November update available for download

I was able to update without starting the engine with the use of a battery charger. Mine has an AGM battery. If yours does make sure your charger is compatible or has a AGM mode. I was surprised to see that it was only 40% charged. I left it on after the update to get it fully charged.

That is the safest bet if you don’t want the car to turn off mid install. In the past some have been able to get away with using a battery charger during the install and the car stays on through the entire update, 45+ minutes. With the April 2021 update, the car still shut off even with my charger plugged in. It was finally able complete the install my second attempt keeping the car “awake” by moving the volume knob every 15-20 minutes.

How about infotainment, is everything disabled while it's updating? I was thinking of doing this on a long drive I have this weekend, but don't want to sit in silence (too many thoughts!).

Correct. No radio or audio over the speakers. Use your phone or portable bluetooth speaker during the install?

That’s odd, I had an option to let it install after turning the Telly off. Not even acc on. Install didn’t work for me with car running (tried twice) but worked with this option.

What you you mean by “option”? you mean you left the usb drive (with updated files) inserted and the car asked you if you want to start the update after you turn the ignition off?

I noticed there's a newer version of the downloader today on Navigation Updater | Official Kia Navigation Update Website but it still won't let you download 20-21 update.

I know what the update consists of and I know how to run an update. The problem is... they have held up the update for some reason. Likely due to some bugs. It is currently not available for download. If anybody has luck getting the update files anytime soon, please post so I know they are available again. Thanks

I just went in the garage and put in the USB (downloaded update Monday). It gives me an option of "Update Now" and "Background Update". When I selected "Background Update", it says all features can be used, but the system may be slow to respond. Interesting....I will try that tomorrow on my drive. Not really excited about checking on it every 10 minutes in the garage to make sure power is still on.

You can go to setup > general > SW info/update and find your map version.

Hey all, loving this list as a starting point, looking for a list of features added for each update as a source of what to expect and progress. Love my Telluride but the software leaves a bit to be desired. Can anyone point me to such a list? Seems worthy of a sticky post in the technolgy section!

I don’t think you’re really going to find a definitive list of things added with each version. As new updates are added, information about old ones is removed because it is no longer current. You can go back through old threads and find some info that way.

Here are some big changes that I can think of:

14.0
-Ability to split screen Apple CarPlay/Android Auto
-Sounds of Nature added
-Alerts for red light/speed cameras
-Weather info changed from HD Radio data to connected services (i.e., UVO)
-Additional map themes (milk, cafe latte, mocha)
-Added server based routing

14.10
-Updated home screen/theme
-Updated radio UI
-Added ability to display album art with Bluetooth audio
-Smarter implementation of split screen (e.g., you have maps up in split screen and then bring up maps on the main screen, it’ll change the split screen portion to something that isn’t maps so there isn’t a duplicate
-On screen map buttons hide when not in use
-Introduction of user profiles

15.0
-Move to SoundHound for voice recognition
-Ability to swap volume/tune knob functions
-Better control for pausing/canceling routes

15.5
-New dark theme for maps
-Mild home screen reshuffling
-Valet mode

Obviously, this is not all-inclusive. But will show you some of the things that are added periodically in addition to updated maps.

I've been through all of the menus and can't find it.
My profile is in Kilometers. I did the update logged into that profile
My wife's and the guest profile is still in Miles.
I like it when it says the speed limit is 105, but..........

I found it. It's under detailed guidance view in the Navigation settings

So the background update didn't happen on a 2 hour drive, it was still a quarter of the way through.... But when I tried again, I got the option to do the update after shutting down the car. It worked perfectly, and was done in about 45 min.

After updating my 22 the units are still the same, didn’t need to change back.

So is the update no longer using the purple tuyeah purple tubes and you have access to the 3 screens, what are the glitches ?
