I have a question about oil change and warranty.
I have a 2021 Telluride.
I had the first oil change at 7000 miles.
I goofed, and missed the second one before 7500 was up again.
But I'm only 400 miles over that. So It's been 7900 since my last change.
I know - bad, horrible - I was on a road trip and should have done it beforehand, but ended up putting 1200 miles on my vehicle in the last week.
I have a 15,000 mile service scheduled. I'm at 14,900 right now.
A couple questions:
1) Do you think they will void my warranty if they see that I didn't change my oil in 7900?
2) If so, should I a) change the oil myself before taking it in for service, or b) get an oil change place to do it before?
I'm concerned that a brand new filter in there will tip them off.
While I realize that I should have gotten the oil changed - I feel that being off by 400 miles shouldn't be enough to lose my entire warranty.
In realize this seems slightly shady... but won't happen again.
Advice?
