• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I have always thought initial quality ranking was basically worthless. No one buys a car to keep it a short time. I want to know about quality in year five and year ten. My two current cars are 2010 models. Now it is good to see # of defects in brand new cars. I think Consumer Reports used to report that. Defects on day 1 are a bad sign...

Interesting to note and surprised that no Honda's on this list...

I agree. So a car isn't a piece of crap out of the box doesn't tell me how its going to be in 5-10 years. I am sure this has some bearing on the long term reliability of this car but I would be hesitant about planning on passing most new cars along to my kids in 10 years like some expect out of Toyota's and Hondas. Or at least used to. :( Time will tell.

I always figured this was a list you buy your way onto. It's problems per 100 cars in the first 90 days. I mean, Chevy used to do commercials where their entire vehicle line up was featured as best in initial quality🤔. Having owned about a half dozen GM vehicles I can attest to the quality after 90 days.👎The wait times at GM and Chrysler dealers are so long it probably takes 90 days to get in for an appointment so of course no problems reported in the first 90 days.😂

My Telluride showed up at my door with about a handful of fit and finish issues while I have a 2015 CRV which has yet to need a repair. I've never had a vehicle that was delivered new with so many defects as my Kia so I take these automotive awards with a grain of salt.

Luckily, no mechanical issues yet with the Telly, that's the important thing.

No issues on delivery, or with 6000kms. But I am watching tire wear and a rear tire balance issue.

Because most Tellurire owners were so happy to finally get their car and gave good initial reviews 😀.

I am happy so far in 3 mos of ownership. I did notice that Korean products (also my LG Oled tv) have a delay when execute a command though.

Ram and Dodge are 1 and 2. What world am I living in? Then Chrysler is last.....

So much of this has to do with introducing new models and the number of models.

My 2021 Honda Pilot has a number of issues that developed within the first 90 days. Many others have reported the same…. Honda quality has gone downhill as of late (complacency?).

* Driver outside mirror glass loose (shakes/vibrates above 40mph)
* Dead pixel in gauge cluster (always red)
* Wireless phone charger never works more than a few seconds, no matter the phone or position, with or without case, even at standstill
* Idle is rough when outside temps are above 80F and a/c on. Random stumble that is felt though the entire car, sometimes enough the cause the car to lurch. Not a regular rhythm like if it were simply the a/c compressor cycling
* Parking brake pedal spring loose and rattles

The wireless charger on our Tellurides is just junk too. I dont understand how a $10 Amazon wireless charger from China works so well but Honda and Kia can’t make a decent one in a $45k car. I think the idea is just to add to the “luxury features” but don’t care if it works.

Initial quality control and long term reliability are different. My assessment of quality control is how well is the production process and catching defects when they occur. Long term reliability is how well is the design of the car and durability of parts in real world use. Reliability of Telluride can not be determined for a three year old model. Car reviewers rely on other Kia car models. I read and heard about how Kia have hired European car engineers and management to help change Kia's past.

Having worked for a German manufacturing company, I can only say they believed in quality by inspection. The Toyota model was build quality into the process. Two different approaches.

German management??
My local Kia dealer tells me to take it to where I bought the car from every time I take it for warranty work.
They might as well put a sign on “WE DO NOT DO WARRANTY WORK ON VEHICLES NOT PURCHASED HERE. “

That’s unfortunate.

This Kia is the first non Honda purchase for me. And so far I’ve been pretty happy with the experience.

Note that my 2005 Pilot is still going strong with over 200K miles.

Can you explain what about it is junk? I haven't got my telly yet but I did test drive one and the wireless charger seemed to work just fine. Obviously I understand that isn't a great measure of reliability but I'm just curious what you feel makes it junk?

It charges very slowly and heats up your phone. Like others reported, if you use your phone at the same time, your battery level doesnt even go up.

Ah interesting. I'll be sure to test it out once I get my vehicle. Thank you!

They aren't allowed to do that if they are a Kia dealer. If it's under warrantee the local Kia Dealer should be doing the work.

^^^i agree with these

i think so too...i saw maxima and altima on there and their CVT transmissions are known for tanking around 100k miles...ask me how i know...so i guess they have to pay for the PR to keep selling
