Super helpful, I'll ask for my kdealer place in line tomorrow and update here for anyone interested. I had previously asked if it was submitted to kfos yet and the response was "we have earned and secured your vehicle, it has a temporary serial number as of now"Wait a sec... my post was for neim003. We just got an update on Friday with an ETA of 05/16. I'll update once we have additional info.Appreciate the update! The information they gave you is about as clear as mud. Looks like I’ve got at least 2 more months until my order is picked up.
Thanks for the reply. My order was picked up by KFOS in February however, I checked today and the dealer said still no ETA. Is it typical that it can take a couple/few months before an ETA is provided? If it was picked up in this months KFOS, you will not get an ETA until after KFOS closes. A VIN is created when the vehicle goes into paint. Depending on your location, anywhere from 2-6 weeks before ETA.
Your wait time is all dependent on how many orders of the same trim car (sx fwd) your dealer has in front of you, and how many they are allotted each month.Hi All! I ordered a 2022 Dark Moss SX (not AWD) two weeks ago. Was given a timeframe of 6-9 months (dealer said it would have been 9-12 months if I elected the Premium or AWD). I have not received any type of confirmation that my order was even received. I assume this is normal? Does anyone else have the same model on order and if so, what type of wait times are you seeing? Will they automatically bump it to a 2023 if it doesnt get built until the end of this year?
You will get an initial ETA within a couple of days of KFOS closing. Are you sure you are talking about KFOS and not KDealer? Thanks for the reply. I just talked to Paula with online sales at Steven Kia and they said they charge $5000 over MSRP for any online order from the factory. Any suggestions on how you negotiated that down? No, MSRP only. Matt at Steven Kia has been fantastic. Only thing is the $1000 deposit is non-refundable for 6 months, if it doesn't arrive after 6 you can get your deposit back.
The dealer specifically said that it was in the KFOS. I attached what the dealer sent me. How would I tell the difference between KFOS & KDealer? You will get an initial ETA within a couple of days of KFOS closing. Are you sure you are talking about KFOS and not KDealer?

Thanks so much for the comments so far, I really appreciate it!!
I really do appreciate the reply and info. This is my 1st time trying to purchase a Telluride and I really wish I would have spent way more time on this site before working with the current dealer. I had liked the dealership b/c they do not have a markup. However, as you point out and something I have learned from this site is that low volume dealers is a total crap shoot and if I want a Telluride a more reliable way to go is using a more high volume dealer (at least in terms of a more reliable schedule). So crazy! Really do appreciate the responses as it helps make decisions easier. Thanks!!![]()
Latest information on Ordering System(Kdealer/KFOS) starting Sept 2020
Please read though Latest info on ordering through KFOS to understand process in more detail. In short process stays the same but now all orders in Kdealer(Web DCS) will automatically transfer to KFOS when it is opened. Small breakdown explanation is Kdealer(Web DCS) is where dealer puts your...tellurideforum.org
Post 339 (and others) is from a response from a dealer stating that ETA's are given out within a couple of days of KFOS closing. I don't know what else to say other than Salinas is a small dealer. They have been allocated 132 in the past couple of years where Fowler, for example, has had 226 in the last 4 months. Maybe they aren't that familiar with the process that has be described on this site on how it works and how it has worked for the 2 Tellurides that I have ordered.
That's a lazy dealer. Most will order exactly what you want.I had a dealer, that sells at MSRP, tell me today that the 10-12 months wait time is the dealerships banking on the main ingredients of what you ordered will come in that time frame. HE also said that they are not taking your build on kia.com and ordering that exact build.
This matters to me because I want the SX for the blind spot camera, but I do not need the prestige package. So my fear is if they are not ordering the exact build requested and I could wait forever for a SX that only is a nightfall and not prestige.
Does anyone know if dealerships are just hoping the requested car comes in or if dealerships are sending in the build information I would be giving them?
Side Note - Dealers I have talked to that sell at MSRP
Grosett - Memphis, TN
Ricart - Columbus, Ohio
I25 - Longmont, CO
Mencia - Indiana
Thanks
The dealer can definitely place a specific order. But they only get to submit a certain number of specific orders during specific windows with pre-determined allotments. Some dealers who do not take orders are just ordering whatever and you pick from what they get in each month. This is called unassigned dealer inventory.I had a dealer, that sells at MSRP, tell me today that the 10-12 months wait time is the dealerships banking on the main ingredients of what you ordered will come in that time frame. I ordered 3/10 from them as well. I think they’re at 40 for the month of March already so fingers crossed. I was told 3 to 4 months. Dune Brown interior would be 5 to 6 months.Just got quoted 4 months at Moritz KIA in FW. Should I just assume the worst that it won't be here till 2023?
I actually ordered March 10th. He told me $1898, but I said it was supposed to be $898 so he changed it. Probably could have knocked more off to be honest.Yep, it's an MSRP dealer. They had no dealer add-ons. I was going to go with Moritz Ft Worth since they are #1 in TX volume, but they req'd $995 for some add-ons kast Nov. When I called them last week, they are now req'ing $1898 on top of MSRP for nitrogen in the tires and ceramic tint and a paint warranty or something.
That is simply an order form showing that the order has been submitted. The order will now sit in a queue with all other orders until KFOS selects it. This is where the months waiting comes in.The dealer specifically said that it was in the KFOS. I attached what the dealer sent me. How would I tell the difference between KFOS & KDealer?
