However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Order to delivery time

That's exactly what I ordered! When did you get an ETA or a VIN assigned to it?
So our dealer told us we would hear from him 3 times:
1. When our order was accepted
2. When the vehicle was on the train in transit (VIN provided at this time)
3. When the vehicle was at their location

We actually only received 1 and 3. They told us that because of the widespread flooding across the US, Kia is limited on what they can ship by rail right now, so the car was a bit of a surprise to them as well. I don't know how much of that I buy, but I'm excited my car is in!

A gray SX with prestige and towing just appeared near me on the east coast as well, I have a call in about it. Guess that was the most recent batch to come off the line.

I contacted the Delaware dealer with the Gravity Grey SX. It was a customer order, just shows on their website because its in transit. He stated at this point any SX is ordered, nothing that comes on the lot isn't going to be already taken. He said the initial order window was 4-6 weeks, and its been recommended to them to give a 6-8 week order window now. He said that the initial lot of SXs that were produced was not enough to meet demand, and what we are seeing ship out now are the ones that were left over from that lot and match customer orders. Kia will produce more, but its going to take time, and the recommendation was if you want one within the next few months, place an order now. If a dealer will not accept an order, its the dealer trying to push you into buying another model.

This gives me hope that my gravity grey SXP w/tow will be ready soon!

Comment from Steve Doyel talks about delays for SX coming from a DFW Kia Dealer and Kia Media Relations

For those of you that don't want to click on the link. This is basically what the comment says - " They did contact me again to confirm it's the Captain's Chairs. They are OUT OF THEM. They cannot fill any S or SX orders because they simply don't have any Captain's Chairs. This backs up the information I received from Kia Media Relations... This goes back to Kia not being prepared for the demand on the higher-end trims and/or the demand for 7-passenger seating in lieu of 8. I'm sure they'll get this resolved soon, but it doesn't sound like anyone knows for sure."

For those who can’t access YouTube comments (you are lucky!) the commenter stated there would be indefinite delays in models with captains chairs as they didn’t anticipate the demand of the higher level models. Not good.

I know Steve Doyle.. he heard this information from a dealer that doesn’t place orders. (Probably just wanting to sell from stock) I just had a 20 min conversation letting him know everything that we all already know. Told him about one of the Sorento production Line’s that is closing to make more Tellurides. Told him about the Telluride line in general, is stopping production of 8 seaters to focus on only 7 seaters(S and SX model). Yes they are low on parts due to demand but have plenty coming over to start the month. Every week new SX and S models are being produced.

Thanks for the info. How does this change order timing? Around 8-10 weeks from order date or?

Depends on S or SX... I can only tell you what I have done so far as we are learning on the fly with this order system and production supply and demand. March 3rd I ordered within 10 minutes a SX Prestige with Tow Package and a SX FWD without Prestige with Butterscotch interior. The SX Prestige With Tow Package has yet to fill and give me ETA on arrival. The SX FWD is already at the customers house as of last week. I have about 15 orders personally that are loaded SX with Prestige. When the first one fills that will give me some type of idea as far as ETA. And I can better track how Kia is progressing as the 2nd, 3rd, 4th order gets filled. I have a captain chair S model that I ordered on the 5th of this month. They were prepared to wait 10-12 weeks. That ordered filled on the 11th and ETA to hit my store is May 13th.. so in that situation it is a 6 week turnaround..

I honestly feel that as the Sorento line changes to the Telluride line and parts come in for the demand that all orders placed before April 1st will get pushed and completed by end of June at latest. Being optimistic thinking towards end of May. For the orders place after April 1st I would think they will be on the grounds by July.

This is my personal opinion and best I can honestly gauge from what I’m seeing with access to everyone’s inventory and what I have discussed with the regional manager.

Hope this helps.. just trying to give honest, realistic, up to the latest information.

Probably a dumb question but I have never had to order a car. When I went to my dealer they just put me on a waitlist. My fear is I won’t get it forever or what I want. Do I just go in & say I want to order & pay for/out deposit down??? Give me any details you can on what to do! I’ll be there tomorrow. Thanks!

Yes, first thing is find a location with a knowledgeable person. Then ask if thier Store does orders(some do not). If they do orders then you can go in and order exactly what you want trim, color and package wise. 99% of dealers will require a deposit to hold/order the car. Ask them how much. In Dallas it varies from 1,000-2,500 depending on location. Some dealers have refundable deposits and some do not. Personally at my store it is 1,000 non refundable deposit to order.

I would be very wary of a dealer that says come in and we will just add you to our list and that is all. Get a receipt for the actual order when it is submitted and a receipt for your deposit for your records.

My experience in the Maryland/Delaware area is a $500 deposit to reserve a spot. The large volume dealers in the area stated they will not do this. The small/medium size have been more than willing. The dealer I placed my order with basically asked me the same questions as if I was building it on kia.com (exterior color, interior color, packages, floor mats, etc.). They stated they had X amount of build slots with Kia manufacturing, and I would be taking build slot Y. I also negotiated price before accepting the build slot.
