• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Oil change and warranty

I have a question about oil change and warranty.
I have a 2021 Telluride.
I had the first oil change at 7000 miles.
I goofed, and missed the second one before 7500 was up again.
But I'm only 400 miles over that. So It's been 7900 since my last change.
I know - bad, horrible - I was on a road trip and should have done it beforehand, but ended up putting 1200 miles on my vehicle in the last week.

I have a 15,000 mile service scheduled. I'm at 14,900 right now.

A couple questions:
1) Do you think they will void my warranty if they see that I didn't change my oil in 7900?
2) If so, should I a) change the oil myself before taking it in for service, or b) get an oil change place to do it before?
I'm concerned that a brand new filter in there will tip them off.

While I realize that I should have gotten the oil changed - I feel that being off by 400 miles shouldn't be enough to lose my entire warranty.
In realize this seems slightly shady... but won't happen again.

Advice?

At this early, I wouldn't worry too much about that! Your car is fine, right? A missed oil change here and there should cost you no harm (car or warranty). Just go back to normal service interval. In the whole scheme of things, this is insignificant, IMHO. Thanks.

I totally agree that it isn't causing any harm at this point. my concern is Kia being sticklers and saying the warranty is cancelled.

A missed oil change would be BAD, IMO. A single delayed oil change, provided it's not too delayed, I wouldn't worry about. Though with the extended oil change intervals already, I would prefer to change it early instead of late. More for the filter than the oil (if using synthetic like I do).
