Upper Midsize SUV Highest Ranked: Kia Telluride
I agree. So a car isn't a piece of crap out of the box doesn't tell me how its going to be in 5-10 years. I am sure this has some bearing on the long term reliability of this car but I would be hesitant about planning on passing most new cars along to my kids in 10 years like some expect out of Toyota's and Hondas. Or at least used to.I have always thought initial quality ranking was basically worthless. No one buys a car to keep it a short time. I want to know about quality in year five and year ten. My two current cars are 2010 models. Now it is good to see # of defects in brand new cars. I think Consumer Reports used to report that. Defects on day 1 are a bad sign...
I always figured this was a list you buy your way onto. It's problems per 100 cars in the first 90 days. I mean, Chevy used to do commercials where their entire vehicle line up was featured as best in initial quality
My 2021 Honda Pilot has a number of issues that developed within the first 90 days. Many others have reported the same…. Honda quality has gone downhill as of late (complacency?).

* Driver outside mirror glass loose (shakes/vibrates above 40mph)
* Dead pixel in gauge cluster (always red)
* Wireless phone charger never works more than a few seconds, no matter the phone or position, with or without case, even at standstill
* Idle is rough when outside temps are above 80F and a/c on. Random stumble that is felt though the entire car, sometimes enough the cause the car to lurch. Not a regular rhythm like if it were simply the a/c compressor cycling
* Parking brake pedal spring loose and rattles
Can you explain what about it is junk? I haven't got my telly yet but I did test drive one and the wireless charger seemed to work just fine. Obviously I understand that isn't a great measure of reliability but I'm just curious what you feel makes it junk? The wireless charger on our Tellurides is just junk too. I dont understand how a $10 Amazon wireless charger from China works so well but Honda and Kia can’t make a decent one in a $45k car. I think the idea is just to add to the “luxury features” but don’t care if it works.
It charges very slowly and heats up your phone. Like others reported, if you use your phone at the same time, your battery level doesnt even go up.Can you explain what about it is junk? Ah interesting. I'll be sure to test it out once I get my vehicle. Thank you!It charges very slowly and heats up your phone. Like others reported, if you use your phone at the same time, your battery level doesnt even go up.
They aren't allowed to do that if they are a Kia dealer. If it's under warrantee the local Kia Dealer should be doing the work.German management??
My local Kia dealer tells me to take it to where I bought the car from every time I take it for warranty work.
They might as well put a sign on “WE DO NOT DO WARRANTY WORK ON VEHICLES NOT PURCHASED HERE. “

I always figured this was a list you buy your way onto. It's problems per 100 cars in the first 90 days. I mean, Chevy used to do commercials where their entire vehicle line up was featured as best in initial quality. Having owned about a half dozen GM vehicles I can attest to the quality after 90 days.
The wait times at GM and Chrysler dealers are so long it probably takes 90 days to get in for an appointment so of course no problems reported in the first 90 days.
My Telluride showed up at my door with about a handful of fit and finish issues while I have a 2015 CRV which has yet to need a repair. I've never had a vehicle that was delivered new with so many defects as my Kia so I take these automotive awards with a grain of salt.
Luckily, no mechanical issues yet with the Telly, that's the important thing.
