finance guy who tried to push the extended warranty on us. I didn't care for that part and we hadn't educated ourselves well enough prior so we almost caved.

Their doc fees were super reasonable too, only $250. The only issue we had really was related to our out of state purchase. OH & VA don't have reciprocity (apparently) so it's on us to make the requisite taxes at our DMV.

Overall they were a great dealership to work with and I highly recommend them.

Also for those who track these things: our vehicle showed up in Failcat on 7/7. It had and ETA of 8/4, which then slipped to 8/7, but actually arrived 8/5.

How did you go about that initial conversation with the dealer? I imagine it wasn’t: “I happen to know you have the exact Telly I want coming to your particular store”, correct? Or are you half playing dumb and asking if they have any unclaimed Telly’s coming in, knowing that they have what you want and are hoping it’s unclaimed?

Wanted to throw in another plug for I-25 Kia in Longmont, CO. When I first started doing my research using this forum and the VIN Lookup tool, I-25 Kia was one of the top 5 dealerships in terms of number of Tellurides allocated and offered at MSRP, so I figured it offered me the best chance of getting a Telluride in a reasonable amount of time.

I ordered a Dark Moss/Dune Brown SX-P at MSRP with a refundable $500 deposit back on March 2, 2020. Was initially given an ETA of 5/31/20, but COVID/plant shutdown changed it a couple of times before finally settling on August 9, 2020. I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived early on July 27, 2020. I worked with Dumitru Pop, who has been awesome throughout the entire process, giving me frequent updates. I was initially skeptical of purchasing out of state since I’ve never done that before, but Dumitru and I-25 Kia made the process a breeze.

Can’t recommend I-25 Kia enough. And ask for Dumitru!

That reassuring to hear, have ordered with Amanda but still in the beginning wait stage. Nice to know they are equally awesome throughout the entire process. Congrats on the ride! How do you like the dune brown? Getting that with Everlasting Silver.

Also, can you tell me more about the out of state process with them, since I'm doing the same. Did they collect the taxes for your state? Did you get to pick the shipping company and/or how much did it run you? Amanda mentioned they would send the paperwork and then i would just mail it back and then get it shipped.

We had a very good experience at Ricart Kia in Columbus, OH. No attempt to mark up over MSRP. Fair price on our trade. Bought a 2021-S.

I started by saying what I was interested in and that I was looking for a dealer that did not mark up over MSRP. Then I said, "in particular, I'm interested in this VIN: xxx". He said, "that is available, we didn't even know it was in our system, how did you know?" And I said something like, "I can't really reveal my source but I have a friend who can see new VINs created at Kia". He didn't press any further.

That’s incredible, and super helpful. Thank you!!

The dune brown looks even better in person. My wife agrees too. We looked at plenty of photos of the dune brown leather seats but never saw one in person prior to buying. It looks darker than what I've seen in photos.

Re: out of state process. Yes, they collected the taxes for my state. I included it in the loan, but regret doing that since I'm paying interest for something that adds nothing to my equity. And you do get to select your shipping company, which ran me $1200 to ship to CA. Regarding the paperwork, the dealership sent it to me overnight, I signed everything I needed to, and then got one of the forms notarized. I mailed everything back to them using a pre-paid overnight envelope they included.

Thank you for the detailed response, I feel way better about the process. I know there are a few others on this forum in the same boat with this dealership. Enjoy your new vehicle!

I ordered mine from Ken on 7/25 EX-P AWD Sangria/Black and was given a 20-22 week lead time.

I followed up yesterday to see if anything changed and he said indications are that 20 weeks is still the estimate (T-minus 15 weeks now). There have been a good number of EX AWDs (NE and non-NE) coming through Failcat in the last month so hopefully we stay on track.
