  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hello all,

My name is Tim from CA and I am a new member that’s been lurking this forum while searching for a Telluride to purchase at MSRP, which isn’t easy in my state. Surprisingly, I received a call last night from Valencia Kia stating that a SXP Nightfall with white/dune brown will be arriving next month at MSRP, so I quickly out a deposit down.

However, there is a catch and that is a $5k dealer add on that will be included, which consist of mud guard, bumper protector, cross bar, side step, and all weather floor mat. When I checked Kia‘s website the total for the items cost under $1,500, which means there’s a installation fee of around $3,500 for something I can do in an hour in my garage. When I voiced my concern I was given an option of replacing some of the items I don’t want with other accessories they offer, but it‘s still not sitting well with me. I plan on visiting the dealer this weekend to see they will be willing to sell some of the accessories without charging labor. Fingers crossed.

Anyway, I appreciate all the resources this forum provides and look forward to spending a lot of time here.

Correct, without a written and executed sales agreement prior to delivery with a firm price, salespeople will often verbally agree to MSRP to get your deposit and then say "oh but the manager/owner is requiring this $5k add-on. So when I said MSRP over the phone and email, I meant prior to our value-added package here at Shady Kia. And, yeah, unfortunately it's not negotiable, because the manager tells me that we'll just sell the vehicle to someone else of you don't want to pay. But, I'm the nice guy who got your deposit on this top rated Telluride, and I promise I'm working the best deal for you. Other dealers in the area have as much as a $10k-$12k markup!"

Good luck, and yes, be glad you joined the forum. It's tough to get a Telluride without a markup from a California dealer!

I would find another dealer - out of state if necessary. What they are pulling is ridiculous. I got mine in Texas - MSRP and no surprises - and they gave me all weather mats for free!
