Hand caught between drivers seat and center console

I've used these on previous cars and had very good success. Haven't tried on the Telluride yet.

I used Drop Stop in my last car and was happy with them. I just placed a new order for a set and will give an update here with pictures after it arrives. I believe it should work well.

This is something I've seen on TV and have been thinking about. Not only prevents droping stuff in the seat gap, but doubles as a place to store items. My seats are Butterscotch and the Tan set of these looks very close. (Used Tinyurl.com to make very large Amazon URL a little smaller.)

Putting your hand between the seat and console while driving in any vehicle is dangerous to you and anyone around you. If it’s that important; pull over and retrieve it. Sitting on the seat closes the distance between the seat and center console; you jam your hand/arm down there and get stuck.

The fact that this has happened to others here, and I’m sure has happened to many more who didn’t post on this forum, speaks volumes. I’ve owned many cars in my life and this has never happened. Someone posted the seat had to be removed to free their arm. Another said they had to call the fire department to get free and they were cut so badly there was blood soaked into the carpet. The fact that the potential for serious bodily injury is so high should sound an alarm to Kia. Babies don’t get their heads caught between crib rails anymore because the problem was addressed. Blaming driver negligence does not solve anything. This is a situation that should be addressed.

I agree with you - it is a potential hazard that Kia should (if they're smart) address.

Agreed as well. I love my Telluride but I’ve had some close calls and this is an issue which Kia should address.

I ordered a pair of black version of those. The problem with those is that they always end up falling down into the gap. There's nothing that keeps it afloat, only resistance.

This is what my arm looked like when, with the help of the police, I was able to free it. Had you only been there to offer your expertise (“take you weight off the seat/you shouldn’t have stuck your hand down there”) none of this would have happened!

And the fire department wouldn’t have needed to come help that other moronic driver. And they wouldn’t have had to remove the seat from that other idiot trying to retrieve their cell phone.

Your solution, which seems to be, don’t be stupid and put your hand down there, is sheer genius. Even your assumption that I was driving, though incorrect, because I was parked, was again brilliant. I would never have thought sticking my hand between the seat while driving could be dangerous!

I can’t even agree to disagree with you because nothing you said actually pertains to anything really relevant to this situation. Here’s a thought. Park your Telluride and stick you hand between the seat and console. Then show us all that neat trick where you lift your butt off the seat and slide your arm out.

It appears there are several people who agree that this should be addressed before someone gets seriously injured, or worse. Because if that happens I don’t think saying, “Well, he\she shouldn’t have stuck there arm there.” will really be sufficient.

I plan on contacting Kia, because I don’t want to see anyone hurt because of this.

I think this is what I bought at The Container Store and put in a week ago. Black on black, you would never know they were there. It’s a snug fit, I’ll be surprised if they fall off. Time will tell. I think they were $19.99.

I think this thread speaks for itself. I'm using a gap filler like this one. I bought really cheap one around $5-6 on ebay, but I can no longer find them. I only see overpriced $29 as seen on TV stuff.

When I’ve dropped something between the seats, it’s been when parked and collecting my things to leave the car. My phone in the cup holder giving me directions.

Something to keep an eye on for sure. But in any car I have dropped things, I found it easiest to just open the rear door and retrieve whatever I have dropped by going under the rear of the seat. Trying to get keys, phones, pens or whatever else by sticking my hand down between the seat and console never worked out too well.

Interesting situation yesterday. My phone slid down between the console and the drivers seat yesterday. Went to grab the phone (was very tight) while driving but could not get my hand back (even without the phone). Seems my hand got stuck on something under the seat lining. Unable to move it forward or backward had to literally pull my hand out with force which left my wrist scratched and bloody. Fair warning. If you drop something don't do what I did and instead stop, get off the seat and reach under the front of back of the seat to get the item.

The same thing happened to me two days ago. I was not driving. I had actually stop at a drive thru for much and was eating. I dropped a napkin between the seat and console. I was caught and actually had to drive to a police station for help. My arm also came out scratched and blood. Several other people here have said the same thing happened to them. This clearly is an issue Kia needs to address before someone gets seriously injured. Glad you’re okay.

Drop Stop arrived and installed. I'm not sure the pictures show it, but I don't even know if you would realize they were not part of the car with a black interior.
