However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Hi Y'all!!

Greetings from Raleigh, NC! Anybody else in the triangle area? Ordered our Telluride at MSRP from Hendrick KIA 10/2/2021 after unsuccessfully attempting to hustle a telluride at MSRP for about a month. How naive I was back then - IF ONLY I had found the forum last fall, I could have probably saved myself a lot of time and disappointment :) After initially being told 4-6 months for delivery, it now appears to be much later. As of last Thursday, still #21 in the dealer order queue, and they had just picked up a load that morning as I was #49 the day before. I came here to commiserate and wait it out amongst friends.

Thanks!
Sarah

I am in the Raleigh area too and ordered from Hendrick. I ordered on 12/30/21 and was given a timeframe of 6 months. I haven't checked in with them at all, but hearing that they told you it was going to take longer isn't good news for me since I ordered well after you.

I ordered Black/Gray Napa SXP Nightfall and they seem to be pretty rare from what I have seen in Failcat.

Hope your wait isn't as long as they anticipate!

It will be a long torturous adventure with sleepless nights and your Failcat addiction will take over your life ;)

Hey neighbor!

The wait is the worst! I’ve been texting my sales person weekly once I hit four months. 🤣 He’s tolerated me quite well, admittedly. He’s now saying probably summer for us - the 18 orders that were picked up last week are estimating April/May delivery, he said. 6-9months eta for all orders being placed now. I’m still holding out hope for us!

Your config sounds amazing! It will definitely be worth the wait.

I feel SEEN 🤣

Thanks so much for the warm welcome! Glad to be here! The Telluride will be replacing my beloved CX-5 - I got married last year so we need a bigger family ride for the two bonus kiddos, all their baseball gear, and the pup :)

Fellow Raleigh-n’s! Where did y’all order from? We actually ordered a Carnival but I’m over here snooping for my husband….

Welcome. I live in Greenville, NC, 1.5 hours east of you. I was tortured by my wait. Ordered in December 2019, right when Covid hit, and got my car almost 11 months later. Picked it up on Halloween day, 2020. I tried ordering from every dealership from Wilmington to Winston-Salem back then. Everyone was tacking on $7k - $10k markups. My own dealer in Greenville told me "they weren't allowed to special order a car." Just an outright lie. So I ordered from Lucas in Muncie, Indiana. BEST decision ever. They sold me my car, exactly as I ordered it, with Costco pricing. So I paid well UNDER MSRP. No tricks or shenanigans when I flew out to Indiana to pick it up. Flying to Indiana and driving it home, I still spent under MSRP!! And nothing more satisfying then pulling into my local dealer for oil changes and service with the Kia of Muncie license plate holder on the car to remind them of the lost sale. Soon spent my 11 months reading the forum and learning all about my car. It helps pass the time. And yes, you will become obsessed with Fail at especially as it gets closer to your build date. But, in the end, it will be worth every minute you waited. 16 months later and I still love getting in my vehicle every single time. It's the best car I've ever owned. I come to Raleigh about once a month from Tarboro, where I work, to go to Costco. I see more and more Telluride's everytime I'm there. Summer will be here before you know it!!

Have you had any updates on your order? Was curious if you got picked up in March.

I bugged my sales guy this week and he told me he thinks I am still 4 months out from production. Not sure exactly what he means by that, but I guess I won't see delivery before August and originally thought it would be a June delivery. I also asked if I would get pushed to a 2023 and he said most likely that will happen.

Nope. I’ve been texting weekly. As of last Friday this was the latest: “We got a pretty weak KFos this month. Your are still at number 21. There may be a manual allocation later in the month though.” Failcat keeps posting VINs under his dealer number - already a bunch in for March but nothing that matches my config!

Oh man, I hope next month is your month. What a crazy waiting game.

Fellow Raleigh-n’s! Where did y’all order from? We actually ordered a Carnival but I’m over here snooping for my husband….

I started shopping for a Sedona in Feb 2019 just as Tellurides started appearing. Picked an S from allocation in March 2019 from Hendrick in Cary. 52k miles later still very happy.

placed our order for an SX AWD through Hendrick of Cary on 11/17/21; just texted with our sales guy today and he told me that we are #112 in their order queue (of over 450 Telluride orders). If I go off Failcat, Hendrick has been averaging ~30 Tellurides a month, which would put us about 3-4 months away i.e., June/July 2022. However, our sales guy said they only average 10-15 Tellurides per month, which would put us at a whopping 7 months away, i.e. October or November - basically a full year of waiting.

pretty bummed :(

I've only been gathering data since February when I first found the forum and failcat, but in my experience it hasn't been a perfect 1:1 ratio for my order placement and seeing the inventory coming through the same dealership on failcat. I'm not sure how the vehicles are selected for KFOS, but it doesn't appear to by order number - maybe something like trim, color, features....not sure exactly. I hate to be the bearer of disappointing news, but I would mentally prepare for longer than 3-4 months and hope for a under promise-overdeliver situation :) Once its picked up, the dealer is saying about 2 months for delivery. I ordered 10/2/21 and still was #15 out as of last week. The Feb KFOS I went from 49 to 21. In March 21 to 15 and it wasn't through KFOS it was a manual allocation they got. Feeling hopeful about April to have in hands for June! Hang in there, I 100% know your pain!

I agree it definitely has a lot to do with trim, drivetrain, etc. From what I can tell it takes much longer to get an SX than an S.

I may look at the Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe when they come out. I might be on the year long wait train with my order at this point. I had hoped the volume would pickup for Hendrick, but it doesn’t appear it will.

One thing I don’t understand about this process is that the number in line doesn’t appear to be like a number in a deli line system. For example, if you are #20 in line at a dealer but there are 5 people in front of you that want the same trim and color/interior combo that isn’t the most popular to make are you really #20? Since Kia only makes so many of each trim and color per month are they going to keep sending the same dealer allocations to fill orders that are identical? Compare that to being #30 in line for a more common color that Kia makes and there only being 1-2 in front of you wanting the same combo. Won’t the person who is #30 have a higher chance of getting picked up before the #20? It’s like going to the deli and everyone in front of you wants turkey and you are hoping there is enough left before the deli person has to go in the back or they tell you they are out for the week. Or like going to buy toilet paper during a pandemic and only wanting to buy 3 ply. Is there something else I’m not seeing? I know we are in a supply and demand curve at a macro economic level but unless Kia took custom orders even without pandemic production shortages and microchip supply chain issues, at some level in this ordering system supply is influencing the demand at the Telluride selection choices always because there may be people who only want one color and if they can’t get it they won’t want to wait forever if they need a vehicle. Knowing what number in line you are along with how many in front of you with the similar request is probably the most telling.

If you were at the only deli in town, number 20 might get the turkey before they run out. But the ONE supplier not only delivers to your deli, but many other Delis in your state AND all the Delis in the country and to Canada AND to a few other countries. So number 20 in line makes the wait a lot longer.

True. But once you make a deposit you are committing to that deli and their ability to get turkey to sell to their customers. What do you do the week of Thanksgiving when everyone wants a turkey?

And you WILL get your turkey, but you don't necessarily know when. I got my turkey almost a year after I ordered it in 2019, so things haven't changed much in 2 years. But I DID get it, and it was worth the wait. Best turkey I've ever owned!!😁😅
