• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
    If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Kia Telluride US production stats. by trim and colors

If you look at the sales mix - a larger percentage of Tellurides have been SX models - and many of those with the Prestige package. If anyone had said two years ago that KIA would have trouble filling orders for a $50K vehicle...they would have been laughed out of the room. Did KIA under-estimate demand? Of course they did. Would anyone else also have made the same miscalculation based on KIA's prior success at this price point? Yes they would have.

Give it time - they have made changes to increase capacity to 100K units per year. Plus - either you are willing to wait to drive the winning-est SUV to hit the market since the original Grand Cherokee back in the early 90's or you are willing to settle for second best. COVID-19 surely didn't help - but that part isn't KIA's fault.

I for one am standing by my order and can't wait to have one in the garage.
I’m sticking around for my order as well...for now atleast. I’m not really placing blame on under estimating demand, I get it. But nobody can say they’ve handled it all that well, whether you blame Kia themselves or many of the dealerships (not all), it’s near impossible to get any answers and none of the answers I’ve gotten ever sound confident whatsoever. I’m waiting until my new eta of July, after that, it may just be time to let it be someone else’s issue. Still really excited for the car but since I’m coming off a lease I only have so many options.

I agree 100% about the lack of communication from dealers and from Kia in general. I’ve been patient because of the pandemic, but the virus is no excuse for not keeping your clientele as informed as possible. Even if you know nothing, at least let us know every now and again that you’re checking in on the situation at the factory or whatever, humor me! I probably wouldn’t order again and I didn’t even get mine yet but I’m pretty sure, it usually doesn’t go like this. Even without covid, I think Kia just ridiculously under estimated demand and this is so new to them that we’re dealing with the growing pains.
I didn't have much communication, but I kept on top of things through the wonderful people on here, plus I checked the local newspaper and the worker's Facebook pages so I knew when they were told not to come back to work for a few days, and when to report. The auto transporters would frequently post photos of their loaded car carriers, and where they were destined for, and I would eagerly look to see if they were coming my way. It helped pass the time, and occasionally I would check with the dealer. Having worked with the public when there was no news, it is downright depressing to call people and say "I'm just calling to tell you there's no news" so I can understand from their side. I had even planned to go down and do a tour if I could figure out what day my Telly would be made, and tie it in to a visit with my grand-daughter, but then they shut down the tours because of COVID. So I would just urge you to be proactive and check in when you want, and check the spreadsheet when cars are going to be made (you can search by dealer - I found using the zip code easiest for me). When I saw a car matching the description of mine, I would call the dealer, and he would let me know where I was on the list. As long as you aren't blasting them for not knowing (they don't get any more info then we do). I even asked my dealer if I could reject delivery of my Telly and get one of the new ones if I knew what the new ones had by the time mine was ready. He said it would be easy and they would give me a deal - that's how confident they were they could sell mine in a heartbeat.

So I’ve heard a couple people say they’ve checked the Facebook page for workers now, what is that group called? And what website did you use for the transporters? I’d definitely be interested in checking those out! Would definitely help pass the time, especially since it seems the VIN tool hasn’t been working 100% correctly these past few weeks (and I’m not talking about this week in particular, as I’m aware they shut down again).

@Stoney - I too would be interested in the website(s) you used to check the auto transporters that you mentioned. Can you share?

This is huge, thank you! We've all been freaking out, hoping that the other tool was just broken, but also fearing that they just quit production all together, lol. If you can somehow keep this updated in real time, you'll be a lot of people's hero!!

@Michelw typically updates his tool 1, sometimes 2 times per month and he's mentioned that each pull is quite time consuming.

Ahhhh, well I get it then, it’s not his full time job and he ain’t getting paid for it, so completely understandable! Just sucks we have to rely on members on this forum for any real information sometimes that my local dealer isn’t giving me. Thanks for the hard work @Michelw !!

Hi there! Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Here is the site - with a direct link to one of the car carrier's links (sometimes the photos and destinations are in the comments.) Remember that if people start asking about their vehicles on here it will likely be made into a private page. The comments seem to be from the workers who have little or no information. I basically just read the posts to keep tabs on when they shut down, when they called their workers back in, and the occasional photos of loaded car carriers and destinations. Kenneth Smith

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Just keep in mind that these are workers who have little or no information. If "outsiders" start posting questions, the site will likely be made private. I basically just kept an eye on posts so I would know when the place shut down and re-opened, and watched for the postings of the car carrier drivers who posted photos of their loaded trucks and destinations as the plant neared the end of the 2020 production. This is a direct link to one of the posts I mentioned; the comments often spurred other drivers to post a shot of their load and destination. Kenneth Smith

Amazing, thank you. I have a question. When scrapping vins i noticed two numbers change. The last digit which is easy, just counting up, and the digit next to the letter C, how do you figure this one out?

That's the "check digit" which basically makes sure the other numbers in the VIN are valid. You can see the full breakdown here: https://vpic.nhtsa.dot.gov/mid/home/displayfile/7f5e483c-54f6-4733-8b08-5c154c3f15e9

Here is how the check digit gets calculated: Wikipedia

Thank you! That’s a lot of work! I though i might be able to scrape vins. It definitely needs a software.

If you know python, all of the logic to do it is in jamie-houston/vin-lookup. For example, run python from a directory with that file:

# python
Python 3.7.4 (default, Sep 7 2019, 18:27:02)
>>> import vin_generator
>>> vin_generator.get_next_vin('5XYP6DHC0LG092308')
['5XYP2DHC8LG092309', '5XYP24HC8LG092309', '5XYP3DHC1LG092309', '5XYP34HC1LG092309', '5XYP5DHC9LG092309', '5XYP54HC9LG092309', '5XYP6DHC2LG092309', '5XYP64HC2LG092309']

Then just load https://www.kia.com/us/services/en/windowsticker/load/<VIN number> (replacing VIN number with one of the possible VINs).

I wish. No i dont know programming. I’ll have to wait for Michelw until he uploads a new list. Or on you if you fixed the problem

I will try to update my Google Sheets 1 or 2 times a week. My process is now pretty efficient.
Are u gonna post it here every time u update it? Or is it the same sheet posted above?
