Order to delivery time

Shit. Are you serious? It has been more than 4 months, but you don't even have a VIN? Come check some dealerships in Seattle. They are selling SX with prestige package
I ordered April 16th and just got my VIN on Monday. I knew the car was supposed to arrive on Sep 16, but even that was without them having a VIN available.

I tried to call for a status through Kia customer service from on line number. All they did was call the GM of my dealership and ask him. I have tried not to pester them but the only updates I get are when I call.

Your deposit gives you the right to bug the hell out of them. Just tell them you want updates and sometimes the squeaky wheel gets the grease

So, it looks like I am finally getting to the end of my long and winding road waiting for my Green Moss / Dune SXP Prestige no tow. Dealer just told me it is on his lot ready to be picked up tomorrow. I ordered in NJ last April 5 and have been frustrated by the lack of info from Kia, as we all have, over these last 20 weeks. Based on other reactions on this thread the vehicle should prove to be worth the wait but Kia could have handled communications and expectations much better than it has.

The problem is, Kia does not actually take and fulfill "orders". My understanding is they allocate a certain number of vehicles to each dealership on a periodic schedule by trim level/package and the dealer can then select requests ("orders") they have in the system that match those allocations to be fulfilled in whatever colors and additional options. So, your dealer has to get that allocation (and they never know when that will be) which I guess is based on some production and sales algorithm at Kia, and then you have to hope no one else has requested a Telluride that could be fulfilled by that same allocation before you at your dealership. The timing of your order is really only relevant to your specific dealership, not to the entire population of orders at every dealership. That's why completion times vary so much even for the exact same specs.

So, what you are saying starts to make some sense of why no one could give solid info. Actually then, when you place an "order" you are not placing the order with KIA corporate but with your dealer. It is then up to the dealer to get your car from KIA based on how the dealer handles his allocations. Getting these allocations then is a game between the dealer network and KIA production. Meanwhile, since the individual dealer does not know how his allocation begging is going no one gives the customer any delivery info until very late in the process. Is that about it?

Ours arrived yesterday! (In Springfield, MO) We already got the window tinting done today, the wife is in love with the vehicle.

It's a White SX with Prestige Package (Gray Nappa Leather Interior). We ordered on April 10th. So total time Order to Delivery was 4 months 11 days.

That's pretty much how I understand it. It would be better for us if allocations were made to customer orders and not to dealerships, but when things are operating normally they are usually just trying to fill dealer lots, and the occasional special order is easy to grab from existing allocations within a reasonable amount of time. We're just in a situation where supply can't meet demand and so the system isn't working well, because it wasn't designed for this type of fulfillment.

I hope they don't jack up your price when you go to pick up.

Ordered mine on 7/25, just got an update from Kia of Muncie, expected date is 10/15... SXP Moss/black with no extras.

Ordered mine on 7/30. The first estimated delivery date was 9/30, now its 10/6. SXP with Tow, Black Copper, Dune Brown.

I ordered right in between on 7/27 annnnnndd.....no update. So you're already ahead of a lot of us. Exciting.

Well.. almost 4 months to the day.... I received my Black on Black SXP/AWD/Tow.... Have had it 2 days and I can see it will be a learning experience. I told the dealer not to prep the outside...I take it in the 9th of Sept for Ceramic coating so no swirls. I will just hose it down if a lot of dust. It drives great... never understood why you needed 400 hp... seems the 291 works quite well with the 8 speed tranny. Response is great for what it is... a people hauler/or some other items. It is NOT a pick up truck... if that is what you compare it to...shoulda bought one instead. Admitted...less than 100 miles on it but what I have driven, has been great.

Again.. there is a lot to learn ...even down loading UVO. I also found out the dealer has a remote start offered and installed that doesn't mess with warranty as it is THEIR brand. Later may include that as well. ( not sure if I will take to UVO so options open). I imagine I have a lot to learn as to the use of the options but, being retired, I may be able to find some time. Now, my wife seems apprehensive when I suggest she drive it, but, she will come around. One thing I am trying to find is a NO-DRILL front plate bracket for Telluride. We don't have front License plate requirements here but have a Vanity Plate I want on the front. Will comment again as I go along the T-Ride Trail....

Oh, just to tell you...I wasn't notified of anything until the morning it came in... NO VIN ahead or even that it was being built... Was within 15 miles of me in a drop point in Youngstown Ohio for a few days. So as I see it...the VIN is NOT an indication it is being built or that even the Dealer could trace it... I visited the dealer the day before I got my call and told them I was frustrated at this wait... At that time..no one knew about the info on my ride.... nor could they find the disposition...The call came to them....the next morning.

Wondering if people can start posting when they ordered and when they received their Kia (or at least the vin).

I ordered an sx prestige with tow on March 13. Nothing yet.

Many of the threads here have gotten hare to follow woth with the side conversations, it would be helpful to just keep this to dates for people’s reference.

I began my ordering process for my Dark Moss/Dune SX w/Prestige Package back in early April after test driving an EX, however, at the time they informed me that Kia was not accepting orders at all for any trim levels. I then received a call in May stating that they had begun accepting orders and I could come put a deposit on one. I did so and about 2 days later was informed that I would be getting my deposit back due to the orders not being open for SX with Prestige Package. I was told ordering wouldn’t likely open until September 2019.

I then received notification on 7/23/19 that orders would be opening on 7/25/19 at 12pm central time for SX with Prestige Package models. My order was placed and accepted on 7/25/19 and I was told it would likely take 8-10 weeks before delivery. I do not yet have a VIN number.

Because of the confusion and frustration I had dealt with throughout the process, the dealership did not require me to place a deposit the second time when I was finally able to order. They simply said that they would reserve it for me without a deposit, knowing full well that they could sell it if I decided not go through with the purchase.

Just got news that my Telluride is expected to be delivered November 8th!

SXP with tow, Black Copper, Dune Brown

Originally ordered 5/4, order was mistakenly canceled by Kia which was discovered end of July and reordered 7/31.

How things change very quickly. Just got an ETA of 10/6. Super excited.

I take the owners manual in with me and read it pretty much cover to cover.. Instead of my phone in the restroom, I take it. Good luck learning all the goodies it has.
